Today my IG (AM)....

Finally decided to go through my bits and see how many heavy weapons teams I could make with them.  I've been putting this off.  I have 19 teams to make.  I just had to order some more bases for 12 of them.  Not looking forward to painting them.  HWTs are  probably my least favorite thing to paint.

Mix it up and do both. Variety is ok.

Played 2 ITC missions last night against night lords, warp talon heavy.

Lost 3 armor pieces turn 1. Couple of failed charges and scions dropping in swung it my way momentarily but he was too far ahead on points. Played 4 or 5 turns but it was a blowout.

Game 2. Small change to my list and hammer and anvil deployment. Lost 2 guardsmen and 4 bullgryn top of turn 1. Fired back with the full brunt of the imperial guard. Pushed chimeras and sentinels way forward, almost his deployment zone. Killed havoks left and right, 12 of 15 i believe. Popped a couple chaos marines here and there. Vindicator killed a demon prince, 6 to wound, 6 damage, 2 headshot rolls. Charged in remaining bullgryn into demon prince that had killed the others(I had heroically intervened with a psyker and a priest to pin the prince, pulled casualties to get bullgryn out of combat.) Bullgryn smashed demon prince to pieces. Opponent conceded bottom of turn 1. I was making 5+ saves like it was my job, it was so bad I told him he could start rolling my dice.

Unsure on the colours for the standard thinking maybe a red border, gold tassels, white skull and scrolls, then a tan star on a grey background? Or a gold star, tassels and edging, dark green background, red centre, skull and parchments white. What’s your thoughts?

Played ITC mission 4 against new blood of baal nids last night. Only got through 3 turns before he needed to leave. I won 15 to 14. Turn 4 was going to be brutal for him as I had gotten 1 of his exocrine down to 6 wounds and the other to 1 wound. His characters had stepped out of the ruins to try and deal with my bullgryn, so were going to be easy targets for my vindicare.

He hamstrung himself using malanthropes(I think, -1 to hit aura) trying too hard to maintain that bubble. Leaving his stuff in kind of suboptimal positions.

I've noticed my army really struggles turn 1 and 2 to kill anything and then its like turn 3 and 4 on half my opponents army has disappeared.

He also used the adaptive thingy where he gives up his warlord trait and buffs a unit and then uses a stratagem to give a buff to another unit. 2x9 warriors that ignore ap1 and ap2 are really scary.

Got the airbrush out last night to varnish some of my other models and got the base coat down on my 2 new LRBTs too :D

Doubt I'll have much time to do anything else done on them until the new year since I will be travelling back home next weekend and I won't be taking my painting kit internationally :ermm:

Painted a dozen infantry models and finished a taurox this weekend (first vehicle I had done, was testing weathering stuff). Brings my tally to 37 Infantry 1 vehicle fully painted.

Got some infantry conversions to do but tempted to keep hammering out infantry and be done with them before moving onto the tanks

If you dont hate your life after painting infantry like that, wait on the vehicles. Use then when you need a break from the little guys.

It's more that I need to bulk out points so I can get some 500-750 point games in. I figured it was best to start with 3x10 lasgun lads and have started doing sargeants and officers too.

My options now are:

Specialist lads (3 each of plasma, flamer, melta, medic)

Aforementioned vehicles (1 chimera, 1 russ, 1 demolisher, 1 macharius)

Artel W "totally not Ciaphas Cain and friends" gang for my officers and commissar(s)

I'll be sure to take a few photos for you fine folk this evening - would be nice to get some feedback! :)

Well, here's my force so far (at least what has a lick of paint on it - Theres a baneblade, macharius vulcan, and some more vehicles not shown here)

An as-yet unnamed but grizzled sarge to add some life to the horde of 2-part cadians I used for my 3 troop choices to start with.

My first-ever vehicle that I painted to completion, where I learned a lot about oil washes, pigments, and general weathering. I used the taurox as the test-bed as I'm not too keen on the model, but the process made it grow on me.

Today (or rather yesterday) I got to work on some more of the motor pool, doing the color modulation and getting the basic 2 tones down. After this I gave it a coat of varnish, hit all the metals and some canvas items (stowage and the chimera heavy bolter cover in the hull). Today I'll give it a heavy varnish of gloss, let it dry and go to town with the oils.

Got a painting station set back up after 6 months of real life interruption (buying a house and unhealthy amounts of DIY) and decided to try my hand at OSL. Not perfect but I can see where I went wrong.

Intent to get the rest of the infantry finished so I can finally be proud of my guard outside of low points games (40 painted infantry isn't enough!)

Probably should have just got on with the infantry rather than starting the OSL thing as now need to do it on the other plasma gunners :/

Currently working on a Squat Commissar and another rifleman... already finished are 3 riflemen, a sgt and heavy... by the end of this little commission project, I will have sculpted a full squad :) .

Sadly... the only pictures I can post are the ones I've already shown (due to not spoiling the deal ;) ):
