Thanks. I finished the red on their guns and weathered it today. I’ll start on their tattoos tomorrow and after that I want to add some tire-armour to them. The old shoulder pad here and there.

The nobs are taking longer as with that lovely flat armour there is plenty of room for freehand and decoration.

If the beast snaggas are monopose, at least I’ve got plenty of spare savage orc bitz :tu:

Earlier this year I got a second box of Boyz and of Savage Orcs so I’ve got plenty to be working on. I got a box of tyranid gargoyles too so I can make my stormboys squad. I might do them after finishing this Boyz Mob and the Nobz Mob.

You are quite right that it might turn out considerably cheaper to use savage orca if you got plenty of spare Ork bitz. Hopefully the Beasr Snaggas won’t be too expensive or are people simply will do the conversion.

Tattoos are done.

I’m now doing the nob’s backbanner, and adding some armour to a few of them. Some have bits of tire bolted into their flesh, others plates from Necron torsos.

The boyz mob is finished....and I’ll take some pics when I get the light box out. Soon. Today, I hope.

In the meantime work continues on the nobz mob, and I started painting the counts-as-Squiggoth Dino.

med_gallery_63428_13471_402294.jpeg

I did the underside the same as the lizard skin on some of the boyz:

Jokaero Orange basecoat.

Luggnath Orange Drybrush (kindleflame is the same, I think)

Flayed One Flesh Drybrush on the very underside

Reikland Fleshshade wash.

I’ll do the upper carapace in Mars-red, similar to the basing. I was tempted to the the skin dark, thinking that the beastly would have the red back armour as protection and camouflage, able to crouch down and look like a rock, and the dark skin underneath would look like shadow...but on the other hand the skin down there is nicely textured and I didn’t want to lose that in dark colours. Perhaps at night or when threatened the beastie buries itself in sand/regolith, just leaving its armoured carapace showing. :)

Anyway, I’m going to put metal supports bolted into the carapace and a bit of a platform atop it.

Only a bit as I want to make the howdah itself interchangeable. First a basic one with a driver, a kannon and one or two crew, to count as a Squiggoth...and have that detachable (magnets, maybe ;) ) so I can if the whim takes me replace it with a (make-later) huge howdah bristling with weapons and have the thing count as a Mork/Gorkanaut. :D I bought a Knight-sized base for mounting it.

The squad is done!

Nob, Grimsnik

His banner was heavily inspired by Waaargh Da Orks/Ere We Go/Freebooters. Can anyone translate/read the glyphs on his backbanner? ;)

More to come tomorrow. Must sleep now!

I like how you've integrated Ork glyphs into your banner. Seems to be 'Ere we Go written on there. Apparently he's also not that fond of the Eldar. :D

I'm not usually that fond of the Snakebite aesthetic but those tattoos and banners are so well executed. Nice work!

It is indeed “Ere We Go!”. I see that you are a learned man of culture! :D

Thank you!

And here’s the rest of the mob:

med_gallery_63428_13471_181070.jpeg

Drummer boy, with tire armour and holstered slugga. I did the cord around his left wrist black/yellow, imagining he’d pulled wire from inside something AdMech and decided to wrap it around his wrist. Some of the others have it holding weapons together.

med_gallery_63428_13471_304611.jpeg

you get an idea how close to apes they have modelled their faces ...:ohmy.: either that or its your awesome paintjobs! :tongue.:

I dig the black & yellow electrical cable used as wrapping

I giggled when i read 'Witness me!" ...

Great work.

cheers, Mithril

Thank you very much for the kind comments.

And yes, now you mention it, they look rather ape-like there!

I’m working on my dino base but unfortunately my go-to oxide paint had run out...

med_gallery_63428_13471_99028.jpeg

So brushed on some oxide craft paint.

And applied crackle paint.

med_gallery_63428_13471_147214.jpeg

Which cracked nicely!

med_gallery_63428_13471_681696.jpeg

There was a bit of touching up to do, then drybrushing and doing the exposed Necron terrain.

med_gallery_63428_13471_582673.jpeg

Now to put the Dino on there...

Thanks!

I added a bit more decoration...

med_gallery_63428_13471_129970.jpeg

Once he is painted (hopefully tonight) I will use crackle paint around the edges to make it look like he is being stomped into the ground :D

:D That indeed would be quite some shiatsu!

Here’s the driver for the Dino/squiggoth:

med_gallery_63428_13471_172570.jpeg

med_gallery_63428_13471_229831.jpeg

med_gallery_63428_13471_428.jpeg

med_gallery_63428_13471_474544.jpeg

He’ll have chains from the stick in his right hand, to the dino’s mouth (or more likely anchored into the shell/armour on each side of its head).

I gave him a huge snake on his head as I figured whoever gets to drive such an important beastie is probably someone important, and gave him a decently long weapon so he can take heads from his perch.

I was looking around for things to use as the base of the howdah (I want to make it from all kinds of bitz in proppa Orky fashion) and realised that my Aegis defence line has not seen the light of day in many years... and two of the small pieces, bottom-to-bottom are an absolute perfect fit for the back of the dinosaur:

med_gallery_63428_13471_107479.jpegmed_gallery_63428_13471_139182.jpeg

The driver will go on a small platform in front of this, and the crew and kannon on top of plates welded to the top of these Aegis sections.

Then I had an idea...

med_gallery_63428_13471_30302.jpegmed_gallery_63428_13471_319122.jpeg

Triple the floor space. Spikes and barbed wire around the edge. I could build up the middle even more and go for a counts-as Gorkanaut or Morkanaut...

Make it a real centrepiece for the army.

Thanks.

I think I’m gonna do both options. I’ll make the howdahs removable. The smaller one will have a couple of crew and a kannon so it’ll count as a Squiggoth, and as for the bigger one I’m going to build up a turret in the middle of it and make it a Morkanaut. :D

Thanks. It’s going to take a loooooong time to do so I think it’s something I’ll be returning to from time to time.

Today’s lunch hammer was four of my nine nobz mob. Weathering their armour and highlighting the three power stabbas. I’ll weather the other five’s armour tomorrow. It has taken a long time to do all the freehand on them.

I finished the nobs’ armour yesterday and will do their skin today.

I got a bit more work done on the DinoMorkanaut:

med_gallery_63428_13471_516648.jpeg

Still got so much to do, but I’m going to be getting the Underworlds Savage Orruk band this weekend and converting them before finishing this.
