Oh, that looks...

promising !!! :happy.:

You are really into those shark-guys, it seems. ^^ Is Red Tithe a good read? I read the first few pages on my local bookshop and instantly liked this unfortunate imprisoned psyker, who they are going to fight about. :)

Thanks a lot everyone !! Glade to see so many poeple hyped by this project ! ^^

(sorry for the lack of updates on this but I'm curently working a lot and blessed by Nurgle in the same time :unsure.:. The main finish line that I've fixed for myself is to get the diorama done for around my birthday : 2 March. Hope I'll manage to do that )

@The Observer : Thanks brother !

@Bjorn : Cool that you like it ! Their is still a lot of work but I really enjoy painting another one of those contemptor beasts !

@Duskraider : Cheers mate :wink:

@Hungry Nostraman Lizard : Thanks ! I can't wait to read it too ^^

@The_Stray_Idea : Thanks you ! I'll try to post some updates in the following day  :wink:

@Azaiel : Thanks ! The main thing I have in mind when I put together my shark model is that they must give a Brutality feeling, Glade to see that it work ; )

 Really digging this book too :wub:

@Hushrong : Cheers budy ! I like to think so too ^^ but I've try to even the odds a little when I chose the cultist equipement .. Maybe one will get lucky ? We'll maybe see that in the book ; )

@Wicced : Cheers ! As for the exclusive legion preator I was thinking like you but I manage to do something with the rest of it ( look at my carcharodon Master of the forge on those pages what do you think of it ?)

@RobMac : Thanks hight remembrancer ! That's quite a praise comming from you ! I hope the finish Diorama will make honor to the book ! : )

@Augustus : Thanks Aug' ! I'm glade to go back to my sharks too :smile.: I'll try to improve the new models I'll add to this army with what I've learned painting my last Models :smile.:

For the leviathan claw you're totaly right ! It's even more visible because I doesn't have leviathan drills so I used centurion one for the second fist and that make it little in comparison. I've work with that problem in mind when I make the pose. That's why I put the claw in the back and open it so that it does not look too long. I could have wait and buy a leviathan drill or an MkIV dread claw to make it even.. But after thinking about it Carcharodons contemptor are relics of old age in a chapter that are really good at reapearing stuff with a lot of salvaged materials. I used that part of the background in a lot of my creation and I think that it add a lot to their character. The big claw give a sens of "overkill brutality" that make sens in the carcharodon case (just like "Look at this big hand ! You're gonna take it in the face right now !" ).

That being said I'll try to put the dread in a running position, leaning forward so that the claw size won't be to obvious. I'll see it finished and at this time if the claw is that mutch of a problem i'll remove it and try to grab some bitz to do something better :smile.:

@Brother Pheidias : Thanks ; )

@Kraut : Thanks Kraut !! Haha When I took this bitz from my box I was like : "This will please the sons of Angron" ^^

@Kynos : Thanks Lord.V :wink: For Red tithe it is indeed a really good read ! You should take one as soon as you can ;p

What to say..... I simply love your work.

The Dread...the Praetor. They are already part of my headcanon of the Carcharodons. Go and add more to it. :P

Love everything on this thread. Gah you make me want to start a sharks army. But I've already got too much going on with my death guard, and now, custodes, I guess. But I did build that jump pack chaplain, and I still have that unassembled sicaran...

Stop making such masterpieces, you're gonna inspire me into another project.

@ Kelborn: Hahaha this meme killed me ! ^^ Thanks mate !

@TURBULENCE: Best compliment to know that my sharks inspired you to become part of the void brotherhood ;)

Leave the "everybody love Custodes" vibes and come on in.. We have cookies !!

And as promised here is some news on the diorama with the contemptor more than nearly finished (some details on the back remains) and a nearly finished wip of the first cultist to face the contemptor :

This is it for now ! The next cultist is on the way :) It's a real pleasur to peint those creepy fellaz !

Let me know what you think ;)

Malchy

Knowing me I'll just try to juggle all three projects... Somehow.

That contemptor gets better every time I see it. I love how much character you've managed to imbue onto it. Also, nice touch with the veins on that cultist's head.

That contemptor has come together brilliantly. I’m looking forward to how the height of it will look on the diorama. The cultists purple hue in the skin is a great addition. Shame he probably won’t be long for the world given the reputation of the chapter your portraying.

