Vazzy
PART 1: Riders on the Storm "Eyes on riders in black! They just came out of the dark! Engaging!" -Last vox transmission of Ratja convoy run 5:16 AM Naiggolan Heights Ratja Convoy run Private Zamanski hadn't had a particularly stunning morning, having been rudely awoken to drive ammo to the front, during one of the worst storms in history. Rain lashed the windscreen, and the beleaguered blades simply couldn't keep up, forcing the seventeen year old to drive the vehicle far slower than normal. Lightning split the sky open, thunder crackling across the heavens, and Zamanski winced. Rumor had it the First had made planetfall earlier yesterday, but so far, no unit had reported any contact, and energy readings showed no signs of enemy forces. As lightning again lit up the sky, Zamanski's stomach dropped out from under him. In the flash of light, he saw ten shapes: Astartes bikers, clad in black plate, with a red blade on one shoulder. They zipped by the convoy, and time seemed to slow. One of the warriors peeled off, heading directly for Zamanski's truck, his black armor glistening in the rain. Above him, his gunner began to fire, but the las bursts were wild and uncontrolled, kicking up dirt to the Dark Angel's left. Red lenses seemed to bore into his skull, and Zamanski died in a flash of blue plasma, the cab blowing out and steaming as the cool rain hammered into the burning convoy. With a throaty roar, the warriors rode off, leaving only burned vehicles and charred corpses to show they'd been there at all. Vazzy
Part 2:Whispers in the Dark “War is like a fire. One man may start it, but it will spread all over. It is not about one thing in particular.” -Tee Aitch Wite, Prophecy of the Once and Future King 5:43 Am Naiggolan Heights Outpost Radtja Shem'ba Da often wondered what he'd done to deserve the cruel vagaries of fate that seemed to seek him out. The Night Lord, whose nickname was 'Unlucky', found himself patrolling the outer reaches of the Outpost, the generator that powered one of the titanic void shields that covered Naiggolan Prime. While many of the mortals around him wore optics to aid their weak eyes, Shem'ba had no need of such instruments. Between his augmented sight and the Mk IV helm he wore on his head, the stormy night was as clear as day to him. The outpost had been on high alert since the garbled radio transmission warning of riders in black had cut off without warning, and the half company of Night Lords were ready for the Dark Angels assault. So, when the first bolt shells shattered the helm of one of his companions, Shem'ba Da was more than ready, his bolt pistol hammering a line of shells into the warrior, knocking him to the ground. The Night Lord fired again, and the Angel's helm erupted in a spray of ceramite and brains, painting the area around him. Da tried to call into report the kill, but winced as a burst of white noise shrieked over the vox, before morphing into low whispers, whose words were inaudible, even to his enhanced hearing. He moved past the body, and saw in a flash of lightning, another warrior of his legion, a winged crest above his head, and two blades held in his hands. At his feet, in a growing pool of blood, was another space marine, terror markings apparent on the armor. Da paused as he reached out, realizing that the body on the ground was a Night Lord, and his auspex quietly pinged, *Threat Detected.* His hand scrabbled for the chain glaive slung across his back, desperately trying to block the flanged blade that plunged towards him. He failed, and doubled over as the Angels blade punched clean through his ribcage, the bone plate cracking audibly. He felt his blood pouring from the wound as the Dark Angel stepped away, the heavy rain washing away the stains on the blade. As Shem'ba Da lay dying, the vox finally began to make sense, and he realized the whispers were four words: Never Forgive, Never Forget. Knight Brother Galtiel walked away from the dying Night Lord, marking it as his fifth one in the ten minutes since the attack began. He hoped one would prove a challenge at some point. It had been too long since he'd actually felt respect for an opponent. Vazzy
Obviously, this is the start of my 30k Dark Angels. Vazzy
PART 3: In Ashen Clad "Clad thine self in the bones of your enemy, and take the war to him. In His Home, His Heart, His mind. Break Him, utterly and completely" -2:32 "The Rite of the Ashen" [Pict Capture of Knight Brother Torren, Razing of Naiggolan] Terminator Squad Aleksandros, or 'The Ashen' as they came to be known, were a specialist detachment that drew members from the Deathwing. Armed exclusively with lightning claws and volkite chargers, 'The Ashen' were used almost solely as shock troops, leading the vanguard during close range fighting, their weapons more than suited for the close combat they often found themselves in. The use of Volkites, whose damage often led to a fine powder of ash covering the user, led to the nickname, during the Saturnyne Compliance, showing how far back the unit's history goes. Members of the Ashen often have certain pieces of plate marked with a bone strip, signifying their membership, and the brotherhood they shared. A rather maudlin group of warriors, black humor is especially common during engagements, leading to reprimands on more than one occasions. Despite this, 'The Ashen's' deployment alongside the 65th Company would be much appreciated. Vazzy
