Daemon Handedness

Recommended Posts

The old (metal) Daemons were both left and right handed, in all of the generations of sculpts that I can see/remember.

The new ones are all handed the same way I suspect for the following reasons:

1) They double(d) up for use in WHFB, and having all the weapons handed the same helps with ranking the unit up

2) They are multipart plastics, and to ensure as many combinations of arms+bodies as possible, all the weapons are handed alike. You see this in other GW multipart plastic kits too (for example, some Marine kits where all the pistols are handed one way, and all the melee weapons are handed the other way).

For left-handed plastics, the arms holding the standards may be a good bet for a suitable weapon-swap to make left handed Daemons. :)

Thanks, unfortunately, what I really want are right open hands, and I cannot seem to find any.

Ah, I see. Well I think WHFB Ghouls have hands that are similar in size to the Bloodletters', and they are mostly open I think - you could bits-order a few and transplant them maybe?

The Plaguebearers are tricky as some (all?) only having three fingers... You could just use a suitable hand and trim the number of fingers down though. Again, Ghoul hands would probably be okay if you trimmed them; alternatively Zombie hands could work of you transplant them in pairs?
