Kraad Belak
"We forged an empire, as brothers in arms. Driving out into the abyss to absorb the bastard wretches of His once great people. With every new world, with every new conquest, another slow step towards our eventual destruction. Oh how we ran." - Attributed to Niall Hurr, Astartes of the Sons of The First World marauder band and former sergeant of The Emperors Children legion. So I went and threw away my whole mindset of focusing on one army at a time and got myself bitten by the 30k bug. My first genius (pronounced super moronic) idea was to purchase that beautiful Ultramarines Legion Herald. Now I have spent some time staring into my bits boxes before, but this was one of my longer sessions. The hardest thing for me was to try and figure out which legion I was going to go with, loyalist or traitor, Horus or Big Daddy E? I said bugger it and decided to do them all. Blackshields, Shattered Legions, betrayed sons and vengeful brothers in a galaxy of destruction and death. I love the idea of these ragtag bands of mixed marines, each with different ideals and fighting styles, their very concepts so different that they shouldn't be able to work together at all. But cause their brothers all decided to go to war with each other, a dominant personality takes control, either through charisma, intimidation, or a mix of both. My lads are the Sons of The First World, a band of Terran born marines of many legions, drawn together under the leadership of a handful of former officers. Raiding their way across battlefields and wrecked starships, making their way back to Terra and their Emperor. With a rather negative view towards non Terrans, as they see all of their current issues the fault of those from other worlds. This sort of xenophobia is common in the modern Astartes, but those of the 30th millennium are a nobler and more outward looking kind. Not 100% where I'm going with it, as even the most insular of Astartes would still see the virtue of allowing "foreigners" into their force. Maybe a suicide mission or two and let the survivors hang round a little longer? Haha, I'll have to think about that one. But back to that Herald. Carving off the outwardly Ultramarine style iconography, he has a head. Looks like my mind decided he's a Death Guard. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842269_mb-.JPG A little bit of digging, a few messages and a helpful friend, I have myself a fellow with a full set of gear. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842270_mb-.JPGhttp://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842271_mb-.JPGhttp://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842272_mb-.JPG Hell, I even got a little paint on him. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842275_mb-.JPGhttp://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842279_mb-.JPGhttp://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842278_mb-.JPG DUSK RAIDER AHOY! Feeling like I was on a bit of a roll, I even made him a few mates. My favourite part here being that, since I am doing Blackshields, I get to make any damn legion I want! ... So I did. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842288_mb-.JPG My favourite so far. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842285_mb-.JPG Genius idea number 2 (still pronounced super moronic) convert a mkiii shoulder pad to have Space Wolf iconography. Only took carving up 2 shoulderpads and my left thumb, but it works. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842281_mb-.JPGhttp://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842282_mb-.JPG My first heavy weapon. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842283_mb-.JPG Picked up some Kakaphoni in a trade and couldn't help myself. Though they're a bit taller than regular marines. http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842286_mb-.JPGhttp://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2016/12/4/842287_mb-.JPG That's me for the night all, I'll have a few more fellows knocked together, a bit more background on The Sons and maybe even a bit of paint. Until next time, stay out of trouble. Kraad. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328440-sons-of-the-first-world-bastard-sons-of-terra/ Share on other sites
Mister Feral
I'm not a 30k fan myself, but I like where this is going! Guy with the chest ammo belt is my favourite too.
