+++E Tenebrae Lux V - Horus Heresy Strategium+++

Recommended Posts

As it begins, so too shall it end (which is a bit chaotic, really).

There's good news and there's bad news. Bad news is my mother is in for another hospital stay for a procedure on her hand starting tomorrow morning; good news is that I have finished this beast. Well... finished to about 95% of my satisfaction. The only thing I didn't get to is the weathering of the tracks which was mostly going to be done with pigment powder, but my practice attempts on that didn't go well and I'd need more time to work on the technique. I can live with a 5% compromise.

I, Brother Chaplain Kage,  rise to the challenge of E TENEBRAE LUX and vow to complete one Macharius Vulcan from Imperial Armour: Apocalypse for 425 points on or before August 15th, 2016. Success will bring eternal glory to the allied Auxilia of the Dusk Raiders, and failure will doom me to bear the Badge of the Oathbreaker until the year-end.

Note; Book II: Massacre states: "In order to represent this diversity when it comes to Super-heavy vehicles and Flyers, it is perfectly acceptable to use specific Imperial Super-heavy vehicles and Flyer units from Forge World's wider Imperial Armour range such as Imperial Armour, Apocalypse, or Imperial Armour Aeronautica, which do not already have an era-specific counterpart listed in a Horus Heresy supplement".

I took more pictures from more angles, but I think the problem I keep having is that my little photo setup isn't really up for a model this large and the rest of them didn't turn out all that well.

I'm almost done with part of my first vow. I promise I'll get it wrapped up. Multiple work trips while doing interviews has been difficult. This model has definitely helped calm the nerves.

The Potato has returned! Because I suddenly realised I was dating letters as August and remembered I haven't painted since...it seems 17th June!

Vow complete. Sadly probably won't have time to complete my third vow due to moving into new digs at the weekend, alas. My poor Salamanders get so neglected these days.

Sadly lost an Auxilia's head and the Malcador sponsons so..that'll be a fun job looking for them.

I now officially have completed ALL of my Auxilia and World Eater forces. Only my Salamanders remain incomplete, too busy getting massacred probably...

Sweet mullet of Russ!!!! That thing is gorgeous BCK you've done an absolutely astounding job on that beast.

What is the name of that artisan award in the ETL? Yeah, give him that.

:cussing beautiful

Thanks, guys.

I'm happy with how it turned out, but even more happy I got it done in time. :)

First part of my vow is done. This started life as spare bitz kicking around but turned out to be my favorite model to paint so far.

Sorry for the bad pictures, didn't have my glasses on (still can't accept I need em). Destroyers will be inbound soon devil.gif

I fiddled around with my light setup, adding another light (total of three) among a few other things, to see if I could get some better pics of the Mach.

I think part of the problem is that the matte varnish I put on it is still a little shiny. I need to find a good flat coat for it.

Nice to see some more completions, too! Balthamal, be careful this close to the end. O_o

And on BCK's note of being careful, I'm bowing out for this year. Would have loved to have put down and completed 5 vows again, but there was just too much real life stuff going on in the last couple of days for me to formulate anything worthwhile. Cheers to all those who have completed or continued to complete their vows! Big ups to Kurama for his boundless enthusiasm for the ETL, and Demonl for his mad, ridiculous Warlords.

Finally, Captain Semper, you are a wonderful human being for running this. Thanks again for giving me the opportunity to stretch myself.

BCK that tank is just gorgeous, glad to see you completed it

My 5th vow is almost complete, scalded my left hand so been waiting for it to heal a bit. Down to just 5 Dark Furies left so I will try to get them done tonight or tomorrow, I will not lose my points!

Enthusiasm.... Nah not me.

Sorry I dipped off for a bit, my ex fiancé and I separated half way through etl and now I'm unfortunately for the first time in 8 years a solo agent.

Now to find me a girl who will follow me into hobby madness

Hey, I grew up building tanks and airplanes, watching my older brother using advanced weathering techniques on his models. Nothing against 40k modelers, but realism has always been a big thing for me and I would love to see more 40k players get into the scale modeling stuff. As for the Testors Dulcote, I've heard it's amazing... but can also damage paint jobs or even the model underneath because the solvent in it is so strong.

And yes, my mother is home today and doing good. :)

dang dude... sending ya a bro-hug and a beverage from the states. Something must be in the air,  my son has moved an hour away with his mother and my folks let me know they are moving to florida.... Ive been painting up a storm (for me) and grateful for our hobby to help out with real life stress.

Fantastic work BCK - this tank looks amazing! :o

Also congratulations to the Potato for completing his sizeable purple/black vow as well as to Jimbo on his completion! :tu:

Keep pushing guys, nothing is decided yet!

UPDATED TO THIS POINT!

Thanks for the new pics BCK...or maybe old pics and Im finally on something bigger than my 6+msn-wink.gif... fantastic stuff- you going to give the tools wood handles? msn-wink.gif

Yeah, they're new. Not going to do wood handles. A lot of tanks I was using for reference painted over them the same color as the body regardless of what they were made of

The summer has been very good, on the weather side at least! cool.png But that also means low amount of paint time.. well well, after a bit of last week rush the vow is now complete! They are all tabletop and thats the goal for the moment. Thats all for this time!
