Urriak Urruk
https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/06/22/army-showcase-maxime-pastourels-plague-marines-june22gw-homepage-post-4/ So I saw this article from Warhammer Community profiling Maxime Pastourel's Plague Marines. And of course I was amazed (even though I've seen it before) and thought, what other armies have been made that are of the same caliber as this one, using established lore but adding their own conversions to make an original but amazing army? Links would be greatly appreciated! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335535-examples-of-awesome-converted-armies/ Share on other sites
sockwithaticket
That's an amazing army, I'm quite surprised they've featured the Contemptor seeing as how its autocannon arms are 3rd party bits. Shinespider
The Army Showcases in White Dwarf often have some pretty great work in them. Rik Turner's Blood Ravens, featured in the November issue, are stunning. Joe
It isn't the first time third-party bits have been featured in the Army Showcase. To my memory, there's been products from POP Goes the Monkey, Kromlech, Spellcrow and a few other places in the past. Most of them have been from the armies of Games Workshop employees, though, as is the case here with Maxime Pastourel. They've never said where they come from, though. In stores, Games Workshop has never had an official stance on third-party products; it's largely down to the assistant manager/manager to make the call. Most tend to follow the lines of "if it's primarily Geedub, and doesn't break the visible profile, it's fine." Now, moving on... Around a decade ago there was a fantastically converted Heresy-era Ultramarines army in White Dwarf, long before Forgeworld's kits were a thing. I remember it vividly as they used Ork Boyz bits and the like for the Cataphractii shoulder pads. I don't suppose anyone has a link to that lying around anywhere? chapter master 454
I remember in a white dwarf, WAY back. one guy converted his entire army to have hover tanks inclluding a hover basalisk. Looked awesome, rough riders on hover boards and all sorts of cool stuff Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/335535-examples-of-awesome-converted-armies/#findComment-4796192 Share on other sites

Excubitor
Rednekkboss does some awesome (and gruesome!) work here; http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/253344-the-templars-of-dooooom-warpsmith/ Ms. Charlotte and Blinky are personal favourites. Hyaenidae and the others in the "in Memorium" WiP thread are awe-inspiring www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/282531-in-memoriam-update/ Scroll through the WiP forums and the Forge in general and you will find some brilliant stuff.
