I support the Silver Scorpions (though I hope I'm not hurting my chances by doing so http://image.bolterandchainsword.com//public/style_emoticons/default/mellow.png )

It's your call, I will not hold it against you for being a patron or not. It's why I specifically require patrons from both sides of the divide.

San needs one more patron from a candidate.

1. I think I'm in favor of scrapping the advantages

2. Sure, having a reserve sounds like a good plan

3. Perhaps another thread; start it off with a synopsis of each legion so everything is laid out and organized in a way people can see?

I concur with Drak on this one chief.

+1

I skimmed some of the last posts so I may have missed what you said about this, but I'd also support sanguinius's and meros's candidacies

Alsø alsø wik: I may regret this, but if it is well understood that I'm not great at writing, or sticking to a single project for long, and that I may therefore need quite a bit of help, I'm prepared to throw my hat back into the ring (or whatever the expression is that I'm looking for). You guys are bad people (also, I have next to no willpower :P)

The silver scorpions look like a cool idea: indeed, I haven't seen any "mind enhancement legions" before.

I had thought a bit about a cowboy legion too, but I have to be honest, I didn't get very far into the concept without hitting a block. I'd really like to see what you can do with it meros - if though it turns out that you don't find it easy to do one, and that the star lords get voted in, I think your ideas would still find a place as the American rev... er I mean the traitor star lords.

If I didn't say so before, I agree with Drak that we should scrap the weighting. May the best and most well thought-out idea win.

One thought on the Silver Scorpions; would it make sense for them to align with the Suzerainty over Icarion? I just wonder if Kozja and the Jade General's focus on the biological might set them at odds with one another. Also, I just like the possibilities it opens up for Chaotic corruption.

I'll vote for Thorn.

And as for the question, I'd have to look at the legions again but I can separate them into Xizz's brothers, allies, opposers and enemies right now.

Brothers

Crimson Lions (Similar combat styles, also distrusted)

Iron Bears (Never thought he was distasteful)

Fire Keepers (Synergy in doctrines, is very truthful)

Allies

Wardens of Light (Didn't do anything in particular, though the pariah thing is a mark against them, too much like Godslayers)

Pre-Insurrection Eagle Warriors (Tried to get in his good books, didn't go well because Xizz was suspicious.)

Opposers

Void Eagles (They don't get down and dirty)

Halcyon Wardens (Too high and mighty)

Pre-Insurrection

Enemies

Berserkers (Gives the legion a bad name)

Godslayers (They acted like they were so perfect, then later they did what they did...)

Warbringers (Did not attempt to prove their claims of perfection at all)

Post-Insurrection Eagle Warriors (A waste of good men)

Since everyone is doing summaries, hopefully I wasn't too late. Got caught up with work and wasn't able to pop back in to the forums when the site was down >_<

Had to revise it a wee bit, as per discussions had before.

So all in all:

The Devoured

Primarch: Severyth Cain - The Silent Whisper, Sire of The Devoured, Scarlet Eye, The Devoured

Cognomen (Prior): The Primal Hunters

Strategic Tendacies: Guerilla and Urban Warfare, Independent Arms and Deployment, Subterfuge and Intel Gathering

Culture:

  • Pre-Insurrection: Warriors trained in personal inter-Legion contests of strength and skill. "Survival of the Fittest" mentality with a focus on melee engagements. Thai influences. Uses pack beasts to grow their ranks.
  • Post Insurrection: Bio-engineering and enhancements driven by evolution, the Primarch's vision to be a greater being of unspeakable potential. A drive none of them can deny.

Allegiance: Traitor, but some ulterior motive lies behind the stalwart silence of it's members...

>ORIGIN

Raised in a far flung corner of the galaxy, his name bears no great accomplishment with it. No liberated state from oppression, no greater evil vanquished and usurped. Just him. A lone sentinel of this world.

It was an unusual sight. A young man in feral garb, with long dishevelled hair, clear ruby-like eyes, but with a body sculpted and toned that it was no doubt the son of the Emperor. He seemed regal in all sense of the word, as he carried himself with great poise, yet his body tightened and cautious towards this sudden visitor.

Almost in a gesture of welcome.

There was no doubt that this is His son. One of his lost heirs thrown across the expanse of the void. Yet, at the back of His mind-

-He was unsure. A loom, or perhaps a shade hangs behind his son. An illusion brought forth by some uncertainty.

Yet-

The love for his son outweighed any worry he had in mind.

Severyth Cain.

A name so incredibly foreign, yet the Emperor explains it was his name. Something he never had nor needed before.

A young man, quick to grow and adapt in his isolation, learned to fend for himself by an unnatural instinct to do so. But, at this moment, he stood there in awkward plate and makeshift garb, he felt naked under the pressure of his so called "brothers". He felt them as beasts of varying degree, all hungry for something.

Yet he stood tall, eyeing them all, as he had confronted many of the beasts of his home planet. He introduced himself, and told his story.

