hopes, dreams, and fears for sisters in 8th

So judging by the article on Warhammer Fest we should be getting datasheets for the Repressor in the upcoming Index: Forces of the Adeptus Astartes book from Forgeworld. Despite the title, the book seems to cover the Sisters and Inquisition's units as well as those of the Space Marines.

That kind of makes sense, as the repressor and inquisition units were part of Imperial armour 2 (the old marine book)

I fear Repressor won t by sisters unique but "Armies of Imperium"

I fear we won t have out own faction but be "Imperial agents"

I fear we'll be a one trick pony thats designed to be allied with the rest of the imperial agents.

I fear GW will have no idea what to do with us and can't get beyond a watered down marines mind set.

I fear GW is wasting time with jeanstelaler cults, making jeanpriest models thatd look much better as an ecclesiarchy model.

I woke up melancholy today...

I hope all my fears go unfulfilled

I hope GW surprises us in an oh so awesome way.

I hope Celestine was our teaser for plastic sisters.

I hope Exorcists can come in squadrons.

I hope and fear so much...

Keep expectations low; cant be disappointed if you expect nothing.

Considering they took Bolt Pistols away from Plague Marines, and there seem to be no restrictions to shooting rapid fire or heavy weapons and charging I'm wondering if our most of our models will lose the Bolt Pistol...

EDIT: I just want to say that I don't hope they do this, but if they do I just hope Sisters get cheaper because right now they're FAR too closely point costed to Marines.

One thing to look forward to if they do take "Adepta Sororitas" and make it "Imperial Agents". We should be able to take chimeras. Not exactly amazing, but I could see a lot of situations that it becomes better to take than an immolator for regular sisters.

You can fit more into a Chimera for one. And two, I'm tired of building Rhino chassis vehicles. :P

On the subject of Transports, I wonder if we are going to get access to the Heresy era 'Kharon Pattern Acquisitor'.

It's a Sisters of Silence thing in 30k, but  in it's background it belongs to the black ships of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica, and we know that in 40k the Sororitas are the Warders on the Black Ships.

Pure conjecture on my part, but it would make a degree of sense.

Confirmed at Warhammer fest that 'Index: Adeptus Astartes' has Datasheets for all of Forge World’s Warhammer 40,000 Space Marines, Forces of the Inquisition and Sisters of Battle models.

So we get something from FW. Probably the Repressor.

And the Avenger.

Except for deathguard and primary marines. Especially the marines. Gosh everything there is new, talk about special treatment :

Back on topic: i woild not be opposed to sisters being the dual weildi g army. Let command squads, celestians and heroines be able to take dual pistols (bolter, melta and flamer naturally) in addition to seraphim.

On a slightly unrelated note, I feel like the new rules for plasma weapons are an indirect nerf to Sisters. Beyond the obvious (Plasma wounds Sisters on a 2+ even on safe mode), Supercharged plasma weapons have essentially moved into melta weaponry's design space, boasting the same profile (Strength 8/-4 mod) but with a superior range to their equivalents and in most cases access to a higher rate of fire. Certainly they have significant downsides, with a cap at two wounds per shot and a far harsher Gets Hot equivalent, but a Plasma Gun can now act as a lesser Multimelta (with no -1 penalty to move and fire) then close to 12" and fire two shots where a Meltagun would only get the one. Melta weapons have much higher potential damage and should do considerably more damage on a per-wound basis when in their element, but Plasma now seems to both have the flexibility to offer effective anti-infantry fire without worrying about Gets Hot and to gamble on Supercharging to present a fairly decent anti-tank threat.

We don't get plasma beyond the rare pistol, and I feel as though the new rules for plasma weapons once again give Space Marines options and flexibility that we simply can't match. I'm not suggesting that Plasma Guns are better at the anti-tank role than Meltaguns, just that they seem like they might be better generalists in the new Edition to such an extent that they can encroach on Melta's territory in a pinch. You certainly won't find Melta moving in on Plasma's patch, non-vehicles with 3+ wounds aside.

To get back on topic: Obviously the solution is to let Sisters add Exterminator Cartridges to their weapons so you can have Combi-Combi-Flamers.

I may be wrong, but I don't think we will be getting any new models. Thus we will only get options, for things we already have available. Still that may include new ammo types, and different modes for the Exorcist. I really hope we keep our bolt pistols.

Command squads will be dual wielding combi-flamers with exterminator cartridges, putting out 20D6 hits!  They could burn down a dreadnought in one shooting phase! (70 hits, 23.333 wounds, 7.888 damage).  What a dream.

But, yeah, we'll probably just get exactly what we have now.  Still, Command squads with everyone dual wielding combi-flamers or combi-meltas would be pretty powerful if silly looking.

Yeah I'd be surprised if we gain any options. I really hope the command squad maintains its versatility, dual wielding combi weapons would be interesting. I doubt we'll loose any real options either, for that matter. I'd think that we'll have the keyword "Adepta Sororitas" but if we don't, why does it matter? All our units will still be there and you can keep running the same army builds you have been.

Then again, for me it's not about being good, it's about playing Sisters.

I was just thinking wielding a flamer and Combi-Flamer, but hey, I'll take two of them...

Now to just figure out how to model that...

Combi-combi

The old canoness and plasma superior look like the easiest starting points (mainly because of the head facing on the other models)

So far, it looks like Celestine will remain pretty powerful. The spoiled shooting rules on BoLS clearly show that Celestine herself will have to fail a save roll, and then that wound, instead of being taken by Celestine, gets transferred to a Geminae :)  There had been some discussion a few months ago on how exactly that mechanic worked for her, and with the way the rules lay out the process its quite clear.
