Hello everyone, I have been a viewer of many different 40k blogs and have been inspired by many.

So I thought after a while to try and make one myself.

It will be a new hobby project of mine, to try and develop both my confidence with green stuff and conversion skills.

I have been a fan of 40k and played the game for going on about 12 years now, which isn't the longest time but after trying different armies going from Imperium, Xenos, Chaos and all the in-betweens, I haven't really branched out from the "plain box set" look. Building the models from the way they look off the box (which I might add, is totally fine and the models look fantastic in any case) I've decided to try and chop up and hopefully not destroy some quite expensive plastic models...

So why Night Lords? Well... after deliberating on what army to do this with I happened to think of a couple ideas; my own lost space marine legion; an Eldar Exodite army and a Night Lords army. Well the first two I thought were either, going waaay too overboard as a challenge or I just left the idea as it disinterested me. My friend who was a Night Lords player had made a multitude of different conversions which I thought were quite cool, while I at the time was playing Alpha Legion and that has always stuff in my memory as a neat idea. Plus I am a massive Batman/Joker/DC fan and the idea of having an army that combines the two is pretty great.

I have a friend who collects Necrons, Tau and Raven Guard (weird combination I know) and a Blood Angels guy whom I both regularly have a game with, so you might see some battle reports? or at least these on the table.



So with all that rambling done, he just has a basecoat on, here is my first attempt...

So there you are, not a high amount of pictures but a start!

Also I couldn't help but notice after converting him, he has a lot of similar qualities to Eredin from the Witcher 3: Wild Hunt game... A happy mistake.

I've also started on some marines, although I am struggling after these on other dynamic poses without a simple leg swap... hmmm...

Hello! Its been a long time, life getting in the way and have a cold so its a steady progress but here we are...













I really need to clear that Night lord shoulder pad up, my first time trying to paint the symbol by hand...hrmmm...

Wow I did not realize how big those photos would come out.

That made be worked on in the future.

I also have a picture of the few so far 'near completed' I'm still undecided on what style to do the base in. Probably a cityscape.

Really like what you have done so far nice crisp colour scheme. When it comes to basing maybe go for a desert/barron landscape as so it has a nice contrast with the models

That Chaos Lord looks super badass! Also really nice work on achieving such a lovely colour scheme (especially the lightning bolts), am really excited to see what you come up with next.

Looking great! Think desert or cityscape bases would work great with these. For the cityscape  I think that a warm grey would look best.

I really like that Chaos lord. Was that originally an AoS model?

 

There are mold lines visible on the plasma gunner's head, left gauntlet, and I think on the right shoulder trim, and on the handle of the other guy's chainsword.

 

Otherwise it seems like nice, clear painting and a good start.

Thanks everyone! I went with a cityscape/barren outlook for the bases, essentially I wondered what Eshin grey on a base looks like washed and it came out alright, i'll post some pictures soon.

@Sagentus Thank you! It was an amalgamation of making them dark, then too matt then the finished result, im glad you like them!


@Kordhal Cheers! I honestly didn't think the lightning bolts would come out so good, first time doing them!

@Calyptra Thanks! Its the Aspiring Deathbringer with Goreaxe and Skullhammer (Say that 4 times fast...) I wanted something bigger than a normal CSM and saw the skull helmet and the chains and thought I'd go with that. Yeah! I'll clear them up, it was pretty dark when I painted them and I probably had an itchy painting finger.

Hey! Its been a while but I have finished a few more and all based, with some new conversions.













So there you go! The helmet of one is Blood Angels mainly because its a homage to my friend who plays BA, you'll probably see that with other chapters. The Icon bearer has been converted to show almost a parody of the Aquila and the Night Lords Insignia, a further insult to those who worship the false emperor.
