Brother Androcles
I have returned Brothers, after a long and unforeseen absence.Consider this a notice that I have use my bye for this month. I contacted The Psycho earlier today to inform him of what's been going on lately, and more importantly, of what has affected my participation in this months vow. All I can do is apologize to all of you, and vow to do better in the following months. All in the hope that I can reclaim not only my own Honour, but that of my chapter, the noble warriors of Mancora. And for Brother Augustus I give the following XI Devastator Squad Veteran sergeant - Jahan Hotar - DosjetkaVexillarius - Bellos Galiko - Aquilanus Heavy Weapon Specialist (Grav Cannon) - Cynerik Deorwin - Brother SPHeavy Weapon Specialist (Grav Cannon) - Crassu Hason - Aeternas Battle Brother - Jurgen Falku - deusmex Comms Specialist - Svadir Hark - Rangaman Vexillarius - Bransun Karlinus - lionofjudah with fluffHeavy Weapon Specialist (Grav Cannon) - Harcon Cayil - Mactire with fluffHeavy Weapon Specialist (Grav Cannon) - Bernherd Reis - A member of XI Devastator Squad, Brother Reis has no qualms with taking part in a particular, and rather peculiar form of one sided rivalry amongst the other Heavy Weapon Specialists within his squad, constantly attempting to initiate competition relating to marksmanship, or simple kill counts, amongst his squad mates. Brother Reis employs the wargear he is entrusted with to great effect, zealously eliminating enemies with extreme prejudice, and deadly accuracy. While still a young battle brother, and a prideful one at that, Reis is a jovial and well liked individual, and none can doubt his skills. His advancement to a higher position within the company may be closer at hand than would be normal for one of his age. Augustus b'Raass
Hurray! Everyone is back! And how. Brother SP, that chapter symbol looks wicked! And man did you develop those freehanding skills. Good job! Also, October, November, who can keep them apart? It's those wet, crappy months at the end of the year. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325762-a-tale-of-20-hobbyists-2016/page/17/#findComment-4546534 Share on other sites
Brother Argent
Or for us Aussies that windy somewhat muggy time of the year. And for me my wife and eldest daughters birthday are in October... Okay probably shouldn't get those two confused... SW1
SP - Sorry, there was a few pics that weren't visable when I looked at the article. That was one of them, probably a dodgy internet connection. I have a TDA pad reserved ready for me to have a go at sculpting it. ;) --------------------- Really feel like this show is just getting started and the quality of models being produced is excellent. Having this comradeship is really helping me push myself hobbywise to try new things. I've finally got hold of the collect SM's guide and how to paint SM's guide which have loads of the chapters I've already sculpted in and a fair few extra. I noticed a few of the pads I've painted have colours mixed up. So I will be going back and correcting these. Not sure what I will be painting next month. But I will be looking at completing the DW by the end of the challenge. Lol ... Guess I need to stop continuing to make as many pads or I'll never complete them. :d Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325762-a-tale-of-20-hobbyists-2016/page/17/#findComment-4546603 Share on other sites

Lord Commander Eidolon
A day away and this huge flurry of activity!! Clearly the way to encourage participation is through fining people cakes.... It's good that we've got the train back on track, we can't purge the II and XI before this little crusade has got going!! Absolutely! But as a Group we should talk about this at this point in the month, so we can reach out to try and support the others who may be flagging! So, as a group you are going to come help me paint pink marines! I think I need the help!! Hehe I think I will struggle to hit the deadline myself! I figured I should also post up my progress so far, even if I won't make it by the deadline: Love these, great work on the chipping and the gold! How did you do the gold, I'm never happy with mine!! And with fluff! That's just too awesome. I really like the fluff to boot, so yay for you. :)Sorry to hear about your RL troubles keeping you away from the event, but happy to hear of your rekindled participation. :) I'm looking forward to drooling over your Warrioirs of Mancona. Are you going to write fluff for them too - the fluff you wrote for that one devastator marine was inspired, so I hope you're into fluff writing. :tu: Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325762-a-tale-of-20-hobbyists-2016/page/17/#findComment-4546717 Share on other sites
Pyroclast91
