WarriorFish
Spoken like a true... well, true treadhead I live in constant terror/hope of plastic Tallarn. It'd be glorious. My wallet would strongly disagree, but we're not on talking terms at the moment anyway :P Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321731-ig-codex-wish-list/page/6/#findComment-4410710 Share on other sites
Arkaniss
Greatcoat Guard would be amazing. Going by vocal interest they rank up there with a new Sisters range - if GW ever did both they'd rake in the cash hand over fist! Anyway, I'd go to town and make a Napoleonic themed IG army. Would look pretty cool I think :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321731-ig-codex-wish-list/page/6/#findComment-4412868 Share on other sites

duz_
I was thinking maybe re-rolls of 1s as a standard buff across the board would be nice (with the exception to get hot weapons or make it 2s) Or even have the lasgun fire more shots For a shooting army we certainly struggle compared to others these days The CBG allows for rerolls of 1s for lasguns and HSLGs so it's possible I saw a batrep the other day with an open top taroux conversion that would actually be a fairly neat assault vehicle too Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321731-ig-codex-wish-list/page/6/#findComment-4457271 Share on other sites
Ulrik_Ironfist
I've actually become enamored with the Tallarn of late. Some dudes wearing shemags, pakols, and shalwars with cadian style armor, and rucks would be really cool. Maybe throw in some Tuareg influences, to really make them stand out. If the taurox became open topped, and went down to 35 points, it would be a great little vehicle, especially since the open top grants the assault vehicle rule, which we are in desperate need of. I have implemented a system of regimental doctrines, in a battlescribe catalog, to see if that could work, or would even be popular. You can find a download link here. It's basically got everything in my wishlist in it. Ulrik_Ironfist
Thanks WF. I might just wait for those to come out. I've also been looking at Victoria Minis Rough Rider Conversion kit, as well as their highland and penal guard. Just to give my guard some extra flavor. Akrim
Theres alot of great stuff from third party lines. I would like to see the IG lines go to something of a more futuristic look, sort of neo-Solar Auxilia look. The old lines with their 20th century aesthetic is nice and all but id like to see something more in tune with the year 40000. Ulrik_Ironfist
I'm thinking I want to make a Tallarn themed Platoon, To go along side my Cadian Platoon. I really like the Tallarn desert raiders, and with my modified IG codex, taking plasma vets with tallarn desert raiders and forward sentries (I gave them infiltrate, since they were begging for it) they would be a force to be reckoned with. MTC and Protection from gets hot! is not something to be taken lightly. I really like those bits from mad robot, and their prices are pretty decent. Any ETA on the desert raider bits? I also looked at some of their other offerings, and I saw their battle tank, which I must admit I like much more than the Leman Russ kit (something about the WW2 design choices vs the WW1 choices). When I do a tallarn platoon, I'll probably get 3 of those tanks, to compliment my current allotment of tanks. I still plan on getting a second demolisher. Akrim, the Militarum Tempestus Scions sort of have that look about them, and I'll tell you what, if GW gave them the option to take volkite guns, we'd be so happy. I might Just do that. One has to wonder if Inquisitorial stormtroopers have access to that sort of thing... Ulrik_Ironfist
I was actually giving some thought to what an assault vehicle for guard would look like. So here's a couple of options I see: 1) Open Topped Taurox. This would make a ton of sense, even though they pop way too easily, it makes it useful in a way that the chimera isn't. This would need to come with a massive points reduction to make it appealing. I'm thinking 35 points. The Prime would almost double in cost for being enclosed, and having better armament, exclusively for stormies. 2) A derivative of the Malcador. Basically a Dracosan from the Solar Auxilia, but with land raider doors at the front, and a driver's cupola on top. give it a twin linked heavy bolter next to the cupola and a 20 model capacity, and you'll be sitting pretty. You could put 6 ogryns a priest in it with room to spare, or put 20 guardsmen in it and drive it up the field. Make it 150 points and a dedicated transport for guardsmen and 'gryns. Ideally I'd like to see both of those happen, because having an open topped metal box for a squad of vets to fire 3 meltas from would be vicious, and having a big vehicle to deliver 'gryns to the fight would be nice too. Grudgie
I just registered to reply. I have a few simple suggestions that deserve to be considered. -Squad Sergeants can now give basic orders to their squad. -New order called 'Fire on my Mark'. Las gun fire is very effective if used in mass. 'Fire on my Mark' directs a squad to fire all Las at a single point, combining the heat of all Las guns allows the squad to melt through armor or to strike at a weak point. If the firing unit has at least 5 models with las weaponry firing, they can instead make a single S5 ap2 shot. If the squad is in rapid firing range, they may make a second S5 ap2 shot. Additionally if the squad is given the order 'First rank kneel Second rank fire' they may make a third S5 ap2 shot. -Infantry squads can add a Medicus for +5 points that give the squad 6+feel no pain. Or perhaps +15 points and they give 5+ feel no pain. Astra Militarum Medicum are trained in dealing with combat injury and carry around potent syringes that can deaden pain ranging from decapitated limbs to severe burns, allowing the guardsmen to carry on the fight. -Basic Training. Infantry Guardsmen are trained with basic proficiency to operate all standard Imperial special weapons. If a squad of guardsmen contains special weapons and that model dies, a second guardsmen may pick up that special weapon and continue using it instead of his las gun. -Conscripts can be taken by themselves as a core choice -Vox has unlimited range -Vanquisher Cannon gets strength 9 ap1 armour bane. -Tanks can have veteran crew for +15 points. Veteran crew have bs4. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321731-ig-codex-wish-list/page/6/#findComment-4463564 Share on other sites