The quasi-finished Dreadnought is still looking absolutely fabulous! Fantastic work!

I really like the colour tone on the cultist, but I would argue that there's a bit too much going on colour-wise with the overall model. To elaborate, you have purple, bright yellow, bright blue, turquoise, bright red and a slightly more subdued red on there, which I think is a bit of overkill. Personally speaking, I's get rid of the blue trousers and either paint them in a neutral tone (dark grey, for instance) or in the same red colour you used for the cloth. I also can't help feeling he might look better with slightly darker armour.

Keep up the amazing work! :)

  • 1 month later...

Hi everybody ! I can finaly brake my vow of silence and get back to the hobby with you : ).. I appologies for the late answers to all of you. Those last few weeks have been a tough period in my personal life and I was not in the mood for taking back my hobby projects or painting at all. But thanks to my budy of the Bald Army I'am back at it ; ) I find the courage to finish my second Carcharodons diorama for the soon coming Outer Dark novel by Robbie MacNiven !

Great sense of motion in the contemptor's pose.

Thanks ! In my first diorama my sharks was looking on the defensive here I wanted them to be more agressive

I'm still not liking the exclusive praetor, but I gotta admit, his incarnation as your forge lord looks very good and the squat and blocky form of the miniature fits him really well :tu:

Cheers man !

Paint jobs look awesome!

Thanks Hushrong , I've tryed to improve my grey on this contemptor ; )

Carcharodons vs. Genestealers/Tyranids? Or vs. Chaos cultists and their masters in the Iron Warriors Legion?

This is Carcharodons against Tyranids/Genestealers

Knowing me I'll just try to juggle all three projects... Somehow.

Thanks ! Glade you like this little detail that's some of the things I like the most on those cultist :)

Haha thank you Stray ! I have to admit that I am for the Carcharodons to win this fight but we will have to read the book for that ^^. In the diorama I like to think that I've even the odds a bit with the cultist equipement... or not ^^

How exactly did you that bent icon with the teeth on the contemptor (on the right shoulder)? :o

I feel bad for the Cultist, btw... :D

Hey Kyknos ; ) ! For the icon it's a part of an armoured arms of a skaven Stormfiend. I've used lizardmen weapon fangs to make the maw. I feel bad too ^^

Thanks a lot for the feedback Kraut ! I'm happy you like the contemptor ! For the cultist I agree with you that in that state it give à real impression of "over colored" but I had to face two main issues : first I wanted to stay close to the subject "Outer Dark" and the novel already have a cover witch show the cultist colors (grey white Armour with red and purpul/blue cloths). Then I had to give some colors to the cultist to make them pop out of the base witch is grey and a yellowish dust. It was already à challenge to make the dread pop out with the Grey white and black. If I have use the same colors for the cultists I couldnt have creat a straight diference between the "two team" fighting on the scene if you get me ^^. Hope the final stage will confort you with the choice of colors I made : )

That Contemptor is fantastic!

Cheers Markus ;)

And now here is the finished things :

As always let me know what you think :)

Malchy

The diorama looks intense. Hope the Contemptor will remain functional a moment longer, enough to kill all enemies on the diorama and earn some well-deserved sleep, or an honorable death in battle against enemies of the Imperium.

Nice work, those Genestealer cultists are about to ride the pain train.

And what a short ride that will be.
Genestealer (as the Carcharodons Dreadnought slams him against the ground): "I'm sorry I let this xeno taint turn me away from the Emperor's light! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!"

Tyranid Hive Mind (sensing the Genestealers' PAIN, making it recoil in fear and retreat from Imperial space): "Ow! I'm sorry, but- Ow! I do not want to consume something with the potential to cause so terrible a case of indigestion. Ow!"

Nah. Just needs some tartar sauce, and maybe a bit of lemon.

These models are just wonderful.

Haha ! Thanks a lot to all of you, I just laugh.. Big time ^^

Really glade that the main feelings I wanted out of this scene is easy to get for you.

1) The deaspear of the cultist in front of a behemot of imperial might.

2) I wanted that by looking at the diorama you can't tell who is the real bad guy

3) but not the last :

And dentures, and novocaine. I expect a Carcharodon will not go smoothly down a Tyranid's throat, but will dig in (causing choking) to arrest his movement down the xeno throat, before trying to punch and blast his way through the entrance.

The Hive Mind better start evolving some dentist forms.
