AlphariusOmegon108
I will be very honest to you, dorn looks waaaay too small to me, if you compare it to other primarchs, they make marines look like dwarves. So maybe lengthen the legs a tad? And maybe a tad large arms would really help him look bigger Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/321935-upon-our-shoulders-a-log-of-the-vii-legion/page/2/#findComment-4594976 Share on other sites
Seneschal of the Seventh
I will be very honest to you, dorn looks waaaay too small to me, if you compare it to other primarchs, they make marines look like dwarves. So maybe lengthen the legs a tad? And maybe a tad large arms would really help him look bigger Hard to disagree... When I initially built him I was basing "Primarch size" off the FW Angron model, which is really only a head or so taller than he is. I knew Angron was supposed to be the smallest of the Primarchs, but I figured the difference between them all wouldn't be huge. Since then, I've been able to compare him to Corax, Vulkan and Mortarion, and you're right, he's way too small for Dorn, who should be somewhere in the middle of that pack. Alongside all that, I started to be really disappointed with the eagle on his back, it's too obvious a simple bit swap, but I was having trouble finding anything much better. I broke that bit off, and the model looks much more finished. All said, I think he's destined to become a praetor or Knight-Errant, who may proxy as Dorn until the FW mini comes out. I've never liked how ornate Dorn's wargear is presented in most art, and I assume the FW mini will be the same, but he'll be much closer than anything I'll produce without a lot of GS work and a ton of time. Now the question is... yellow or gold armor? Seneschal of the Seventh
Disappear for three months without posting... typical of me. I'll leave this here for the moment, to prove my continued existance. Planning a 30k apoc game at the local GW in May, so definitely more to come as I prep the army! Seneschal of the Seventh
We will spend our lives fighting to secure this Imperium, and then I fear we will spend the rest of our days fighting to keep it intact... In the far future, there will be only war. First-Captain Sigismund of the Imperial Fists, Martial Champion of Rogal Dorn, Kingsbane, The Master of Templars Private Musings to Tarik Torgaddon, II Captain of the XVI Legion Pict-Capture: I Captail Sigismund, VII Legio Astartes There's a persistent, downward bend in his sword that I cannot seem to get out, no matter how many times I subject it to the boiling/freezing water cycle to straighten. The weak point seems to be that narrowing just before the text begins, and there isn't much I can do about that. If it continues to bend, I'll have to reinforce it with some plasticard or wire along the bottom (mostly out of sight). Siggy's scenic base will be a project for another day - our Heresy gaming group is hosting a HH apoc game at the local GW on 20 May, and I've got around 3k of VII Legion left to paint in preparation. Speaking of which... Mourn not my flesh-loss, brothers, for I live on, one with blessed agony, mind alight with vengeance. My mortal body is a distant memory, a forgotten casualty of a forgotten war. My own weapons would have killed me had the xenos not, and I was a willing sacrifice. I am no more nor less doomed than any of us in these times. Dwell not on such sentiments, for they are nought but ammunition for these newest of foes to use against us. Ancient-Brother Bartholomew Agatarius, Revered Destroyer-Leviathan of the VII Legion Commentary to Unknown Tactical Legionaries During the Fortification of Lion's Gate Spaceport Pict-Captures: Ancient-Brother Bartholomew Agatarius, Revered Destroyer-Leviathan [WIP] Finishing up Brother Burt's base today; he's fast becoming one of my favorite models. I think I need a couple more to play with other weapon options. Lachdannan
Great models all round! You have really got Sigismund right, though I know what you mean about that sword, I have the same trouble. Seneschal of the Seventh
Great models all round! You have really got Sigismund right, though I know what you mean about that sword, I have the same trouble. Good to know it's not just me - misery is best shared! Thanks for the complement, though, it really means something coming from a Frater whose work I've admired for so long. Got the final wash drying on my first Sicaran Battle tank - getting into a bit of a groove here, so expect a slew of poor photos over the next few weeks, along with questionable promises of better ones to come in the future. Once it dries I'll get a few different shots, along with some WIPs on the rest of the armor for the upcoming game. Also need to get a shot of Burt on his base, now that he's all complete. Quite a dashing fellow, Burt.