PART 4: The Death of Innocence "Where is the Horse and the Rider? Where is the Horn that was blowing? How did it come to this?" -Lord Artur, upon seeing the enemy fleet bearing down on him “Did I request thee, Maker, from my clay To mould me man? Did I solicit thee From darkness to promote me?” -Mylten, Paradysium Forgotten, m.1 I look at the man in the mirror, the boy really. It's been 100 years since I left Caliban, and yet I still look the same as I did when I left. How did Miriame describe me? Ah yes, how can I forget. "Kind eyes, and a gentle smile." She'd say. "With the voice of an Angel." She'd murmur as I sang to her the grove where we'd flee our responsibilities. She'd wept when I'd been taken, and at the time I couldn't understand why. I do now though. She wept for the death innocence, just as women have always wept since the first man went to war. Just as I do when I pull the people down from the crucifixes, and end their pain. My hand traces the scar at my throat, a gift from a Cthonian dog, whose blade was quick, but discovered a thunder hammer often meant speed meant nothing. I am sure Miriame would not find my voice to be so beautiful now, considering his knife left my voice a gravelly whisper, a far cry from what it once was. My hair, once a dark blonde and down to my shoulders is greying and starting to thin, the after effects of XIV legion Chem munitions. I smile though, and the boy smiles back, though it is somber, grieving for what has been lost. I look at my helm, the white feathers stained a brownish red after 5 year of war. Five years of battling enemies who have no concept of honor, no concept of loyalty. They fall beneath my hand, beneath my hammer, and yet there is always another to take his place. I want this war to be won. I want it to end. I want to return home. To Aldurukh. To Miriame. To beloved Caliban. And yet I cannot help but feel that I will not have a home to return to. But the thought of my homes verdant forests, and noble people inspire me, so I fight on. Because I have to. Because if I don't, surely Caliban will fall. -Knight Sergeant Halandar Personal Reflections XVIII. IX [Knight Sergeant Halandar-Slain defending refugees from XVI Legion Reaver attacks. Vazzy
PART 5: THE LAST KNIGHT "Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius." "O,the last, I grapple with thee; From Hell's heart, I stab at thee; For hate's sake, I spit my last breath at thee." He stands in a pool of blood, the dark green of his tabard stained black by the blood of traitors. He stands, and walks forward, the clanking of his terminator armor the only sound he hears. He doesn't hear the cry of mortals as they're crushed beneath his maul, nor does he acknowledge their war cries as they attempt to drag him down with knife blades. Behind him, the sea green of the XVI litter the floor, the armor broken, blood leaking from them like a cracked bottle. His own plate is in similar disrepair, stained by flame, and shattered by shell. Before stand three of the Warmaster's finest, their jet black armor glistening in the pale moonlight. Bolt shells rattle of his hulking form, sounding much like the hail on his home, on Caliban. One round catches him in the gut, and he staggers, bright blood staining the skull at his hip. Inside his helm, all he hears is the wet wheezing of his own breath, and the coppery smell of blood. The first one has a humming power axe,and he swings it at the Knight's helm, the lethal blade cutting...nothing. The Knight has stepped back, and follows up with his mace, the spiked head crushing his opponents head, before the combi bolter explodes what is left in loud CRUMP. The second lunges forward with slashing claws, but goes down screaming as the maul destroys one knee, and caves in the chest with a follow up swing, ending the guttural cry in a wet gurgle. The last Justaerin is unhelmed, and gang tattoos mar his once noble features, the skin red and inflamed. The Knight pulls his own helm free, long dark flowing freely from the golden helm. His face is unmarked, and pale green eyes meet the bloodshot orbs of his opponent, who growls something in the gutter tongues of Cthonia. The Knight smiles, bringing his mace to his lips, kissing the head. A thin line of blood dribbles from the corner of his mouth, and his smile, his smile is stained red. He charges one last time, his maul screaming as it caves in his opponents leering face, though the axe splits his side, and he collapses to one knee. Blood waterfalls from his mouth as he stands, his body aflame. He growls into the vox, his voice soft, like a whisper in the dark. "This is Gawain. Gate...Gate of the Ancients...Secure. None shall pass." [Lord Gawain, Lance Keeper of Porticulis terminator squad. Gawain would be found in a healing coma, with 10 of the Justaerin elite and 25 Sons of Horus dead before him.] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328470-angels-of-death-i-legion-echoes-of-distant-terra/#findComment-4597768 Share on other sites
