I need a French military name, not a rank just a name that people tend to associate with the French military.

De Gaulle?

Hmmm, that is definitely on target, but do we want to save that name for someone worthwhile instead of a redshirt captain on the wrong end of Compliance?

Or do you think we can get away with having more than one De Gaulle since nobody is probably going to remember the first one?

How about Thomas-Alexandre Dumas? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas-Alexandre_Dumas

I like yours best, I'll go with that.

Also, a thought has just occurred. When exams are over I want to write a Custodian named Muwutallis. Don't know why, just do. Arnuwandas could also work.

Where's that name from?

They're names of several Hittite kings

Happy to be of service brother.

Oh, sorry.

I should've told you about that. Thought that this was already well known. My bad. :/

It's a tremendous site. EVERY single peace of canon HH story is covered. Want to read everything about the Iron Warriors? Check his site and you know which books / stories you'll need.

His timeline is incredible. He even got a schedule of every single ship, which was mentioned. :O

...don't tempt me.

Thing is I'm not joking, the Curze in Konrad Curze comes from both the Ivory Trader Kurtz from the novel Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad (which is where his forename comes from) and the renegade Colonel Kurtz in the movie Apocalypse Now (which is based on HoD) both of whom were inspiration for Curze's character, so it's officially the 40k version of Kurtz! :p :D

Wait, so GW and FW put two Apocalypse Now references in their work? Because I swear the Xantriss Insurrection set-up seems awfully familiar...

I'm amazed you never saw that, Sim. 40K Wiki says it.

Anyway, made some progress on Mars, and I think we need a portrait of Irvin. Sim, how do you picture him? I imagine a short, sharply pointed beard, heavy but not disfiguring scars.

Inspiration hasn't kicked in yet for the Grave Stalkers, but I'm wondering about something that'd add to their role on the Day of Revelation.

Yep, plus as a bonus shout-out, M'Shen, the Callidus Assassin said to have murdered Curze is named after the actor Martin Sheen, whose character in Apocalypse Now ended up killing Colonel Kurtz. Edited by SanguiniusReborn
