The Black Reaches (DW) - OOC

I'm not actually planning to interrogate/torture the Librarian. XD

But that doesn't mean that Inellia likes him much.

Edit: I was mostly just pointing out how Inellia actually has a Per of 35, so she isn't that good with the Scrutiny skill.

And I'm not sure whether interrogating an Astartes would work in any case.

Sorry Banjoboy happy.png

Ok, in that case I will try to bring myself up to speed ASAP. Anything I should know?

I suppose we need our GM to anwser this for you properly, but here are the basics of what's going on: Our PC Astartes have been sent to the Deathwatch for doing something that was some degree of heresy (each individually, they are each being punished by their respective chapter masters). The kill team is being led/watched by my character, Sister Superior Inellia of the Order of the Valorous Heart (who herself has 40 years of experience in the Ordo Hereticus).

So far we have a Black Templar Assault Marine, a Iron Hands Apothecary, a Novamarines Librarian, and Inellia (who is more of an interrogator and witch/heretic hunter herself (with some experience with daemons)).

We are using the modified weapon statistics, which start on page ten of this document.

I think that's all I have to tell you. It would be nice if Cryptix (our GM) could fill in anything I missed, but I think you could start rolling up a character (rolled stats, no point buy) nowish. tongue.png

I would just say that you start at Respected Renown, but you got a deal with the Quartermaster that you can get any Human-level equipment for free due to your inquisitorial status. IE, you still need the established renown for bolters and such, but lasguns and sister bolters you can get at respected. And yeah, treat it as a combi-weapon but make it take 2 Full actions for the reload.

So all standard ammunition for a given weapon has a requisition of 0?

What about human frag grenades? Inferno Shells for a Godwyn-De-Az pattern bolter (from the DH1 Core Book)? Special grenades (like hallucinogen) from the DH1 Books?

Can I use Astartes grenades? That would be fun!

You can use Astartes grenades, but at regular cost.

Human equipment includes their grenades, yes.

Special grenades you can get for free, but make a fellowship test (once for each requisition session, not once per item)

What happens when I fail on my Fel test (Inellia has Fel 34)?

Dante if you fial, you just don't get to requisition human special weaponry - the Forge Father Armourer is too wrapped up in his collection.

And Sinner, at the moment we're using Dark Heresy (1st Edition), Dark Heresy: Ascension, Deathwatch rulebook, Living Errata, Deathwatch: The First Founding, Deathwatch: Mark of the Xenos, Deathwatch: Honour the Chapter, Deathwatch: Rites of Battle, Deathwatch: the Emperor's Chosen, and Deathwatch: the Outer Reaches.

And the Inquisitor's Handbook for DH 1E!

I think Inellia will just requisition 1 Concussion Grenade (18 Req, Rites of Battle). It only weighs half a kg, and does 4d10 I with 3 pen, concussive and Blast (3). Seems like a good investment. This is in addition to all the "human" ammo and frag grenades she is taking.

I thought about taking a Stummer, but I didn't want to drop ammo to make it fit.

Yes actually, the gang's missing a Techmarine. Also, Dante, forgot to mention, your SB counts as half of it's value (rounding up) for grenade purposes - IE the range and adding to non-explosive grenade damage.

OK. I might argue that the concussion weighs the same as a human frag grenade and not listed as an "Astartes Concussion Grenade," just a "Concussion Grenade"

Your call. Just let me know what you think. happy.png

Reserving the spot, will tweak some details and the sheet to more fit the criteria but nothing major will be changed so I think I should be ready to RP and finish everything before we reach any point that tests are needed. Also, if we're using Rites of Battle, can we select/roll the mark of our power armor ?

This is how I would upload the sheet after making the appropriate alternations to match our current game: https://www.games-workshop.com/embeds/266018920/content?start_page=1&view_mode=scroll&show_recommendations=true

Name: Kamael
Chapter: Dark Angels
Speciality: Techmarine
Appearance: Brown eyed, clean shaven and a bit shorten than most of his fellow Marines, Kamael wears the badge of the Dark Angels on his pauldron with pride as the symbol of the Adeptus Mechanicum on his red helmet. While in Deathwach he often wears the white robes of his Chapter denoting him as a veteran instead of the red robes of his Mars brethren.

Background: Taken from one of many undocumented recruiting worlds of Dark Angels, the Marine that would once be named Kamael was a son of a minor lord on a feudal planet. Raised to be knighted in a militaristic tradition, he made a talented but a bit haughty recruit once the Unforgiven came to collect their due. Once broken by the Chaplins, he was taught to retain his pride but respect those of his Chapter, both above and bellow him and the skills were put to great use during his training along with other recruits.

While capable in a fight, his true talent turned out to be his sharp mind and a knack for technology as his family, despite it's low standing, had the honor to maintain a small number of working power weapons in their armory - an inheritance from distant ancestor whose name was forgotten, although speculated to be an officer during the Horus Heresy. Due to this reason Kamael was elected as one of the few new recruits to be sent away to Mars where he would learn the secrets of the machine and technology more intimately that most of his fellow battle-brothers.

Returning years later, he was surprised that instead of being welcomed warmly by his brothers he was kept at arms-length, the Chapter's inherent distrust turned towards him. Only upon joining the halls of his fellow Techmarines he understood what happened and that while they might never be trusted by the rest of their brothers they have a duty. While he felt betrayed, he also found some measure of new pride in the fact he had to do something for the Chapter that most other could not and even if it was often a thankless job too much depended on him.

With time Kamael matured, shedding his bitterness towards the Chapter and his youthful arrogance, instead replacing them both with confidence and a strong sense of duty. Nevertheless he was secretly glad when he was "cleared" to take the Long Vigil with the Deathwatch following a small "argument" with one of the Chapter's Chaplins, the infamous Asmodai. It was a chance not only to do his duty and represent his Chapter with pride, but also be among other veteran warriors that would appreciate his prowess and knowledge fully. He might never learn of the hunt for the Fallen due to his status, but perhaps it's better for him as he can still crack a smile on occasion.

Update: I have confirmed with Cryptix (via PM) that since the concussion grenade weighs .5 kg Inellia can throw it as normal.

Honestly, for the most part, we've never really used Squad Mode in our PbP Deathwatch Games and it isn't all that required. For the most part, being Squad Leader just means you'll be calling the Shots and/or selecting our Oath.

If we are using Squad Mode, for rules purposes we could have you count as a Tactical Marine from, say, the Ultramarines or something.
