good work going on here. since its the season to be jolly and heretical, i'm struggling to stay sober enough to put in the painting time. *hic*

I, Brother Captain Ed, before Guilliman, my Father, before the Immortal Emperor, my God, and before you, my brothers assembled, declare my vow complete and add this unnamed brother Librarian to the ranks of the 2nd Company of Ultramarines.

That said...I'm not sure I actually *improved* the model with this paint job, but I am very rusty.  Alas.

Courage and honor!

I approve of everything so far. Tranc and richmarine especially have some nice stuff going on.

I'm actually going to be able to start mine today, finally caught up with work until the New Year so I can get some painting time in. Time to give you all some (light hearted) competition msn-wink.gif.

Progress for the progress god!

had to wait a few days for the varnish to dry to apply decals. I've added a base with some texture. Also nearly finished my previous vow which you can see on my 30k Ultramarines blog.

Unpainted is heresy.

Finished. Just added a bit of marbling on the base and attached the head.

If this is Ventanus, then hes seen better days.

In any case i'm using him as a banner bearer for my suzerain command squad.

Just finished a few paint chips to complete my vow. Took a little longer than I expected due to other commitments. Photography is a bit weak but I don't have the time or space right now to do better. I decided to add some check patterns to these guys to add to the 2nd edition feel I wanted but mainly just to break up all the blue. Don't get me wrong, they're nice models, but they really are quite plain compared to the space marine standard (and especially cataphractii which are over 90% rivet).

RR2016 1 Complete

RR2016 1 Volkite

RR2016 1 Checker

I am loving those checks. I am sooooooo stealing this idea for the next set of Terminators I paint up. biggrin.png

I'm glad you like it and I want to see it when you do :). I do have a dark secret though... They're decals. tongue.png From the old old devastator box. I would recommend getting some decals elsewhere though because it turns out ~20 year old decals are really fragile once wet. I'm still trying to decide whether to go all in and start painting coloured checks, flames and such for the full 2nd ed look. I do love the ones on Tale of Painters. Not sure I can bring myself to do yellow flamers though.

Nice progress by everyone here. I however have not made any progress since my last post as work has took over because of christmas this week. I do however have the resin parts of the 6 outriders soaking in a bath and will get time to start on them tomorrow. With all that said, have a merry christmas to you all.

I, Khornehunter57x, accept my role in this.
I promise to take these ten Assault Marines and paint them in the colors of war, no matter the ferocity of my procrastination.
I swear to take better photos upon completion, no later than December 31, and post them in this thread.
I pledge to do honor to the XIII Legion and the Emperor.

On this matter, and by my paintbrush, this I vow.

I'm going to pledge this last remaining chaplain from my current built collection. its going to be a quick as i can job so i can start fresh on my new stuff in the new year. Anyone get any cool stuff for their ultras for emperor day?

Vow completed, despite some mishaps...

I was painting on the finish touches with my toddler standing by my side. For reasons only fathomable to a 2-year old, she was merrily slapping my thigh to the tune of "Jingle Bells" when she missed, and snagged my arm instead. I screamed her name in despair as the miniature went sailing through the air. 3 minutes later, I'm still on the floor looking for a missing head and arm...

This is an alternate heavy weapon for my 2nd Tactical Squad (Squad Manorian).

Just for fun, here are my other missile launcher marines (not part of the vow):

As a parting shot of 2016 i took a pic of the ultras I've painted this year, including the failed vow from a couple of months back, which i'm still working on. Its table top standard, but i need to  weather the tanks.

Cheers for all the support and have a happy new year.

I'm afraid I have been riddled with a thrice cursed episode of flu for the past week and a bit so have been too bed ridden to paint anything, THIRD TIME WILL BE LUCKY!!!!.... (Probably because i've run out of anything to paint.... )

I'll try and drag myself out of bed and take some photos of the stuff i did complete

Kenny

Unfortunately I won't be able to complete my vow. I don't like making excuses but this was a rough month, I got sick for two weeks, I had family over for Christmas, and there hasn't been any decent priming weather when I would have been able to actually go and prime and on top of all that I am a pretty slow painter to begin with. sad.png