Rough and uncertain, the words flowed mechanically from him, still new to this way of communication. The lessons he learned were rushed and to the point, yet it brought him some sense of pride - a feeling of even footing with his brothers.

Many of his brothers took it to make him a feral cub, spinning great tales to impress his "older" siblings. Their eyes lie doubt, that this "brother" of theirs is one of them. Yet he gave a quiet smile and level-headed acceptance of this mockery, that this betrayed his brothers impressions of him being a wild animal from a backwoods planet.

...and betrayal of first impressions he did often. His clean porcelain like features framing his ruby-red eyes, and locks of black dishevelled hair contrasting the clean shape of his god-like aura. Truly, a son of the Emperor. This innate beauty oxymoron to his efficient brutality in combat, a string of dead enemies trailing the wake of his crusades across the galaxy.Their blood dripping from his face, making it more beautiful.

His Legion, The Devoured, holding the same doctrine of warfare true. Silent and efficient, they became the very epitome of the art of slaughter. Be it a single target or a whole battalion. They waste nothing in the pursuance of the mission.

His confidence grew with time, his relationships dipped and grew with his brothers. Be it civil or brotherly, or chaotic and toxic. He enjoyed the rush of all these new emotions and experiences. His world grew larger every passing moment...and a voice egged him on to go beyond what he could see and feel.

His smile comforting to his sons, yet radiant enough to hide the pain he feels continuously, as he served as the vanguard of mankind's expansion. His silent gaze, grew wider as his legion grew...

The pain was a start of change...

-A change to Cain,

-a change to his sons,

-and a change that fractures the very definition of Father, brother and a son.

>RELATIONSHIPS

Emperor to Cain: The Emperor trusts his son greatly in the face of any tasks placed upon him. His serious and quiet nature reflects a sense of boundless responsibility, and obligation for a mission's completion. He sees himself one of the Emperor's tools to grow mankind's future to the stars, and he does not mind this, as he finds great pride and joy to be of some help to the person that grew his perception beyond the solitary darkness of his former home.

Cain to his Sons: At first, his relationship with his sons were a shaky one. One of mistrust, and of slight grievances. The Legionaries of The Primal Hunters harboured unbiased expectations of their Father. Yet confronted with this animal from the deepest reached of the galaxy, cautious about his surroundings, and wary of almost everything, they could not help this was a humorous prank to reward them of their servitude for the Empire.

Yet with these expectations, the gift of being the Emperor's son shines though Cain's brilliant mind. In short time, he has restructured his Legion to befit his way of warfare. Simple and efficient, he has made his Legion a valuable asset in any battlefield, regardless of the limited areas of operation that they maneuver in. Doubt turned to reverence, which turned into shame. Shame that they ever doubted their gene-father.

Shame that fuelled their drive not to tarnish the new name they have been given. "The Devoured". To swallow ones pride for the good of the whole, to have the strength to use oneself as feed to grow the Legion, and to devour their enemies mercilessly, for the Empires judgement is fierce like an animal.

The Devoured to their brothers: The Devoured would develop some fairly close ties with some of their brothers, as their missions usually has them deployed under the wing of another Legion. Their battle doctrine values independent action and a great sense of one-mindedness of a mission's completion, so they're usually viewed as valuable allies and reliable comrades at most times. Some even view them as rivals when a mission requires some form of overlap.

Competition which The Devoured values greatly within their strictly practised warrior culture.

As human nature is, resentment does form within the legion itself, as vies for leadership in the myriad of squads within the Legion change hands quickly and abruptly, and power struggles in these scenarios are always spectated by their Primarch. But pride for oneself is one thing, a sense of selfless sacrifice for the good of mankind is another. Something The Devoured" never fails to ever forget.

Cain to his Brother Primarchs (Incredibly preliminary): Cain has varying degrees of camaraderie with his brothers. Being of the younger half, he has great respect for them as warriors and as fellow Primarchs. One that some of them do not reciprocate in kind. His relationship is tense with Raktra, as his views of great cruelty as some form of entertainment disgust him to no end. A sentiment Raktra shares against him, calling Cain a hypocrite and naive of his view as he himself is a warrior that enjoys murder sport.

Inversely his relationship with Andezo is one of close agreements. The nature of being hunters to some degree and their similar silent demeanor had them gravitate to one another greatly. The use of pack animals by Cain's Legion was well supported by Andezo's knowledge in this field, and their interests within help grow their research to new heights.

Pionus on the other hand is one of respect for one another and of the other's space. Though Pionus' curiosity at The Devoured's oddly pure gene-seed, in comparison to their Primarch's feral nature, is a bit underving on Cain's part. As the very nature of their medicine is incredibly foreign to him.

(Will be updating this post once I get a grip on some of the other Primarchs..I'll update this as much as I can, but do note I'll be travelling around the Philippines for this coming week)
