BLOOD!

(jump pack temporary until i can get a mkII one)

Good job. Is this a Chaplain? (I make this assumption because he's apparently wielding a crozius.) If so, why isn't he wearing a Chaplain's skull helm? Do the Blood Revenants believe a Chaplain will be more inspiring (to the Chapter and its allies) and intimidating (to foes) if the Chaplain bears Sanguinius' visage, i.e., he wears a death mask?

Too late, I'm happy with him and I'm not trying to paint white over a couple layers of silver... especially when it was under coated white in the first place. Thanks for the suggestion though!

I think the fact that he clearly has a crozius will be enough

So Charlo gave me the cool idea of having the Space Hulk my guys live on be the mangled remains of their ship that went into the warp... So I'm trying to build off that a little bit and bounce some new ideas around to see how plausible they are... This is probably for more of the lore savvy frater... here we go...

During the Great Scouring a couple thousand (or whatever is reasonable) Blood Angels go off with a good bit of other imperial allies to chase down some traitors. They become engulfed in a huge space battle, and it's a mess. Ships colliding everywhere... At some point during this engagement they all get sucked into the warp (can that happen? like an entire fleet or battle being consumed by or dragged into the warp somehow?) and they all continue the carnage in the warp. All the ships eventually become twisted together and now everyone is fighting over different areas of a space hulk. This war over the space hulk goes on in the warp for however long is possible or reasonable until there are only about 100 (that can be smaller, I just want enough to justify starting their own chapter) or so BAs left in the entire space hulk (other people or serfs or whatever can still be alive if necessary to actually control a ship or sapce hulk) . Soon after the "victory" the sapce hulk pops back out of the warp. The BA having no idea how much time has passed have to make a hard decision of whether they should rush to Terra or Baal. They choose Terra and end up being forced to start their own chapter by the HLOT after requesting to rejoin the BA. The HLOT are skeptical of them and send them on a crusade. The newly formed Revenants go back to the space hulk and "crusade" while rebuilding (starting) the chapter and fix up as much of the hulk as possible.

Big question:

How much control can one have over a Space Hulk? Do they just float around randomly, or can you actually control it and go wherever you want whenever you want?

At some point if I want to make another successor I can say half decided to go to Baal, while the others went to Terra and were both told to form separate chapters, but that may never happen.

For control over space hulks, it's entirely possible. Orks, for example, can pilot them.

You can have more than one hundred survivors. In fact, the more you have, the more likely it is they would be made into a successor chapter. It's more the size of the Blood Angels that matters, as extra chapters were formed to trim the excess numbers. Basically if the Blood Angels had close to 1,000, and you only had 100, they are more likely to absorb you as it's not that big a number. However, if you had 3-500 that would be a clear "jump" of battle brothers, so they'd be more likely to consider the 3-500 excess to be trimmed.

Also, a good place to ask these kinds of questions is the Liber Surgery down in the Liber Astartes subforum. Much knowledge can be found down there.

You can also post your chapter down there and the liber community will help. Sometimes... sometimes they are silent.

It can just take time... reviewing a IA takes time I suppose.

I'll stick to the camp of those without responses lol

Drop pods for RTS almost finished. I rushed these a bit so nothing too fancy. First time trying out sponge weathering... think I went overboard on certain spots of the middle pod.

  • 5 weeks later...

So I've been working on my Baal preds with my LR redeemer being up next. I want to completely finish painting my LATF+LBSF before I move on to anything else. I'm still a bit away from working on the redeemer, but I want to get some ideas or feedback about how I should paint it. It is already primed mostly black so that will be the main color.

Option 1: paint the doors and extra details red like my normal vehicle scheme.

Option 2: go with gold instead of red to show its special and will transport HQs or termies (which are gold for me)

So black/red or black/gold

Thoughts?

Edit: the gold may look out of place in my DC list because they are only black with some white or silver, but it should be fitting for my planned 1st company or other lists where it will not transport DC

Edited by Brother Lemartes

Yeah i was thinking the gold might be a little much... I plan on doing transfers and stuff at some point but not for awhile.

I'm leaning towards red and black so it matches the other vehicles. Thanks for the input!

Are Land Raiders designated to the 1st company usually? Should have I have went white and red instead (colors of my 1st co)?

There's MORE landraiders used by the First Company, but anything not a Rhino is more "checked out" from the Armory. BA has more land raiders than most other chapters, even former legion ones, so they would be able to use Land Raiders for troops or others. There's not dedicated land raiders for each company, as all companies have access. I doubt the Assault and Devastator companies use them often, but they could.

No worries! I dry brushed eshin grey all over, but the lighting makes it really hard to tell in the photos. Not sure if it's just the light or if I need to give it another go. It's more obvious on the sides I think. I'm going to do a bunch of weathering at some point, so that might help?

Edit: no highlighting on the red though, I have the wild rider red to do it, but it wasn't really noticeable in my drop pod testing it, so i think I'll skip that and just weather it with lead belcher eventually
