Prot
Thanks. The method I used was : Primer, airbrush a mix of Nuln Oil and Abaddon black. Then airbrush a little mix of Ashern Grey and a dash of fenrisian to block out the large panels in grey. After that a dry / edge brush of pure Fenrisian (watered down a bit though to not be too stark of a contrast). And that's it. CaptainCaveman87
Some update on my Deathwatch Vow, really enjoying painting these guys and trying out new techniques, hope you all enjoy. Watch Captain Artemis http://i64.tinypic.com/j5cajo.jpg http://i66.tinypic.com/2ewl2j7.jpg Sorry for bad lighting but a pic of my attempt at a Xeno blade sword. http://i68.tinypic.com/208e7g7.jpg My Squad so far! I decided to go with black for the Frag Cannon as in red it looked too much like a giant nerf gun. http://i66.tinypic.com/2i7plhg.jpg All that's left is my blackshield with power fist and claw, 2 vanguard vets and my Dreadnought Thanks for looking and hope it helps motivate others. Vel'Cona
Beautiful work, CaptainCaveman87! Artemis in particular came out really well, especially the face and bionics. Any plans to spruce up the basing? Prot
Artemis looks awesome. He's also such a great sculpt. I'm working on mine as well but been so busy lately.... I need to finish him soon so I can move on, but his detail level is pretty amazing. For the black I did the following: Airbrushed base coat of Vallejo Black Primer First highlights airbrushed in Tamiya XF-63 German gray Extreme highlights airbrushed with Tamiya XF-19 Sky gray Now this leaves you with a garish looking mini. The magic is a few thin coats of Nuln Oil. I don't know how many. I stopped when I was happy with the look. Hope this helps. I'm not sure if I prefer a semi-gloss black finish or the matte you went for here. Though it'll be easy to try both and decide when I eventually get started on my Kill Teams! Probably won't do that for a while as I'm 2 weeks away from final exam and really need to study hopefully I won't need to buy any extra bits. WAR
I really need to get pics of my models..... So after i got off work on Thursday September 29th, I built everything for my Vow! and not only that i was able to prime them with my airbrush on Friday the 30th. Vallejo primer sooooo much nicer than having to rattle can models. I need to but a pot of black and check some of my other paints to get cracking on the guys.