Awesome work everyone so much kick ass modeling In this thread its crazy. The quality of work everyone is producing is amazing all of it Fluff, Conversions, and Paint! Add to that the unique community of frater at the B&C and we've got a crew here I'm extremely proud to be part of. Even in groups of people that I've met at various different gaming clubs I've gone too I've never found this kind of camaraderie and group support not to mention hobby skills. I think it's pretty safe to say RL October has been less than awesome for most if not all of us and even when one of us has fallen off instead of resulting In negativity it turned into a search and was resolved and the group was made whole again. It never ceases to amaze me how true to the concept of brotherhood this community really is which I think it's pretty rare these days and since joining the B&C is something I've found myself quite grateful for. Brother Androcles
+THERE IS A FINE LINE, BETWEEN INSPIRATION, AND MADNESS+ +PICT CAPTURE RECORDED CIRCA. 910.M41. DURING THE EVENT KNOWN AS "The reaving of the Endymion Cluster"++AT THE HEIGHT OF THE BADAB WAR+ "How many?" An innocuous a question as any, with meanings that could carry on ad infinitum. With even the slightest context though, it was a question that chilled Brother Davion to the bone, forcing him to recall what atrocity had befallen his beloved chapter so recently. The sickly green glow of the cogitator, and the tally of stricken names that ran over it's surface, men he knew, fellow warriors, brother astartes. It all left a feeling in his gut that even his normal stoicism could not shake. "Initial estimates show a 79% casualty rate amongst the companies deployed to the theatre Captain" 79%, Davion remembered that number, it would likely haunt him for the rest of his days. 79% was how many of his comrades, his brothers, would never live to fight again, to jovially share banter, to serve the emperor with great zeal. It was a number, a simple number that showed just how many of his friends and brothers would never speak another Oath in the emperor's name. The captain sighed, his heavy frame shifted and creaked as he adjusted his stance."I have heard the reports Brother, we all have, we know the numbers well, and our hearts ache to look upon them further. I have a simple question for you Brother. What was it like fighting in Badab?" Images raced through Davion's mind, coming unbidden to the forefront of his thoughts. But in a mere moment he had the Captain's answer "It was hell. Badab was hell" I'm a little afraid that what I'm about to do may be a bit absolutely mental, but my classes for the day have been cancelled, effectively giving me a long weekend with very little to do for the first time in damn near a month now. But I've honestly been inspired looking through this thread, and seeing the amazing work that has been produced by the members of this forum. Augustus in particular, with your creative idea to have members of the challenge name members of your squads has been a serious inspiration (Hope you don't mind if I nick that ) So without Further adieu, onto the insanity I Brother Androcles pledge the following vow, with only 3 days left in the month of October in hope of restoring the Honour of the Howling Griffons chapter to it's former glory Captain Duran Vargas (150 points) Captain, Artificer Armour, Power fist, Power swordTactical Squad (Currently unnamed) (165 points) x9 Space Marines Flamer Heavy Bolter Combi Melta on Sergeant http://i.imgur.com/R6VxSnr.jpg I've already named the Captain of course, but every other squad I post is free game to other participants of the challenge, I just ask that if you do decide to name a marine or two, that it only be one per vow that I make. lionofjudah
Whoa karuma!! That backpack is gorgeous!!! So my first posting contains my army list and I'm really over trying to do everything via my phone as its more of a mini computer than a phone and less of a computer than my Tandy 1000 was;) Army focus is still at the Siege of Terra combining tactical and terminator units of the glorious yellow 'Iron Fists' of the VIIth, assault units with Jump praetor of the 186th airborne Angelis Veneratum and a hunting pack of Scars on penis bikes. There are 2 (so far unnamed) knights and the War-hound, Torva Messor (grim reaper) of the Fire Wasps. SW1
So these pads have been added to the list: Just ignore the bodies they're attached to as I just stuck them to the first bodies I had to hand. The biggest challenge up to now has been the Lamentors pad. I could quite happily never paint another one of those pads again!!! ;) :d Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/325762-a-tale-of-20-hobbyists-2016/page/17/#findComment-4547823 Share on other sites
