Damon Nightman
Brothers, I will be playing in my 1st ever apoc game in a couple weeks! Truly a bit of a dream come true. Many years ago as a child I always wanted to play but could never get past the painting. So after almost 20 years on the sidelines watching (took me awhile lol) I am finally ready to take part in a huge, epic (hopefully) 40k battle! So enough of that crap, let's get down to business! All I know is it will be between 2.5k to 3kpts. It will be demons vs imperium, or as close to that as possible. Def some chaos marines coming too.I'm pretty new and am not worried about being competitive, but do not want to be completely destroyed. The Revenants of blood must bring glory to sanguinius! With that said my plan is to use strike force razor wind. I know it's not great, but looks fun and I'm already building it so don't talk me out of it lol. I will be looking for feedback on how to kit out some units and what to put in the rest of the list. Razorwind can easily take up 2k, but what about the remaining 1k possibly? I own the renegade game, so can easily add a knight.I will post my rough list with tactics in a couple hours.Think I may make a separate thread for this to get more feedback... Charlo
Get some Knights in, you'll need them in Apoc... Though don't expect them to last that long depending on what the enemy have! Pods are pretty good, as you can saturate the board and have some fun with it. Other than that just lots of shooty goodness and a Deathstar to join the inevitable massive melee. Damon Nightman
This is what i was roughly planning to bring when i though it would be 2,500pts. Strike Force Razorwind (2000pts) (Make reserve rolls on turn one, everyone within 12 inches of Seth is fearless) -Lysios Relief Force (Crusader, Relief force: Everything starts in reserve but no drop pods, make 1 roll to come in) Gabriel Seth, Chapter Master of the Flesh Tearers Baal Predator [Heavy bolters, Twin-linked Assault Cannon] Predator [Lascannon, Overcharged engines, Twin-linked Lascannon] Stormraven Gunship [Twin Linked Assault Cannon, Twin-linked Multi-melta] Tactical Squad [Heavy flamer, Rhino, 4x Tactical Marine] Tactical Sergeant [Hand Flamer, Lightning claw] Vanguard Veteran Squad [4x Bolt Pistol, 3x Chainsword, Power Weapon, Storm Shield, 4x Vanguard Veteran]Veteran Sergeant [bolt Pistol, Lightning Claw, Storm Shield] -The Defenders of the Cathedrum(Counter-attack, Stubborn) Assault Squad [4x Assault Marines, 2x Meltagun] Assault Sergeant [bolt Pistol, Inferno Pistol] Drop Pod [storm Bolter] Death Company Squad [8x Bolt Pistol, 2x Bolter, 8x Chainsword, 10x Death Company Marine, Jump Pack, 2x Power Fist] Furioso Dreadnought [Magna-grapple] Drop Pod [storm Bolter] Power Fists [Frag cannon, Heavy flamer] Tactical Squad [Heavy flamer, 4x Tactical Marine] Drop Pod [storm Bolter] Tactical Sergeant [2x Hand Flamer] Tactical Squad [Meltagun, Rhino, 4x Tactical Marine] Tactical Sergeant [2x Inferno Pistol] Terminator Assault Squad [Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield, Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield, 3x Twin Lightning Claws DC, Flamer TAC sqaud with rhino, and whatever IK/s i bring and hide if possible. Everything else comes in turn 1 hopefully and does what it needs to. I would rather the termies come in a little later after the locator beacon are already down (i'm afraid of mishaps). I was thinking of putting Seth with the VVs in the Stormraven, but am worried about it being shot down. Other options i thought of were Seth in tac squad (lame), give VVs a rhino with seth, put seth alone in raven or in raven with tac squad and have VV deepstrike or rhino in. Edit: Made separate thread to discuss this apoc game/list Edited June 22, 2016 by Brother Lemartes
Damon Nightman
etl update, got a lot of work done on the captain and was inspired by Col. Conrad to try and do some energy effects or whatever you call it on the sword. It's not great or anything but i'm really happy with it since it's my first time ever trying it. I even did some dry brushing on the black for the first time! Had a better pic of the sword but it's saying it's too big to upload if you know what i mean... Also got Blood for the Blood god paint from GW and it's pretty awesome. Tried it out on my recently finished corbs and again it doesn't look amazing, but i'm happy with it for now. Tried to make it look like he spilled his chalice a bit and tore through someone with the chain sword (hard to tell with the evil suns colored chainsword...) Damon Nightman
yeah, i'm having too much fun with it i think. The more i look at the sword the more i think it looks off... Anyone have any thoughts on whether i should redo the sword or not?
Slothysaur
Both of the swords look great, I particularly want to try my hands at the energy one (blue or green perhaps), quite inspiring. I'd say keep at it, it's going great! Damon Nightman 1 Back to top
Damon Nightman
thanks man! check out Conrad's power sword in his recent completion in the etl thread. Should be on the current page or 1 before. He gave steps on how he did his, it looks awesome!
