The Berserkers of Uran - a thread from the past

Blood. As always, it starts with blood. Whether it came with the cursed fate that led them to be driven from Imperial records, or from the countless living that they have consumed, the former seventh Legion known as the Berserkers of Uran have descended upon the Imperium to glut themselves upon the viscera they so crave.

These scattered fragments of a once mighty force are barely recognizable as the men they once were. The beastly horror that dwells within them has taken form, twisting their bodies and minds into new forms that put shape to the true monster within. Those they call the Wretched leap and scream in distorted mockeries of humanity, matted fur wrapping around snarling pugnacious faces and shedding from gnarled talons that bear only a passing likeness to their former humanity. Towering nightmares stalk in their wake, lupine monstrosities capable of devouring entire squads of Space Marines single-handedly, and shrugging off all but the most catastrophic of bodily harm.

At their front stand the ones that history would know as Architects, the most hideously warped of their kind. These rarities have managed to combine the intellect of an Astartes with the raw might of the beast, and command the frothing hordes at their back with frightening efficiency, turning a rambling murder of mutants into a living thresher. They themselves lend their strength to the swirling melee, tearing apart even the most well armored foe with their bare claws.

Those few Berserkers that remain recognizable as human are an offence to the nobility of the Emperor’s gene-craft. Latticed with kill-tally scars and daubed ashes of their victims, they trample anything in their path into a bloody paste, bombarding their foes with profane chemical weaponry before mangling the mewling survivors with chain-blade and knife edge.

Sire of the Berserkers of Uran

For his might and utter ruthlessness, Raktra has the undying reverence of his warriors, having instilled in them a hatred for all weakness. When he bloodies his hands in their midst, he inspires them to acts of savagery without parallel in the Imperium’s armies.

Raktra's attacks that do not possess the "template" or "blast" type ignore enemy Feel No Pain rolls. In addition, friendly models with the Legion Astartes: Berserkers of Uran special rule in this detachment gain the Preferred Enemy special rule in close combat only.

Skyhunter

His battles with the “angels” of Uran have left Raktra with an abiding hatred of all creatures that fly. As a consequence of this and the thruster packs integrated into armour, he has become adept in destroying them.

Raktra possesses the Vector Strike special rule, in spite of not being a Flying Monstrous/Gargantuan Creature. Raktra's Vector Strike attacks are performed upon one enemy unit that he has moved within 3" of in the movement phase, but are otherwise carried out as normal.

Suggested changes, clarify 'Preferred Enemy: Everything!' for PE, and chsnge 'in spite of not being', say 'as if he were a Flying Monstrous Creature'.

As for being within 3", this is quite a large effect: I forget the effect of Raktra's stilts/moonshoes, but don't they move like Jump infantry?

The impact thrusters give additional movement when running/charging. I believe its +3", so they are not quite as fast as Jump Troops unless they charge and they also can't avoid terrain in the same way.

Just checked the Myrmidon entry, and they have the "Everything" bit on their Preferred Enemy, so yeah I'll add that in. R.e the Primarch's Vector Strike, the 3" selection range is to make up for the fact that he can't actually move over units like normal Vector Strike. And yeah, the thrusters add 3" to any form of movement instead of usual jump pack boosts, so slower normal movement, but better run/charges.
