feuer_faust
EDIT: Edited for phone grammar and ginormous pictures. Howdy, while painting my test "Smik" for my Sunbros, I realized I am not sure what to do for the bases. Thinking a dark brown with tan or bone highlights to contrast and ground their gold primary color. Thoughts?
Nomus Sardauk
If only I could be so grossly incandescent...
MikhalLeNoir
Wanna become a follow up irder of my Wardens of Light in the Brotherhood of the Lost - Universe? Somehow I find them veeeeeeeeery fitting. And good the color scheme looks good. Go for the dark base. I used dark brown plus snow to contrast my golden marines. Will you always use thst metal base? A dark steel comored base could be qorking here to but would raise the amount of shiny a bit^^ Praise the sun

feuer_faust
EDIT: Edited for massive images. So here's the base: decided to do dark brown, stippled orange for rust, a black wash, then tried a metal drybrush which looked sloppy so i replaced it with a careful black-and-silver stipple. Need to clean up the black rim once everything is dry and I can seal.

That Guy Matt
Good start. Nice gold. What have you got planned for the army as a whole?
feuer_faust
Good start. Nice gold. What have you got planned for the army as a whole? Thank you, the gold is Tamiya TS-21 Gold Spray for plastics, with some Auric Armor Gold (I think) for highlights, and some flesh wash for shading. As for the army, I am not sure 100% composition-wise except that I intend to be on the shooty, armored side with some dedicated assault units for priority targets (just made a ten-man vanguard squad for just such a thing). Color-wise, more of the same. I thought about painting sergeants and heroes differently somehow, but I might just leave that up to the bitz I use. feuer_faust
Today I added a Librarian to my army. I also have a captain and a unit of vanguard (nothing special, I'll do pics of them later). He is converted out of the Betrayal at Calth chaplain. Did a smooth shoulder pad plus some cables from a spare lightning claw for the hood, and some chopping for the force weapon. This is still in the rough stages: he has yet to be cleaned up and smoothed out.
That Guy Matt
He looks pretty cool. What did you use for the sword hilt?
Honda
Um...I think I'm going to borrow this idea...for a friend. I like what you did with the crozius and the head swap is excellent looking. I won't make mine my friends, a witch though. Play on!
feuer_faust
Thanks, the sword is just the Betrayal at Calth crozius with a power sword cut down to fit in the gap.
