Yeah I grabbed a box of Hellblasters the other day that were on sale at my local place after doing some theory around lists.  I only have 5 currently, so getting at least a 10 man rolling was an imperative; they are just all around good with their assault and everything, and can have some near pseudo chainswords with LAG.

I gotta push my friends to play more narrative leaning battles, we mostly just do the same Leviathan deck missions over and over and its starting to feel stale, though I haven't gotten our new guys out on the field yet.

yeah I have two units of helblasters (one even half painted!), haven't used them since 8th though, after seeing the pain they caused me, I may need to give them another whirl.

unrelated, but the other thing I wanted to note, was my scouts were real MVPs.

In the first game, they:

- killed most of a 5 man sternguard squad, 4 hellblasters and contributed heavily to killing a second sternguard squad.

in second game they:

- killed a vidnicare assassin

lol.

I'm wondering how to arm my Scout squads. So it is interesting to hear yours performed really well having a mixture of load outs in the squad. I like the idea of sniper weapons but was thinking the 1 per 5 men may be a bit limiting. Did your lone sniper have much success, if so, would you think about adding a second to the squad?

Scout loadout depends slightly on which missions you are playing. 1 Shotgun per squad is good if you are playing missions that allow Advance + Action but since Pariah Nexus does not, I go for the trusty old Pistol + Combat Knife for most of my Scouts as this gets maximum leverage from Red Thirst. I also take the Heavy Bolter and Sniper Rifle since they are free. 1 Sniper rifle usually won't do much but it is still a 2D AP-2 attack and every once in a while you might get lucky. Also if you have Eliminators, it can chip in and help finish off a Character that they have wounded.

Yeah I like the scouts, the mixed loadout hasn’t really impeded them, they aren’t going to do a huge amount, but they can do enough, is what I’ve found. Having a reasonable number of knives suits BA well obviously.

Made some progress on the captain. My plan is to add some sort of detailing to the right knee.

im undecided on if I want to use the head as is, or if I might trim it down to no hair and sculpt a longer style more like mephistons?

im planning to look at magnetising him somewhat so I can have him equipped as most of the captain wargear setups. Probably anyway.

That's some great Green stuff work. The tabard and chest icon have come out brilliantly. The Captain is my favourite model from our new releases. Great options and details.

thanks, the chest was a pain, was a bit risky scraping the entire pectoral area off the captain, but it’s come out pretty well.

tabard was happily very easy, I enjoy the old miliput + green stuff mix as it’s softer when first mixed, and can be sanded once dry, it also holds its position better than pure green stuff before it dries. That said the green stuff aspect also makes it less fragile once dry

Thanks all :)

I use a mix of push molding (the chest), the way I approach push molding, is I let the greenstuff set a bit, then I do the push mold, then I use sculpting tools to trim off excess and refine it so it is as crisp as I can manage. Or I just sculpt from scratch (the tabard, the knee, the hair if I do a different head). Just sort of learned over time that whilst I can sculpt pretty well, its often easier/less time consuming to make a quick mold of really complicated/easy to mess up things like an aquilla.

Anyway, interesting observation about our new captain model - he's quite short. I'd not really noticed before, but he's a lot shorter than the standard space marine captain (some of that is the space marine captains pose, but even so, our new captain is also a bit shorter than a standard intercessor). This has furstrated me now that I've noticed, but it might be useful knowledge for some. It's not a huge difference compared to an intercessor and if he's put on some form of sculpted base it wont be noticeable at all. But he's still probably the shortest captain I have.

In fact here is a picture beside my other power armoured captains.. I’ve not built the one from the company heroes set as  was replaced by others here

I hope the green hair makes the transition into the final version

Well done @Blindhamster

I’m probably going to say this is Aphael, which is sort of appropriate as the hair style is not too far off my old aphael which was based on art.

with that in mind, the hair should be a dark blond sort of colour!

The Captain looks amazing, did yours have an awful mold line up the back of the left leg as well?

I don’t recall there being one that was particularly bad to be honest, no worse than any other marine kit anyway.

So I started on the sanguinary guard.

ive done the main thing I planned to do and removed the cables from the torsos of the first 3.

currently undecided if I want to remove the ammo pouches and perhaps do my own replacements that sit in less wide positions - interested in opinions there.

outside of that, I’ve been working on the captain painting wise, will save pictures for when he is done though :)

I've gone with including the pouches, I'm not a huge fan of them because they dont fit flush with the belt, but on the other hand, I've included pouches on all my other models and these guys actually having spare ammo is a good touch that was missing previously - the issue really is just the design of the ammo mag in the first place.

hopefully, once I get some paint onto these the sculpting wont be too obvious. I'm a little way off that still at the moment though, I want to add detail to a couple of knees
