Si vis pacem, para bellum - 01/08/2016: sergeants

Nice. Good use of Anvil bits on the bolters.

Thank you. It was actually your Sons of Tyr that inspired me to used drum mags and other Anvil Industry bits on my marines.

Great work - I particularly like how fully loaded those marines are. You don't see this often...

In the pics they come across as a bit glossy though - is this intentional or just an effect from the picture?

Thank you. I'm always trying to make my marines fully equipped, even if that means scouring ebay for bits since the boxes rarely come with enough pouches, grenades and holsters for the whole waist.

I'm using a gloss varnish spray on my models.

Nice work on actually using the gear they include on the sprue. I never managed to get it 'right', so it's great to see that it can be done. I bet it was a pain in the buttocks to get all that stuff on there without the arms getting in the way laugh.png Consider me a fan of your loadout.

Thank you! I had more trouble with the pauldrons actually, the gear merely meant the arms (which I glue after I've already put on the pouches and co.) were slightly higher which, while limiting the poses somewhat, isn't as annoying as dealing with the shoulder pads.

That sure is a lot of holsters and pouches.

Space marines look naked to me without gear on their waist, and not the good kind of naked either! laugh.png

This reminds me that I need to go back to my Marines to add all the extras... I'll get round to it one day. The bits and bobs give a surprisingly different look to normal, though perhaps that's just in comparison to my own Marines. It works very well though, makes them look ready for anything.

For anything including lexical field overdose! laugh.png Thanks.

N.B. Please keep the ETL out of this thread. This includes asking why I want that. Thank you.

Please post pictures of an HQ with pouches covering his armor from toe to neck.. Extra padding, counts as Artificer Armor..

Where do you find those bolters with the box magazines? They look awesome!

I learned of them here: http://warpstoneflux.blogspot.com.tr/2014/12/anvil-industry-drum-magazines.html

Still waiting for your captain model.  You raised the par pretty high with these, I'm expecting a Captain modelled with holsters and pouches covering him from head to toe to represent Artificer Armor.  Do it.  Do it now.

Thanks everyone for the comments.

I like how all have studs on the left shoulder pad. Time for a group pic? Or will there be an HQ too?

I do have an officer in progress. I'll try to take my group picture at my local Games Workshop though, since there are painted tables with scenery there and the manager has a better camera.

My captain model actually is a finecast officer with a cape and though he came with a waist already full of gear, it doesn't quite qualify as 'from head to toe.'

These are great and yes the extras like the anvil mags and all pouches does give them the Real Marine feel thumbsup.gif

your photography could do with a simple background change with an A4 printed background as in -

http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.com.au/2010/05/photo-backgrounds.html

and i know gloss coats are hard wearing but "testors dullcote" over them as well would really make the armour look better...blush.png just sayin

Thanks for the compliment and comment.

Thanks for the suggestion too, but I'll need at least an A3 sheet for my models, so I'll have to look if there's a local printer around.

I actually like my models glossy. tongue.png

YAY more Salamanders!! They look awesome, look forward to more of them! What do you have coming down the pipe for this force? Also, as everyone else, I'm loving the look of them fully equipped. Do you have to do anything special with the construction of the minis to make it all fit around their waists?

Thank you for the comment. The only issues I had with the waist gear was fussing about with uncooperative superglue and the gear preventing some arms positions as well as putting the pauldrons where I wanted them.

I have an officer and two alternate sergeants with bolter in the work.
