Thanks.

The method I used was : Primer, airbrush a mix of Nuln Oil and Abaddon black.

Then airbrush a little mix of Ashern Grey and a dash of fenrisian to block out the large panels in grey. After that a dry / edge brush of pure Fenrisian (watered down a bit though to not be too stark of a contrast). And that's it.

Thanks.

Sorry for bad lighting but a pic of my attempt at a Xeno blade sword.

My Squad so far! I decided to go with black for the Frag Cannon as in red it looked too much like a giant nerf gun.

All that's left is my blackshield with power fist and claw, 2 vanguard vets and my Dreadnought smile.png

Thanks for looking and hope it helps motivate others.

Really like the clean black armour and was wondering what you used.
Thank you.

For the black I did the following:

Airbrushed base coat of Vallejo Black Primer

First highlights airbrushed in Tamiya XF-63 German gray

Extreme highlights airbrushed with Tamiya XF-19 Sky gray

Now this leaves you with a garish looking mini. The magic is a few thin coats of Nuln Oil. I don't know how many. I stopped when I was happy with the look.

Hope this helps.

Great tutorial! I'm not sure if I prefer a semi-gloss black finish or the matte you went for here. Though it'll be easy to try both and decide when I eventually get started on my Kill Teams! happy.png

Beautiful work, CaptainCaveman87! Artemis in particular came out really well, especially the face and bionics. Any plans to spruce up the basing? happy.png

Thanks! Been taking my time painting these, I've only been painting a few months but I am learning new things as i go :) Not sure on the basis yet. I picked up a set of them imperial sector (i think there called) I might try them out on.

Captain

Been busy today after finishing work and I have managed to finish off my blackshield :) Sorry for the poor edge highlighting but this was my first proper attempt at doing them but I am happy enough with the result.

Are you kidding? I think he looks fantastic! I would never have guessed that was your first run at edge highlighting! Too hard on yourself, brother! wink.png

Thanks for that. Going to try a couple of test figures before painting up the team. Will give me time to get the paints and decide on how I'm going to base them.

Legs and Torso are painted just need to do the runes on the torso tonight, then I need to pick the arms, weapons, back pack and head.  Probably won't do that for a while as I'm 2 weeks away from final exam and really need to study hopefully I won't need to buy any extra bits.

ok no pics but update. I have the  my Watch Captain, Chaplain, Librarian, Venerable dreadnought and 5 veterans built. I need to build the biker, terminator and both vanguard marines. then off to prime them

I really need to get pics of my models.....wallbash.gif

So after i got off work on Thursday September 29th, I built everything for my Vow! woot.gif and not only that i was able to prime them with my airbrush on Friday the 30th.eek.gif Vallejo primer sooooo much nicer than having to rattle can models. I need to but a pot of black and check some of my other paints to get cracking on the guys.

Here's a little WIP of my 5 men kill team squad.

Sorry for the bad quality. it was night, with my phone's camera.

Very nice. The blue is an interesting take on the Deathwatch.... as long as that isn't Tzeentch blue. ;)

Another update from me and getting very close to completing my vow smile.png