Vazzy
"Loyalty is It's Own Reward." -Lion El' Jonson "A warrior is the sum of his parts. Nothing More. Nothing Less." The 65th Company of the Dark Angels 6th Order is one of them many forces that were seen operating under the banner of the First during the Civil War. Led by Artur El' Uthor, the company focussed on mechanized warfare and lightning strikes that allowed for quick and violent assault to win the day. The company was part of Corswain's fleet following the dispersal of the VIII Legion, and was one of the many outriders that preceded the Lion's Seneschal. Predominantly comprised of Calibanite warriors following the Rangdan Xenocide, the Company was quick to adopt the traditions of its home planet and culture, with many of Company being members of the Order prior to the Lion's arrival. Artur would lead his forces against legionaries of the XIVth and XVIth legion following the skirmish at Cresnia IX, and would be renowned for breaking the Siege of Ishrafn. Interestingly enough, XVth legion forces as well as a group of Custodes and the Silent Sisterhood would also be found amongst the Company, though in extremely small numbers. Force Breakdown is as follows: HQ Artur El' Uthor- Captain, "Wolf of Caliban" Niko Tsla-Master of Signals Artyom Fel, Deathwing Strike Leader Line Infantry Veteran Squad Halandar Veteran Squad Kell Veteran Squad Bedivere Support Squad Gwayne Terminator Squad Pelias Terminator Squad Bek Terminator Squad Lothar Terminator Squad Heinrich Fast Attack Outrider Squad Layncelot Strikewing "Thunder" Dreadclaw "Wrath of Terra" Heavy Support Quad Launcher Battery Ballistae Heavy Support Squad Gareth Sicaran Venator "Excelsior" [brother Telthan, Veteran Squad Halandar, Lost to XIVth legion Chem Weapons] [Legion Symbol, M.31] [Additional Kit. *Note Honor Markings on Chainsword haft.] [ [Company Marking representing 5th Company, 6th order] Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/328470-angels-of-death-i-legion-echoes-of-distant-terra/#findComment-4603999 Share on other sites

Vazzy
"Of all the Legions, I must say, the First seem the most...distant. They are a breed apart, and they know it." -Attributed to Remembrancer Jeoffry Chauser "Fall. Fall like your Craven Father. Fall like the coward you are." -Knight Paladin Sigvald The role of the Knight Paladin with the Companies and squads of the First legion are highly disputed by Legion historians, with various members of the legion giving different responses. As far as this historian can tell, the rank of Paladin is worn by the Squad's most proficient swordsman, determined through a trial of blades before every campaign. The title hold no actual authority, but the warrior is nominally the second in command of a unit, despite others may having a greater claim to it. The Paladin fights the squads duels, and often times leads his brothers in the battle rites before a mission, an honor held extremely high within the Legion. [Knight Paladin Sigvald-Member of Squad Halandar] Sigvald is the second oldest member of Halandar, following the Sergeant himself. Descended from the hill tribes of the destroyed Republica T'jano, Sigvald is a warrior who has survived far more than he has any right to. Having slain Mitra Ironarm and Centurion Misra of the VIII legion during the Thramas Crusade, he would go on to kill multiple champions of the XVI and XIV legion, tallying a total of 101 duels won, a number unrivalled within the 65th company. The silence is your answer.'' -Vexilarius Ismael, Honor Detachment VII Legion PART 8: Echoes of Distant Terra The 65th Company would eventually find itself in race to track down an Alpha level psyker also pursued by the warriors of the VIIIth and XIVth legion. On Felucio VI, they would encounter a strike team composed of Custodians and the Silent Sisterhood, as well as 6 sons of Dorn. The Dark Angels would be wary of the Lions in their midst, and when the two groups parted ways a year and a half later, the enmity between the two groups would have not lessened in the slightest. It is fortunate for the 65th that Asios did not censure the Company for the 10 Thousand Sons warriors who served alongside the company, and instead warned of retribution once the war was concluded. Unfortunately, neither party would survive to bring this threat to a head.
