So ultramarines chapter tactics has been released. Allows them to fall back and shoot at -1 to hit penalty. Pretty strong with current marine meta of assault Razorbacks and guilliman/azrael reroll etc.

So what do you we will get? Will we stick to the theme from 7th of altering ballistic skill in overwstch? Full BS overwatch would be pretty overpowered in setting of a static gunline.

From the smurfs chapter tactics it seems gw are going down the route of two benefits, admittedly this is based upon one example.  I would have thought the +1 leadership suited DA better and I'm struggling to think of anything they could give us that was either different to this or the current Unforgiven rule, perhaps rolling Unforgiven out to the whole Dark Angels keyword? Possibly too powerful though.

Shooty wise 5+ overwatch is a possibility or maybe a negative to charge rolls made against us?  I'd love to see our own version of "For the Greater Good".

I would like to think they'd give some sort of interaction to RW and DW, as that's "Us". They'll probably do something with overwatch as mentioned from last edition.

I really like some 'hold the line at all cost' kind of thing. Maybe even tied to objectives. Something like 5+ overwatch and 4+ overwatch +1Ld when holding an objective.

Having said that, those are Chapter Tactics. BA, SW and DA might not get the same type of rules (as in two boni to the whole army) as they are, technically speaking, different armies altogether.

I would like to think they'd give some sort of interaction to RW and DW, as that's "Us". They'll probably do something with overwatch as mentioned from last edition.

Maybe Ravenwing will get teleport homers that allow Deathwing to deep strike closer than 9" from the enemy.

What really makes sense from a narrative perspective? Honestly I always wondered about the bonus to over watch thing as I never really understood how it fit, although maybe I'm missing something?

I COULD see something that ties the wings together, like bringing back the ability for ravenwing to drop a teleport homer for DW or something, I dunno if a rule like that would be too complicated though.

What kind of tactics and such really define the DA other than having a fairly balanced force though?

Edit: oops! Missed Eib.Almera's post above mine, great minds think alike I guess!

i dont think the individual wings will get anything, as they already have jink and unforgiven. We will get a "chapter tactic" that will probably apply mostly to greenwing, like before i suspect

They can change the special rules from the current index if they so please. To be fair, Jink isn't all that useful, save on DWK, Unforgiven seldom comes up due to the squad sizes of Deathwing, and rerolling against units that very few people use, in a single phase makes that part of it a bit of a unicorn. Thematic, sure, but useful?

They should add more flavour to them, more synergy between wings, as that is what makes the DA unique. We'll have to wait and see what they do, but they have plenty of space to work with.

Look back at 2nd Ed for inspiration.

What I would like too see however, is some deployment shenanigans like RW formations outflanking in 7th and maybe a Deepstrike formation for the DW that improves them somehow (closer than 9" or shoots twice etc.)

Relentless on Termies so our heavy guns are good and a reduction in points for TDA dudes.

I'd rather them focus on what makes the Unforgiven unique and not just give us a flat rule. I want my Deathwing/Ravenwing synergy back. I loved having those teleport beacons, now we got an alright jink ability that seems to only benefit Black Knights.

But consider that it comes on top of whatever bonuses DA will receive.

I suspect that instead of a relic from old Caliban they just have a Ravenguard locked up inside there and he produces the -1 hit bubble :teehee:

White Scars get extra 2" on advance for bikes (so auto 8") and can fall back and charge....way better than jink id say!  And a strategem that lets them advance and charge

Agree.  I wonder if we'll see separate Deathwing and Ravenwing stratagems?
