Nomus Sardauk
@Beren: I'm dubious of Echo's canonical status given the entire point of the story is as a nod to the then-recently replaced Stygian Jackals and how the Steel Legion replaced them. @bluntblade: I thought we were already including them as a Chapter of the Predators? Beren
Pre-Insurrection tales from the Monthly Fluff Challenge FWs = Forgeworld Style A lot of the stuff here should go in a Legion's Red Book, but I listed them here anyway for the sake of listing them somewhere in case they're not in their respective threads. believe I missed a couple of the Steel Legion and Dune Serpent's FW pieces as I made that decision after having gone through theirs. simison
Yes. What we could do is take a leaf from the Badab books and scatter stories throughout. So, my original thought was that the short stories would be included in a separate file that would be published alongside the rulebook. Which is why I wasn't sure if we had to worry about a limit per se other than trying to have a somewhat equal number of short stories per release. But that's an interesting thought, Blunt. So, I did take a look at the Badab books. The stories are presented with a very firm in-universe foundation, mainly Inquisitorial records. Given that, how would we justify these stories be included, Blunt? Because I do like the idea of seeding stories throughout the rulebooks. If we did go with this synthesis, I would, at the very least, have a story between the main chapters. Something like this for Insurrection Preface "Koloss" Age of the Emperor "Prospero" Vizenko Prosecution "A Difference of Opinion" Ally Matrix "Painful Observations" Pariah Rules [story with one of the generic units] Generic Units Though, perhaps shorter, more refined versions of those stories. simison
Remembrancer-penned recordings? I suggest leaving Prospero for people to seek out, like it's half-hidden I can agree with Prospero. What about situations where no remembrancer would be there? Also, after realizing just how thin releasing Insurrection would be without a Legion to accompany it, I have proposed (and which has been supported by several members) is that our first release date have 3 books: Insurrection, Harbingers, & Halcyon Wardens. This would allow someone with the core rulebook to immediately take advantage of the rules with two Legions in the BotL-verse. Likewise there is general support for having a Traitor and a Loyalist Legion face off against each other per release, sort of like those GW box deals they periodically release. To compensate for this heavier release, we would have only 2 release dates a year. So, it would look something like this: March 2019: Insurrection, Harbingers, Halcyon Wardens September 2019: Iron Bears, Grave Stalkers March 2020: Godslayers, Predators September 2020: Drowned, Scions Hospitalier Again, my 1-year rule would still be in effect. If we ever had enough rulebooks ready to be released for each publishing date a year out, we can do more. Also, this is not a hard schedule, just a working one. Everybody seems to be in favor of the Harbingers and Halcyon Wardens going first, but no one has made suggestions for who comes next. And we are still aiming for a Jan. release, but I'm not sure if we can get the cover art done in time. simison
We have successfully released Insurrection, Harbingers, and Halcyon Wardens. Here is the initial schedule I suggested. March (April 19) 2019: Insurrection, Harbingers, Halcyon Wardens October 2019: Iron Bears, Grave Stalkers April 2020: Godslayers, Predators October 2020: Drowned, Scions Hospitalier Now, while I still think the Grave Stalkers and Iron Bears should be next, I'm not deadset on who should be paired with the Godslayers. Doctor Perils
Do you think it may be feasible to still release them alongside the Iron Bears and Grave Stalkers, or do you think it would be too ambitious ? Alternatively, Godslayers and Predators could be released alongside some non-Astartes forces or Insurgos (in two separate releases I mean)? IIRC, we began the final proof and feedback phase in the week preceding March 1st - does that mean we should set the proof and feedback for IB and GS mid-August, or simply aim for the beginning of September? For the playtesting, could that be started essentially straight away? bluntblade
OK, I think it's time we went over these again. I think this is how it stands:Book 1 - Revelation [all complete] Preface [complete] Introduction [complete] The Madrigal Purge (Harbingers vs HW) The Kataii Ambush (IB vs GS and GS) The Perfidy of Untara (SH vs Drowned) Book 2 - Scission Preface [complete] Introduction [complete] Mars (HW, FK, Abyssii vs Cognis among others) Book 3 - Expansion Preface [TBD] Introduction: The False Empire [complete] Conquest of the Tayargund Reach (Harbingers vs FK and Shepherds of Eden) [complete] Nox [WIP] Book 4 - Subjugation Preface [TBD] Introduction [to be done] Iphigenia and Macragge [WIP] The Lion's Hunt (CL vs Geno regiments) The Agony of Chalcea (BoU) [WIP] Book 5 - Attrition Preface [TBD] Introduction: The Pieces Set [WIP] Iyacrax (IB, Halcyon Wardens(?), Predators(?) vs WB and Godslayers(?)) [WIP] Something with Blackshields and Chimarae? Retaliation Preface [TBD] Introduction [to be done] Foleith (prologue, VE) [Complete] Evacuation of Thelum (VE and WoL vs WoP) [Complete] The Eastern Fringe (DS vs SL and Drowned, followed by Predators) [WIP] Emancipation Preface [TBD] Introduction [to be done} Siege of Delos (HW vs EW) [Early WIP] Battle of Revan (SH vs WB) [Very early WIP] Fire Keepers vs Berserkers? [Hypothetical] Escalation (Or Decimation, though my vote would be Eradication or Conflagration) Preface [Complete] Introduction: The Torn Veil [to be done] Blood Crusade general (CL vs BoS and EW) [WIP] Cadia (same as above, but with IB and possibly Nightguard in supporting role - this could be misremembered on my part) [Early WIP] Secession Preface [TBD] Introduction: Turned Cloaks [to be done] First Battle of Xandria [Hypothetical] Hypothetical at this stage and no place set: Recantation Various smaller campaigns, taking in the Shepherds of Eden, Grey Wardens, Morning Stars and Hammers of Malis as well as Blackshields Edited May 30, 2019 by bluntblade ShadowSwordmaster 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325621-ref-book-outlines/page/5/#findComment-5317490 Share on other sites