Damon Nightman
Something i just came up with earlier after looking at the images for our start collecting box. I think it was the line "We are his rage made manifest" on the promotion for the box that got me.... "We were all angels once, a long time ago now… Led by our father Sanguinius, the true Angel himself. Sanguinius was the Emerpor’s greatest son. He embodied all the best qualities of man. He was beautiful, strong, noble, merciful, and honorable. His loyalty unwavering and his majesty endless; willing to sacrifice anything for the Emperor and mankind... and sacrifice he did. I was there that fateful day, fighting to keep the Holy Palace of the Emperor unmolested by the traitors we once called brothers, when Sanguinius boarded the Vengeful Spirit knowing all too well that he would never return to us, his legion. He knew not only that he would surely perish, but he also knew the long lasting effects his death would have on us, his sons. He was the savior mankind needed, and we are his remnants. Ghosts of an old legion. On this day as we prepare for glorious battle, I see our father in each and every one of you. But instead of his beauty I see anger, in place of his majesty I see violence, and besides his nobility I sense pain, for we are no longer the once splendid angels of the past. Angels do not exist here anymore, the angel’s job is done. His sacrifice forever ingrained in our psyche, constantly reminding us of what we are now. We are his fury made manifest, we are his rage incarnate, and we are his harbingers of vengeance and retribution waiting to exact punishment on all the traitors, heretics, and demons. These are not curses brought upon us as some may believe, these are gifts from our father to unleash upon the heretic. He knew we were strong enough to bear the burdens of his endless fury and rage, for we are the Revenants of Death and we will not stop until our job is done." Speech given by The Lord Revenant, 1st Chapter Master of the Blood Revenants on the eve of their first battle after being reorganized as a chapter once the returned from the warp. Now to start working on my etl vows again! Edited June 28, 2016 by Brother Lemartes

Damon Nightman
Yup def stole some things from you and other members here. Thank you and everyone else for all the great inspiration! I like the reversed colors for my vehicles for 3 reasons.... - Less easily confused as just a BA tank (most people that see my army think I'm just BA or messed up on the FTs scheme and not a successor. This will change hopefully when I get around to doing chapter badges) - Like the idea of black rhinos with bright red guys jumping out. Kinda like a sea of blood or red leaving the vehicle to engulf the enemy. - I ran out of red primer and either could go white and paint over everything or go black and just paint red mostly.... I plan on making some vehicles like maybe my Baal pred more red to keep them somewhat different
Damon Nightman
Listing everything (most things) I have still to paint or assemble. I'm hoping listing this here will help motivate me a bit more... 3 x5 tac squad (painted) 1 x5 ASM (painted) 18 DC 20 VVs 10 Sternguard 5 Assault Termies (painted) 10 Termies 2 Razorbacks 3 drop pods 1 storm raven 1 Pred (painted) 1 Baal Pred 1 x3 Biker squad 1 x5 Scouts (painted) 1 furioso 1 Libby dread 1 DC dread (painted) 2 Imperial Knights 1 Capt (painted) 1 chaplain Corbulo (painted) 2 priests Dante (painted) Lemartes Seth Mephiston 2 Librarians Formations I'm working towards: Strike Force Mortalis Sanguine Wing Strike Force Razorwind Just got death masque just to use the stuff as Ba, don't plan on getting the DW codex or use them as allies. $50 for vvs, a dread, and a bunch of other parts was too good to pass up. (split it and got it for a discount). So, not sure what to actually do with the 5 VVs. Just make them what they are and have 25 VVs? Make more DC? Save some to kit bash HQs (Probably this)? Same question for the DW guys? I think it would be easy enough to remove the Iquisition symbols on them, but i really don't like how they all have what seems to be frag cannon ammo on their chests. Maybe it's something else, but why would 100% of the marines have some kind of larger ammo that only a few may have the actual weapon for? (Very minor nitpick i know, they are still very cool models). Maybe just save them for when we hopefully get the frag cannon. The newer mark armor would look weird being mixed in with mk IV i think... Need to convert the DW capt guy to something... Suggestions? Probably going to make the dread a furioso, and i bought another to make as a DC dread. So, that puts me at 2 furioso, 2 DC(Strike Force Mortalis), and 1 Libby dread... Charlo
VV: Nice parts and poses, mix em in with DC/ VV/ SG etc DV: Sterngard! They are perfect for it! Captain: He has a cool face and nice pose - maybe give him a jump pack and grail and make a priest out of him? Captain: He has a cool face and nice pose - maybe give him a jump pack and grail and make a priest out of him? VV: yeah, seems like best option DV: I agree for the most part, but those awesome upright poses would be better on melee oriented guys imo... I still feel like sternguard is the obvious/best option, but i just feel like i'm wasting the sweet poses idk. Maybe i can swap out the legs if the size isn't too noticeable? Captain: He does have a nice pose, but i'm not a fan of bare heads generally(besides librarians) though his isn't bad. I'm pretty sure it would be very easy to give him a jump pack. Not a fan of his power sword... but priest might be a good option. How do you/people generally feel about priest's without the narthecium? Damon Nightman
Chaplain i'm working one. Testing out white, which i plan to use for DC chaps. Overall i'm liking what i got so far. Tyriks
I like the paint! I see what you mean about the helm... maybe have the "teeth" a little higher up and have some black along the chin? So like a skull missing the jaw?
Damon Nightman
Yeah, that sounds like a good option I was thinking at first the way the helm is shaped, it wouldn't need that, but it seems like it will. I need to add the nose, messed up with my first try. The blood drop under the eye is kinda right where that nostril would be

Damon Nightman
Oh hes coooool! Thank you! I think I'm just going to drop the skull look on the helm and leave it all white. Damon Nightman
Testing out white face plate for my DC, needs to be touched up a bit but i think overall it looks okay Chap, not sure how i feel about the white, i think it looks good, but don' think i'd want to do any of my other chaps that way. I gave up on the skull helm, maybe something i'll try again later. Also, not sure how i feel about the sword, valor's edge. I made it red since my normal power weapons are blue, but i'm not sure if i made it look too pink...
Charlo
Both look great I think! Except the mk4 snout on that DC model, but that's GWs terrible sculpt that you have saved with a sweet paint job ;) Damon Nightman 1 Back to top
