Based on what's been said so far I'll definitely be up for getting involved. One question though; what is an acceptable starting point for models chosen? Specifically, I have a few characters and a dreadnought that have been base coated blue that are well overdue to attention. Would these be ok or is bare/undercoated preferred?

To get this off launched, I still need:

• People to check the rank lists and help me iron out the last details;
• The start and end dates;
• Banners and badges (Isinfier said he would do these and he's busy until Saturday/Sunday).

Once that's done, we can launch this thing. :tu:

Jumped the gun a bit and whizzed up some visuals. Isinfier obviously has the choice to ignore them and make his own (these were quickly thrown together, nothing special) as he said he would do this and I was a bit too impatient. ;)

I would say minimum of 10/5 models for the assault/tactical  ranks respectively. This would require at least a little effort to complete each (for slow painters like me it would be a feat).

 

The two most ambiguous are the Lexicanum and Chaplain. Would the chaplain be a vote at the end of the competition?  Regarding Lexicanum your wording is a little bit awkward considering this is a model by model type event, so there's gonna be models painted up that don't make up legal units. Maybe limit it to HQ choices painted? Or maybe for every character model (i.e. squad sergeants on up).

The Chaplain ranks could be decided by the event Custodian(s) (ie. the organisers) and/or public vote. Whatever you people prefer.

The Librarian ranks are a little tricky but since Librarians are rare in the fluff, there shouldn't be too many of them. Perhaps we should do it per vow and increase the word count? So a minimum of 1000 words of fluff per vow?

I've amended the specialist rank list with the changes. :)

 

And what kind of font do you have in mind? And what dates do you think would work for the event?

Tbh I don't have a better font in mind (I'm not particularly talented in the world of writing), but the current font just looks a little plain to me.

But considering it's the same as you used for your IFE event, I don't see why consistency couldn't be achieved. It has my stamp of approval (for what that's worth ).

Book Antqua looks nice.

Times New Roman - we are the chapter with roman influence, aren't we not? ;)

But the UBM is rather different to the IFE so perhaps visual coherence is something we'd like to avoid having too much of? In any case, Book Antiqua looks good but I'll let Isinfier develop the visuals further. :)

 

What about a start date? Any ideas/preferences?

Saturday 3rd September? That leaves people a week and a bit to prepare. It'll also give everyone time to have a last look at the rules and ranking system before we start.

 

I was thinking two months for the event would be a good thing so it doesn't drag on for too long but still gives people time to paint stuff.

 

Oh, and model-wise, should be a have a small chart for vehicles and such (ie. Bikes = 2 models, a Dreadnought = 3 models, a Rhino-based vehicle = 4 models, etc) and differentiate them from infantry-sized models or should we say that vehicles always only count as one model?

Why shouldn't they count as models?

Agreed, they are bigger and will probably take more time to paint but we all should be in this for the glory of Ultramar and not for rewards or badges.

2 months sounds good to me.

I got 2 weeks of holiday coming up and 2 weeks of business travel. Just have to tell my wife that I will paint my plastic dudes during holidays.
