Stormravens again - considering the up-pointing of all the other transports, Stormravens have stayed pretty static price wise. One with Twin Asscan, Stormstrike Missiles and Hurricane Bolters is 30pts less than the combined points for a Drop Pod and AC/HB Baal, which essentially do the same thing.

Can see myself giving air cav a go.

I've been watching the information come out over the last day and I'm still excited for 8th. The reset for all factions feels good as we go into the new game. Excited to find out what works for the Sons of Sangunius.

My only slight annoyance was to see that the list of units that can have the Blood Angel faction keyword was missing Land Speeder Storm, Stormhawk/talon and Cataphractii/Tartaros Terminators.

However, now I'm digesting the army building rules a bit more, we can still include them in a Detachment with all other units as Blood Angels. The Land Speeder Storm, for example, could be given the <Chapter> Blud Angels and my Blood Angels Scouts could happily ride to war in it. Sure, the LSS won't benefit from any Blood Angel Faction specific buffs, but who cares? Or how about adding an Airwing detachment of Stormhawk Interceptors? Again, no buffs, but otherwise fine.

That said, not being able to give Blood Angels faction to Cataphractii/Tartaros Terminators is a shame. Yes they can count-as Indomitus Terminators, but as a First Founding Legion it would have been nice to have them. I'm sure Dark Angels and Space Wolves think the same.

Dreadnoughts can't go in Drop Pods anymore.

GG.

Sorry, what the actual what?
Leaked data sheet last night / also the rule 4 books + rule book are now on a few Google drives.

Drop pod is only for infantry / characters now. Nothing else

*characters without terminator armor or jump packs, yet bike characters can go...odd.

It's kind of dumb terminators can't take drop pods either

I think we have to try and not look at certain things with older editions' eyes. no need for TDA in drop pods, as they can come down whenever by the third turn. if they can't be more than 9" away, they die. Deep strike against really fast armies is going to be brutal.

effectively if you go second, if the opponent is fast enough, he can force where your drop pod/Deep strike units can go, forcing you to stay in your half of the board, or in his back field as long as he doesn't have a conga line stretching across his back row to stop that.

Looking at the leaks it appears as if there are multiple death company HQ choices available, and death company are troops. All death company lists are legal.

Bolter DC in a rhino, Tycho the lost, Lemartes, and a couple of D.C. Dreads with Baal predator support will be fun.

Two 8th edition rules question for us:

1. Can we equip our chaplains with a jump pack?

2. Can dreadnoughts still use a drop pod?

Thanks brothers.

1. Yes they can. It is in the entry for Chaplains.

2. No as drop pods only list infantry as occupants.

Look again my friend, Death Company are still elites. If DC were troops this wouldn't be nearly as bad.

One if the detachment doesn't need troops - just HQ and elites.

Yup.

Going to make an Army of Assassins.

I have access to the whole array of books in PDF, but I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post them here.

From a first look in the Rulebook, there is no mention of terrain slowing movement. Only charging through terrain is impeded (add 2")

So no more difficult terrain tests!!!
