Setting the mood...

"They will not know why we turned from the Lion.

They will know nothing of our motives, but you can know them. You can know it all. Come listen, and you will hear my secrets. Come listen, and we will talk of Luther and Lion El’Jonson. We will talk of schism and civil war.

We will give voices to the dead.

Come, listen, hear my secrets.

Let us talk of the Dark Angels and the beginnings of their fall."

-Zahariel, Descent of Angels

A great opportunity to do much with very little has presented itself, and I feel it is time a take a break from the Iron Tenth and delve into more... secretive affairs. Thus a new project is born, and a new thread for this purpose. I will be converting a bunch 40k Dark angels, mostly in post heresy marks VI - VII into mark, II, III and IV. I hope to turn these models into a small but characterful force over time!

Stay tuned for more msn-wink.gif

I eagerly await your work good sir. What scheme are ya working with breh?!?!? Black or the green? One last question, loyalist or traitor?

By the look of it I'd say traitors... unless they're ones who resent the Lion and Luther but still follow the Emperor or something?

I think that's more what I meant to ask...

You have my interest.

Thanks to both of you, you can expect what I hope to be great things! They will be Fallen ;) As for colours, this will be a tough decision to make. In canon, the Lutherian Angels wore the old black of the Legion. With the new Heresy Novels, It seems The Lion had already adopted the green by the time of the Imperium Secondus instead of post Caliban. This leaves me space to play, or wait until FW gives them an official scheme.

I plan on having a mixed bag in the lot. Not all fallen had the same information access or rank within Luther's inner circle, which will lead to them having varying motives to join the rebellion against the Lion. I have a slight penchant for those who would be loyal to the Emperor to the last, being that many are first generation Terrans from the proto legion stages msn-wink.gif

@Jimbo13: Wait, there were loyalist Dark Angels? huh.png

Who knows? Luther knows!

Here's my first set of WIP pictures. These miniatures are by no means done, I still have lots to do to make them look the part. Still, criticism is always welcomed.

With a newborn on the way, the hobby budget is getting stretched pretty thin, so I am tackling this project with some old Dark Angels a friend had lying around and raiding the bits box like never before!

With no Further delays....

Razan the Grim

A dour Terran legionnaire who's complete lack of tact, inability to provide more than a grunt as an answer and everlasting grim determination have bestowed upon him the title of "the Grim". It is is that not even the Imperial Munitarium was able to get more than his first name out of him, to the dismay of many an imperial registration clerk. These traits made him a perfect fit for the Legion Seekers and Recon environments, where he excelled over the course of over 100 campaigns during the Great Crusade and the Unification Wars of Terra. Once recalled to Caliban along with Luther, he found himself ill suited for instructor duties and was quick to volunteer for fringe patrols.

Plutorias "Little Lion" D'Alons

A fierce close quarters fighter with a noted disdain of what he refers to as coward's tactics; any plan not involving slaying the enemy whilst witnessing the lights of their eyes fading away under one's thorough blade work invites complacency and an eventual disconnect with the realities of warfare. It is said that he still carries the bolt pistol originally issued to him as he rose to the ranks of the Astartes, and has yet to draw the weapon from it's holster, let alone fire a single shell. He as earned the name of "little Lion" for his skillful use of his two handed Terranic Sword, once cleaving a Ork warlord in twain in a single stroke on is third day of continuous fighting in a space hulk.

Posing looks good, but what are you planning for the faces?

Acid bolts to the face? Or are they being mysterious?

Either hidden in the cowl's shadow or transplant some heresy mark helms. The whole faceless theme I am starting to dig, as it adds to the mystique of the fallen, like a shroud, not unlike some watchers in the dark ;)

And here I thought this was going to be a whine post about their Legion perks and had a slew of skirt jokes to throw in here. I are disappoint!

Love the duelist guy, I'll even forgive the Gav Thorpe quote. biggrin.png

Lies and deceit, how fitting! My Dark Angels lore is on the weak side as I only have really read the Heresy Novels yet. I will improve it as I can!

Small update. I am making my own legion shoulderpads and it's going well. I just need to find more of the icons I am using.

I need to crowd source a little something. What would you guys think of an Exotic pelt strapped to the shoulder of Plutorias? It would add a little prestige and credential by displaying such a glorious kill.

looking good so far. I'd consider elongating the hoods so they become more cowl like, to conceal the face. Currently they look too much like shadowseers to me.

I can definitely try that, go for the Tyrael style. Will post an attempt sometime this week ;)

Either that, or shading the top of the face. Eddie Eccles has some good examples in his fallen army

Here, I'm not sure if he used the straight DW knight head or elongated the hood to cover the face more.

I dig it, it's very technical as for as methods go. Looks like the kit head. I will be fishing for more bits this week for sure. thanks for this ;)

Like the fluff and conversions!

thanks old chap, expect more fluff from me in future. I've gone a little too much into modeling and too little fluff to support my projects. Rectifications are in order!

Got more work done today! A ragged great beast trophy, upgraded the open hand and kit bashed shoulder pad.

He's got the Sigs pose down pat .

And he looks super awesome !!!

Thanks!

Moving on Xenith's suggestion, here are pictures of the two models with elongated cowls. I also made some progress on the grumpy sniper.
