+++E Tenebrae Lux V - Space Wolves Strategium+++

I have been working like a (insert cliche term here) recently... I got a promotion at work, and along with it I get to work nearly every day this month...

Have you got much painting done then, Rhaps, you ask. No. No, I have not. I barely see my wife or this thing they call outside. I do have the 1st of July off and plan to use it to sleep and paint.

I feel you there RPR

Started working on the Storm Eagle tonight. Just laid down a base of The Fang and began some other colors.

I'm hoping to have it finished by this time next week. That'll give me a little over a month on 6 figures, possibly doing another individual vow.

Well my SW friends, I see progress for sure, but things are a bit thin on the completions front. Surely some of the smaller vows are close to completion this week? I really would like to see your completion rate jumping by at least 10 percentage points!

I, Viddar, rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and for the glory of Rout vow to complete :

Wolf lord, thunder hammer, storm shield, thunderwolf, fellclaws teeth 215

Wolf guard battle leader, power fist, storm shield, thunderwolf mount 140

Ragnar 195

Rune Priest lv2 85

Rune Priest lv2, on a bike 105

for a total of 740 points.

This summer has been crazy but there looks to be a calm in the storm so better late than never.

P.S. for pictures how do I control the size when I post, would like to make the final pictures bigger but not sure how.

Welcome Viddar! A worthy vow and although it cannot be counted against the SW total, you'll still be eligible for Custos Fidei if you make it or the Badge of the Oathbreaker if you fail! ;)

So, I promised some progress. This the last of my stock Wulfen to complete, then I think I'll move on to the Storm Eagle.

And then, I went and did a bad thing...

Wife was not thrilled about how much I spent, but she'll get over it. If I can get the lead out, I'll try to vow the Praetor along with the not-Bran. I just have to decide whether I want to take the blade off and but an axe head on or not.

Wife not thrilled? How come? I thought all wives are thrilled when you spend obscene amounts of cash on plastic soldiers to add to the other unpainted plastic soldiers that you are already out of space to store them. Are you sure it's not something else she's upset about?

UPDATED TO THIS POINT!

I'm doing the best I can on my end. Only way I can paint faster is if I forgo sleep altogether.

All the metal is almost complete. Just gotta work the main engines. Not really much to do after that; what little gold/brass, details, clean up, then weathering.

Only thing that is bugging me is breaking up the color on here. The side doors will be white, waiting for Bloodmaw transfers in the future, but I'm at a loss for other ideas to break up the grey/blue. Any suggestions would help.

I'm working hard on getting my stuff done. Sadly it takes time, due to the warmth I have to work with quite much water, which means thinner paint and longer drying in between.

But: For the first time I got yellow right. I thinned it down so much and aplied it generously. After 3 procedures of that I got a fine, crisp, bright layer of yellow.

Wolf Scouts in a white and light-grey paint scheme was a bad idea.

Don't know if it's the heat or just the colours, but the application is... tricky. And even thinned down Nuln Oil on it made the test mod look like a seagull drowned in literal oil.

Have to rethink their paint scheme. Guess I'll go with my regular WG paint scheme.

Hail Brothers,

progress!....well, some at least. 80% done.

Hope you like him, quite proud of the outcome, took his sweet time. Now on to Logan and his transportation.

@cody: Nice one Brother, I'd make the biggest panels and maybe the ones on the side of the wings in white and see how that looks. From there maybe some small panels here and there and that's it.

I'm learning how to use my airbrush, so I have started and then stripped my models twice so far. However, I now have a base coat and a wash I am happy with. I plan on getting more work done this long weekend, and my goal is to get my vow completed.

For Russ, for glory!

My count as canis

not to happy with how he came out, but I didnt really put much effort into him. He was more so an experiment model, sculpting, modeling and painting wise

He looks just fine to me, I really like your painting style.

Getting more basecoating done this afternoon, hoping to get everything done by late next week. If I have the energy I'll post some WIP pics, but no guarantees.

So, babysitter calling in sick means I got an extra day off of work. I was able to take advantage of the time and really got some progress made on the Storm Eagle.

So the white is where I'm looking to add color on the bird. Unsure if I wanna stick with white since I have so many layers in it already, or do red or yellow. Minus that dilemma, it only needs lights, clean-up, and wash/weathering. With the holiday on Monday, I could finish this beast within a week. That's impressive for me.

Totally not ETL related, but my oldest boy may have gotten the 40k bug, and he's only 2. Pic of his first mini over in my blog.

Hahaha! Great progress - now me saying you're lagging behind in terms of completion was not meant to imply that there is no progress at all. It appears it's quite the opposite! :D

@Triszin:

Very cool idea, definitely something else. And you can change up the Thunderwolf riders loadout by judt using another marine.

Definitely worth a thought - might do that in a similiar way.

@codyrstuart:

A Week? Wow... Just wow.

Can't tell you what to do with the colours. While red or yellow would be similar to pack markings, white could be something "special".

Going to bring the scouts to my mom's work, so she can throw them into the ultrasonic cleaning bath - as far as I could read it's a very effective and fast method to cleanse them, without a negative effect to neither plastic, resin nor metal.

Will try and report.

Thunderwolf Cav is finished. When I get to the end of aaaall of it I might add some freehand runes.

Started work on the rhino. Somehow I don't think it's an official model. Not because of the detail grade, but rather its weight and feel? The bare plastic looks "softer", similar to old sprues? Difficult to describe. Some parts of the other models in the collection I bought had visible bubbles - under the basecoat they already had - on parts that SHOULD be from regular plastic sprues - and I never saw any noteworthy bubbles in GW plastics in 15+ years of hobby. The same goes for the Harald/Wolflord parts on the Thunderwolf Cav, I know it's (supposed to be) Finecast, but it's so... rough and has many bubbleholes. Quite fishy.

Generally the guy apparently didn't clean up his models, sprue remnants here and there, huuuuge amounts of glue, unregular basecoat, no coloura beyond basecoat, strange poses... *shivers* Glad I could bring all those poor Wolves into my home.

Hahaha! Great progress - now me saying you're lagging behind in terms of completion was not meant to imply that there is no progress at all. It appears it's quite the opposite! :D

Quite alright Cap. It was merely me just wishing out loud to be faster.
