@Bjorn : Thanks !

@Chaplain Dosjetka : Cheers chaplain ! Glade you enjoy the thread :)

@Kraut : Haha ! Too bad for the feathers not being to your liking mate, but I understand, we can't discuss a man colors tasts :)

Glade you like the rest of the model ! For the skin tone I've work it differently than usual with red and purpul glaze instead of ice blue. It help the face popping out in the cold tones of the all model :).

(I get some really good advices from Morbäck of the "Blog dé kouzes" to help me finished this one. Particulary concerning the feathers and the face)

I think the feathers bother me not so much beause of their colours, but because of the way you painted them: a drybrush of lighter colour over a darker background. This gives the impression that they somehow 'glow'. They do not look like feathers because of this, as they're coloured in a way that doesn't reflect how feathers are coloured in nature. If you google 'feather' and look at the images, you'll see that the individual 'hairs' on feathers have one colour, regardless of the species. I think you could remedy this by using dark colours on the stem (bottom) of the feathers, and the lighter on the edges, top, or another combination of layers from bottom to top instead of from the inner hair to the outer hair...

I would say it's edge highlightes instead of a drybrush, but yeah. Guess feathers are one of these things where, if you want a realistic feel, you have to ignore the "classic" style of GW painting - as in, they wouldn't reflect light like for example power armour.

Anyways, like both the Praetor and Russ - especially the warpaint on the laters face!

Hi everybody and thank you all for the taking the time to comment and reply !! :smile.:

@Augustus : Ok now I see what you mean by the way I paint the feathers.

Like Atia nicely said it their is no drybrush here but an unadapted (but long and painfull) highlight. I see that I'll have to tone it down and make some reasearch on how I could paint those in a more realistic way. For now this is quite difficult for me to retouch it beacause even if I agree that it may look a bit off, I hade a great time painting those and really like the color (in a purely aesthetic and unobjective point of vue :tongue.:)..

I think of painting some lizardmen of the Old world maybe this is the best way to try to improve my skill befor comming back on Rangaru ^^ Just to be sure that I'll ending with something better instead of something worse ^^.

@Atia :Thanks a lot for passing by ; )  . Cool that you like Rangaru and my War-painted Russ ! You were right about the highlight on the feather as in me behing stucked in the GW painting style. I'll have to do something about that ^^

@Hushrong : Thanks man ! :smile.:

@The_Stray_Idea : Cheers ! It's been a long time since I wanted to make this bridge and I'm glade it turn out this way : )

@Nemac : Thanks a lot bro ! Really happy that Forge world and so many poeple get on board with my particular vision of Russ :smile.: !

@ Xin Ceithan : Haha ! With all those Death guard thread all around that's nice of you to be precise :tongue.: Anyway Thanks Xin !

@Sockwithaticket : Thanks ! Like I was saying above I'll get back to those feathers after some try on other model to get something more realistic :smile.:

For the skin tone I usualy use blue and purple tones (I've even started painting him that way as you can see on the WIPs) but I was well advised by a way better painter than me to use a warmer tone witch would be better with all the cold colors I used on the armor :smile.: . So I've try working with Reds and that turn out mutch better than what I was expecting ! (thanks to him !)

@Firepower : Cheers ! Cool that you like my stuff !

Malchy !

Thanks Wicced ! :wink:

Yep exactly ! The blade came from the limited praetor kit for the rest I use a terminator weapon ( Chainaxe or hammer I don't remember the one :/)

Here is some news brothers and sisters !

Time to share with you a little project on witch I was secretly working alongside Russ.

The keywords were : Harder, Better, Faster and Stronger for this second Carcharodon diorama. Hope I'll achiev that.

(I think that Kraut will apreciat the free shark violence in that post :wink: )

 Let me know what you think !! :smile.:

Malchy

Super happy bthat you're back to the space sharks for sure! The dynamic pose of that contemptor is looking fantastic!

One gripe though: I think the leviathan weapons are a bit too big for the contemptor frame. It looks a bit off to me - but it might be the angle.