Ulrik_Ironfist
D strength heavy 1 Titan hunter shells. 25 point upgrade. But I don't know about having sergeants issue orders. That's a bit much. Ldorte
15pt Upgrade to tanks (or at least for leman russ) to bs4 Plastic Salamanders Some sort of medium battle tank around the 80pt mark which is primarily for anti infantry with some of weapon upgrade options, strength 6 ap3 blast weapon with 48" range maybe?. Ulrik_Ironfist
15pt Upgrade to tanks (or at least for leman russ) to bs4 If you use the Elysian D-99 as a model, everything elysian that was BS3, takes a 20-25 point hike when it gets BS4. I think all vehicles should have the option to buy BS4. Given the current meta, 15 points sounds reasonable. It should be a per model upgrade though, not per unit, and only vehicles and flyers. I certainly would love to have my Vultures get BS4 when firing at other flyers, and BS5 against ground targets is also fun. duz_
Someone made an interesting point on faeit about vox casters being so limited in 40k. Which made me think of another rule for them. Vox caster allows >24" (insert what you believe a suitable range is) orders and can order any number of units equipped with one with the same order. All ordered units must have LOS of target and all must fire upon the same target. They've already done similar stuff with the ABG formations. Ulrik_Ironfist
I hate to be a naysayer, but unless we do this ourselves, we'll never get a guard codex that we're happy with. Because GW wants to sell us models we don't want in order to get benefits we do. Formations are the order of the day now, and decurions are here to stay. My big wish, is that they actually give us a decurion that's playable under 2.5k. As it stands, the CBG is only barely playable at 2k, and starts to come into its own at 2500. Tournaments are rarely more than 1850, and you can't do squat with the CBG at that level. That and the total lack of access to FW, which is where many of us get our best units from. So we are either stuck fielding formations without decurion benefits, an unplayable CBG, or a CAD at sub 2k. Vanquishers becoming Str D Ap2 would be nice, as would Tank commanders being able to go solo. Or instead, allow squadrons to fire independently. Hotshot lasguns being Assault 2 would be nice as well. duz_
I did a 1500pts CBG but like you said their benefits at that level don't really beat a standard CAD Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321731-ig-codex-wish-list/page/6/#findComment-4464624 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
That's a bit extreme, you know the saying about pleasing some of the people some of the time and that - codices are no different there! We're due an update as the codex is a bit old now so there is much to improve upon, when that comes it could have lots of stuff we like. Plus there's no guarantee that our ideas are actually better than GWs, even if we think so! For all we know GW is raiding the hallowed halls of the barracks for ideas, so you never know the new codex may have some familiar features... That aside, naysayers tend to have short life spans with the commissariat around Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321731-ig-codex-wish-list/page/6/#findComment-4464629 Share on other sites

I do think an open-topped Taurox-esque vehicle would be useful as the cheapest transport in the game. Maybe 25-30pts. AV10, 2HP, open-topped, capacity of 12+. The whole point is that they are cheap, mass produced and are meant to get a squad from point-A to point B (in one piece is optional). 2) Chimeras desperately need an adjustment with any of the possible options: --a price drop down to 50ish pts --more weaponry options such as Autocannons, Lascannons, missile launchers, etc... --AV12 on both Front and Sides 3) gigantic people-mover transport, perhaps in a LoW slot. Aesthetically I am thinking something like the Jawa Sandcrawler (boxier and covered in brass Aquilas, in typical Imperial Fashion) or on that scale. Everything the IG does is large-scale and a huge transport with a 50+ capacity would make sense as well. I think FW has one called Mastadon? I think there are Baneblade-chassis transport variants as well. I think the Vox Caster is an iconic differentiator for the Guard. It's a shame that more people don't seem to use them. I envision Vox's serving like pseudo-Synapse creatures (from the Tyranids) in the sense that they gice your army and Adamantium backbone. I'd like to see things like any unit within Vox range of an HQ Commander can use the HQ's Ld for things (not everything, to maintain balance). Have an item of Wargear called Heavy Vox or Vox Relay or something which is a HWT-sized, 2W model with an extended range (~24") that can "pass" Orders on so long as all models are linked via the Vox Relay. So a Commander that is 12" from a Vox Relay that is 24" from a Veteran unit with a Vox could still give those Vets orders. Along those lines. The "spotter" ability from Emperor's Wrath Artillery Co. is a great start. IG also needs more D options. Vanquisher's with an upgrade or emplaced Direct-Fore weapons would be good. Or Deathstrikes getting a boost: --Deathstrike missile: Infinite" S10 AP1 Apocalyptic Blast, Cover -2 --Doomstrike Missile: S-D AP1 Ordnance D3 --Banestrike Missile: Infinite" S4 AP4 Apocalyptic Blast, Rending, Poisoned 2+ ...all have the Time is Nigh rule but the idea with the D version is that it can cause multiple wounds to things.
