Wrath of Bruinen
Very nice greenwing knights, and the terminator master is very dark angel-y - go the Cathedral Armour! Almagor
Another assault squad, this time without jump packs. Arguably the second most useless unit in our codex. But as I always say: if you buy it - paint it, and if you paint it - might as well do it well... Almagor
I kind of neglected my Ravenwing force these past few month, so now it's their turn to get a treat: A Darkshroud! (also magnetized as a Land Speeder Vengeance). Naaman10th
I really dig the marble(?) style of the relic. Looks as awesome as all your stuff. Your thread is one of my inspirations to get better at painting. Your thread is one of my inspirations to get better at painting. Thank you! First time I tried the marble effect. Came out quite nice so I'm thinking about doing the same with the Dark Talon crypt and relief on the tail. sneakybamsen
Really crisp highlights, good work man! If I may be so bold, I'd try to make the plasma "coils" on the battery of the Vengeance more nuanced, Duncan Rhodes has a simple but quite good way of doing it. I try to do it myself, but my skills are not as obvious as yours, so you'd probably achieve a much better result than I can. JJD
The dark shroud looks great and I agree the edge hilights are super crisp. I strongly recommend anyone reading the thread should go into your gallery and view the full sized image especially if like me you are using a tablet or phone as these little images really lose the detail and don’t do the work justice. Edited just to mention the quality of the photos too. I like the professional looking back drop. While painting this army I actualy tried quite a few different methods of painting plasma coils. Didn't quite get to the point where i'm happy with them. Maybe I'll try Lord Duncans method next Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/331876-almagors-dark-angels/page/4/#findComment-5030454 Share on other sites
Stoic Raptor
Words fail. That marble, those windows... that edge highlighting... and the photos actually convey all that! Yet I'm sure it looks even better in person. Almagor
So I heard that scouts make good meatshields against deep strikes and turn one charges. Finally got around to painting mine. Naaman10th
You can never have enough bolter scouts these days :) I think I'm going to try the marble tutorial on my Nephilim wings. Looks like the technique would fit them quite well. Almagor
Another addition to my Ravenwing force: a Dark Talon! Decided to go with the same decorative marble/jade style i used on the Darkshroud. Quite happy with the end result, though I obviously need more practice painting random veins on marble. Also, I need a bigger lightbox and backdrop...
