The Void Revenants - Snake?! SNAAAAAKE!?

@Hushrong: Some people seem to prefer double volkite or even one volkite and one plasma. I just like the idea of a marine with twin plasma pistols calmly executing his enemies with bolts of plasma. Am glad you like the both the army and background, am really trying to make them unique and stand out as blackshields!

@Vairocanum: Thanks man! Yeah have added some battle damage to his armour, hope you like the finished product.

Ion Vrall, The Rad Wolf, Dishonored Son ---- former moritat of the VIIIth legion.

Shattering of Assur, 007 M31.

The dust storm hit, scraping against his chimaeric plate, the harsh particles impacting against his form providing contrast to the twin hums of his plasma pistols. The Bearers of the Word were near, he could feel it, a sibilant pulsing in the roots of his teeth.

He was standing above a plaza, near the heart of the dead city. The statue below him had been defiled, its form scarred with unspeakable runes and curses, mercifully obscured now by the howling wind and dust. The 17th had been here, and the city had screamed as they came. It wasn’t a place for mortals any more. Gene-forged gods stalked and fired and killed through its promenades and alleyways. Nothing lived where they walked.

The storm was beginning to abate, its energy spent against what remained of the city. Buildings were beginning to emerge from the roiling dust, one of the respirator clog alerts flashing in his visor winked out. A few last scads of wind slid through the air - one eddy whirled across the plaza, lifting the thick dust like a curtain. Stark in the sudden calm, six figures crouched over corpses, their deep crimson plate worn and faded, the colours lost to the dust.

Ion was disappointed. Only a small squad had been sent, and only one Apothecary among them.
It would have to do:  the crack and report of his hidden rad grenade lifted him from his contemplation. The squad below him reeling as their respirators and joints were peppered with radioactive shrapnel, clawing and cursing over the vox.  Ion grinned as they staggered, levelling his pistols.
The first beam of plasma struck the apothecary in the back, detonating his power pack with an earth-shaking explosion, killing him instantly. The second struck the sergeant below just below the eye, reducing his head and helmet to molten fragments. Ion continued to fire as he dropped from the fourth story of his hiding place, each of his shots hitting a target and cutting short a curse or snarl from his prey until he alone stood alone in the plaza as the twin suns blazed above.

Comments and criticisms are welcome, and a big thanks for my literary minded friend who helped edit the short story fragment, making it coherent and acceptable to read! (The moritat will get a proper base as well I promise!)

Guest Triszin

awesome.

Did you buy the new ulric to get the head or did you find a place to order it?

I'd be interested in knowning

@Triszin: Thanks! I bought the new Ulric for an earlier conversion and then painstakingly carved off the helmet in his hand (it was a bit of a pain).

@Vairocanum: Cheers man, glad you like his fluff and the model!

Bit of a divergence from the 30k programming, as have come up with a small 40k True scale Kill-Clade. They do tie into my Blackshields through an incredibly shady Inquisition faction who like to collect relics of the DAoT before the Mechanicus can get their hands on em:

@Vairocanum: Cheers man, will add some of your suggestions (especially regarding the combi melta).

I decided to go for a limited subdued colour scheme with a few stand out details, wanted to keep his origins and loyalties intentionally vague (which is ideal considering he is working for a very shady faction of the Inquisition: The Cyclops Cabal.)

@hushrong: Cheers man! Am really pleased how the dirty white scheme turned out!

@Vairocanum: Thank you! Am glad you like the small details and am hoping as well that the rest of the squad turns out as good :)

Right have a rather insane project idea for my blackshields which could also work for a 40k force am tempted to make. The idea being the pinnacle fusion of marine and Abominable Intelligence, called Golgoth, packed with all sorts of DAoT tech I envision this chap as a primarch style centerpiece. I have come up with a quick  concept drawing of what I imagine Golgoth to look like, shown below:

Now I have some ideas of the bitz I need, most likely some form of primarchs body and legs (most likely mortarion) which I am slightly apprehensive about considering I don't want to screw up whilst converting such a nice model. The other bitz such as the head and mace I already have, but am looking for any suggestions for his left arm (want ideally a pistol or weapon that looks suitably Dark age of technology) and his backpack! Any suggestions or  other ideas would be super welcome :)

You could try to get one of those unofficial fan made primarch kits as a base model if you don't want to cut up the official ones. Weapons from Kharadron Overlords look sort of dark age like. I don't think he would particularly need an external backpack since he's an amalgamation of marine and abominable technology so the energy source could be built within the armor? Great drawing, looking forward to the actual model!

Oh man, that artwork shows a lot of promise.

I definitely see Mortarion being a prime conversion candidate. Just haunt ebay until you see one someone is selling for a price you can live with. Just avoid sellers from countries where copyright does not exist.

@Vairocanum: Thank you, will definitely consider your suggestions!

@Hushrong: Cheers man! Yeah am probably going to do just that.

So I may have gone and caught 40k fever, which resulted in me buying dark imperium! This has resulted in me deciding to actually get a space marine army constructed and painted up. (Quick backstory being they are chimaeric descendants of my 30k Blackshields who are working with Cyclops Cabal).

Have built one squad of intercessors so far (Iron armour helmets go very well with primaris bodies) and shown below is my converted Captain in Gravis armour:

He has been reposed, and the awful hood removed alongside his power fist thingy. Am really pleased how he turned out but comments and criticisms are always welcome.

Good Lord, I damn near soiled my mk. V Boxer-Pattern leg armour when I saw this guy!

Bravo! Bravo, I say! This marine is more scary than any Night Lord.

@hushrong: Cheers man! Have tried to file down his beer gut so it should be less pronounced...

@RRChristensen: Hahaha I am glad you like him! He is a pretty creepy looking chap...

@Vairocanum: Thank you, I am really glad I got rid of the hood in the end!! Should have some more to show you now!

i'm rather amazed - the alterations you've made to the Primaris marines in terms of Iron Warriors heads etc., and the austere-yet-evocative grey paintjobs actually make me .. not-dislike Mk.X armour somehow. Well done!

Before seeing this i was sketch in the extreme about the possibility of decent truescales from Primaris, but you've really done a decent job.

@hushrong: Thanks man!

@Vairocanum: Cheers, am really enjoying putting my own spin on the primaris.

@Charlo: Hahah thank you! The helmets I find are much better than the regular primaris ones, and am really glad you like the captain!

@Ryltar Thamior: Thank you, you are way too kind! I was also pretty skeptical initially but I feel with a few alterations its possible to come up with some really interesting takes on the primaris.

Whilst I finish off the rest of the intercessor squad I manage to come up with a little conversion for the Primaris Ancient: May I present Void Speaker Krom, Warden of the Upper Vaults.

Any comments and criticisms are much appreciated, and any suggestions for the banner as I haven't glued it on yet and feel like it should be replaced..

The Primaris Ancient is looking pretty cool, nice choice of bits! Not sure if you meant replacing the banner itself or the whole arm, but a possible idea could be to give him a spear with a sideways banner/flag attached? Either way, looking forward to seeing more primaris marines!
