Converting IK to RK and daemon knights

Recommended Posts

Hi guys and girls

So, like a great deal of the fratter, I've purchased IK: renegade (actually 2 boxes).

Since I already have a Kytan Daemon engine, I was planning to convert 3 of them into daemon Knights of Nurgle, Slaanesh, & Tzeentch (using the FW rules) and leave the last one as a dual dakka undivided renegade knight.

So... I thought I'd make a thread here where we can all showcase our ideas, WIPs, and tutorials on how-to.

I've started the assembly of 1 knight (the undivided dual dakka) and went to work magnetizing the shield, stubber, and top hatch to allow for free movement.

I also filed/sliced off the sides of the imperial knight "flower" emblem on all the armored plates (cutting my fingers faaaarrr too many times), leaving only the inward pointing spear. This basically resembles the armored trim found on chaos armor and vehicles and doesn't really require much more conversion, perhaps some greenstuff to clean up. Also filed off the banner ribbon on the chest piece.

Instead of the imperial eagle/cog mechanicus bits found on the sprue which were to be placed around the head and chest, I had some skulls on chains left over from the kytan, and after bending them into the appropriate shape, I stuck the chains on the knight.

I will post up pics tomorrow, sunlight lit photos always look better.

It's starting to look chaotic, but not nearly enough. I still have no idea what to use as a crewman inside the hatch, so I need your help for ideas fellow fratter.

Also, I have a few ideas on how to make the Tzeentch knight (using bits from a necrosphinx) and will post those up once work gets underway on that model.

So... Let's get constructive with our desecration!

No pics will be forthcoming anytime soon, but....

My copy of Renegade is on order and I have two more knights waiting in line first, but I've got partial plans for a Chaos Knight.

I purchased a Dreamforge Leviathan Mortis to provide some conversion parts.  I'm going to use the skull head from the Leviathan and the scythe in some fashion and perhaps also the mauler claw from the Leviathan to hold the converted scythe, although the 15mm Leviathan claw is a bit too small and the 28mm one is too big for the Knight, so I'm up in the air.  I'll be using the smoke stacks from the Leviathan too, since they're pretty "Chaos-y".

I think I'll also try to convert the feet and move three toes to the front in a configuration like the Warhound.  The Leviathan parts should come in handy here, because the Mortis has little toe claws that I think can be adapted easily to provide extra Chaos.

Magnetized knight. Except for the legs, everything is movable. No real chaos/renegade conversions here. Going to add some skulls and chains soon. The face... I was thinking of using the skull mask shown on the bottom pic and adding some of the warp talon jump pack bits around it to chaosify it a bit.

Here you can see the armor plates with shaved off flower symbols, leaving the central arrowhead. Going to use small triangles of plasticard to add smaller arrowheads on the other parts of the trim.

Where have you been adding the magnets? I Plan on Magnatising the Weapon options on my Pair of Knights but... a little lost, and scared
