By ashes, we are known - ETL V roll call

Is there a general pledge thread for AoD? I should be able to do a spartan and some javelins.

The gates open for the real vows on the 15th, at the moment we're just psyching ourselves up. There'll be a 'Strategium' thread for everyone to make their actual vows. This is just a preamble in the interests of the MDRC. ;)

My (long overdue) pledge to join the fraternity of the MDRC shall consist (at present) of 10 Lernaean Terminators and a Leviathan (choom armed of course) which could stretch out into a contemptor with a culverin or maybe even a glaive if the bug bites and I go balls out to satisfy my resin addiction

I've got a leviathan that will have choom magnetized, does that count? Other than that the BA have my pledge this year so now other choom for me.

Unless you are swearing in a choom armed model as per the appropriate unit entry for the ETL (which would require swearing for the AoD in most cases), then you don't get on the list. If it's choom-armed and being sworn elsewhere or as an OOC vow (like The Psycho has asked about) then the best I can offer you is the same separate mini-list as I promised The Psycho.

Fair enough. I may have something I'll throw together. Now where did I put those choomsticks.....

Haven't been here in a hot minute BUT for an ETL I will return.

I hereby pledge the following units for the [redacted].

- Five strong seeker squad with combi meltas

- Five strong support squad with volkite chargers (Choomers?)

- Praetor in Cataphractii Armor with a lightning claw and chainfist.

For the Emperor!

Just to be clear: This isn't the thread where the actual vows take place. This is just a preliminary thread interested in what people are going to pledge in regards to volkite weaponry. :)

But, regardless, I'll add you to the roll call. ;)

Derp. Just the volkite, then.

EDIT: Unless my wife goes into labor before this event starts.

So how exactly does this work?  I'm new around these parts.

Let me give you a run down of what goes on in these events, brother:

  • The ETL (E Tenebrae Lux) is an intra-forum competition. Each faction (subforum) are allowed to vow to paint units for their armies, with the time limit being three months.
  • The points for these units are added to the score for each faction when they are fully painted. So long as the units are valid entries in the relevant codices/army books then that's fine. If not, it's considered an out of competition vow and not used in the final tally.
  • Each person must show the units at the start of the vow in an unpainted or primed state, and then must provide evidence of completion.
  • The maximum amount of points per vow is 3000. Each person is allowed a maximum of 5 vows over the course of the ETL
  • As of last year's ETL, the amount of points from failed vows are deducted from the total from the completed vows, potentially making a mockery of all the hard progress everyone has made so far.

That's the basics of it. The full rules and guidelines will be posted up when Captain Semper (the man responsible for and running the show) makes the thread which starts the ETL. Each faction will have a 'Strategium' thread in which they can pledge what they will paint. If you wish, then check out last year's thread to get a better understanding of things.
