At the end of the statagems are two for Questor key word, one that you may use on other Mechanicus units and the second that enhances the invulnerable save for a Questor unit.

As far as I can see that  second stratagem is the only thing in the entire book that benefits Knights if you play Knights only army.

The only detachment that allows you to play multiple knights is the one in the main rule book.

I am very disappointed with the way Knights have been treated in this edition.

I suspect they'll add more for full-knight armies at a later stage, perhaps a codex of their own again or perhaps in Chapter Approved.

honestly if you take two enginseers and 15 rangers (224 points) you can get 3 more command points on top of the 3 from a super heavy detachment , giving you 9 to begin the game with and giving you more buffs in the form of guys healing your knights, the ability to give them canticles, and at least two more stratagems in the form of allowing you to ignore damage taken to work at full power or giving you a 5+ save against mortal wounds. this is amazing for knights in my opinion, and I think this is a fairly low key way to make them better, especially the knight crusader.

you can ensure that no matter what level of health you got your shooting everything at full, while also benefiting from canticles no matter what they got, while also healing it while the others have fun, while also getting three squads to hide and grab objectives. Play lucius and suddenly you can deep strike those three infantry squads in, and take the relic that can teleport your warlord 30" across the field to keep up with your combat knights / play medic.

This is not the Knight book.

This is the Ad Mech book featuring Knights.

They'll get their own codex with strats/ relics/ warlord traits/ household rules eventually

I think you're right, but probably not till next year though.

FWIW, I've emailed Forge World asking about using FW kights with the new codex. It,d be nice if they put out some errata.

Knights will come for sure it's an easy buck. Just swap formation rules for Strategems and print some cards.

I think the Admech will have some serious struggles with this Codex. Psykers, and speed, and long range / indirect stuff is still looking difficult. That being said I really like the codex. Now that I have it I confess there are some truly bizarre decisions for me. Like Russtalkers and some forms of weapons never got fixed. I just thought that was a bit odd.

What I really liked was the detail on page 8 under the third Macroclade, and on Page 9 under Forge world Command

"- Transports"

"- Transport craft"

Now, with the hierarchy as it is, it's totally plausible that those are definitely referring to transport ships (as you probably wouldn't transport the entire force on fighting ships), but at the same time, and especially at the Macroclade level (which includes Planetary Assault Craft & Drop Ships, Knight Households and Super-heavy Cohorts), I'd personally read this as meaning:

As the Adeptus Munitorum over-simplified view of things, Ad Mech transports are managed at the Macroclade level, not the Cohort or Maniple level.

There's also the mention at the bottom of page 9:

"Specialist cohorts are arranged as needed and include Infiltration Clades, Armoured Cadres, Rad-zone Corps, and so on."

Which in my mind, reads entirely as total carte-blanche to start including Spearheads of Techmarines+Marine Tanks, all-tank/vehicle Astra Militarum forces and so forth. Even all baneblade superheavy formations.

They don't fall under the normal rules from this Codex (but then a lot of the tagging is, in my view, over-specified to correspond to <FORGE WORLD> rather than <IMPERIUM> AND VEHICLE, but I digress), but as AM Engineers and Astartes techmarines are there - it hopefully shouldn't be difficult to fudge it in a minor way...!

I'm very much enjoying it so far.

:( still can't get one locally.  Travelling for business and the only store within 1 hour (as far as I'm willing to go) sells out of every codex on the first day and seems reticent to order more.  Makes me miss the x2 FLGS back home.  :dry.:

you know we may have not gotten any new transports, but I'm happy now that my vanguard units may be able to be used at full power thanks to the lucius deep strike, possibly for the first time since I used an unbound rhino list in 7th! arriving unharmed and in range now in order to actually do stufff, combined with the increased durability... man I can't love it enough.

so, what's everyone's shopping list now? based on "priority" I mean. so far mine now is:

2 boxes of electro priests

2 more boxes of taser dragoons

1 box of fist robots

and a lot later , 2 more imperial knights

annnnnd I think that would be it for me personally, which still comes to around.... $260 before the knights.

Ooh, I think the very top of my shopping list is definitely another two robots. 2 robots and a datasmith doesn't feel at all like a maniple.

Four and a datasmith... now we're talking!

Beyond that, I've managed to convince myself that a suicidal Gallant would be a lot of fun. I missed out on (but fantasised long after the opportunity passed) getting an Avenger Class Grand Cruiser in BFG... I think a Gallant or three would get me back to sensible realms...

But in a more practical sense, my most sensible priority would be to get another two Onagers so as to fill out a squadron.

But doing that means also acquiring two extra dominii and a boat-load more Skitarii. (Also that painting the Onager turned out to be a lot easier than I expected is nice encouragement.)

As such, acquiring the FW upgrade arms would perhaps be advisable...

I'm building a knight porphyrion. Just finished painting 2 kastelans, 2 converted enginseers, and some skitarii to fill out the units I already have in a functional manner. I'd like to get some more infiltrators as I play mostly Mars, which provides some mutual benefits. Mars gets the ability to deep strike, and they benefit greatly from double canticles and the wrath of mars stratagem on their flachette guns.

To get my pure AdMech army to brigade size I'll probably need another Start Collecting box, a box of Kastelans, 2 Epriest boxes for Stygies shenanigans, 3 Ironstriders (2 Dragoon, 1 Ballistari), box of Kataphrons, and an Enginseer.

I know I'm missing some core stuff, but that because I play AdMech+Knights, so I've always been troop-heavy with AdMech so I can hold objectives while the Knights charge in.

The brigade is 2500+1500 of Knights brings my army into Apocalypse range with CP to burn. Should be fun

On my shopping list at the moment (starting Admech with the new Codex) are two Start Collecting! Boxes, an Enginseer, a box of robots. That should give me a good start. But a lot more will follow down the line..... already planed for 3000 points including a Knight as a center piece.

Got my codex, it's very nice. Gotta say the 8th ed codex designs are far and away murdering the 8th ones. No stupid pictures in the army list. Only as many photos as it should be. LOADS of artwork, some new some old. Good fluff too.

The Kastellan colour plates are heresy book level gorgeous.

My only gripe is that ALL of the Knight houses are Red with a bit of white, black or a hazard stripe. Wouldn't have killed them to do one in Ryza orange or another FW colours.

I was surprised they didn't have paint schemes for the vehicles. They were painted quite different to the Skitarii they do show. Hopefully next time round the Studio army will be a different colour scheme. Only a small gripe though. I enjoyed reading the book.

3-4x boxes of Electropriests.  I can't decide if I just want 15 Corpuscari, or 10 of each variety.  I am leaning towards the former because we need chaff removal more than dicey mortal wound generators (especially given Mars stratagem).  I really like the models for these (nostalgia, maybe? Loved these guys in Rogue Trader/Codex Imperialis), so I'm glad they are useful now.

2x more Taser dragoons for a total of 3, because they are awesome and because I want to have 3 FA options (I wish Infiltrators were FA).  These were always cool and I always intended to get more that I never got around to.

That's pretty much it.  I know robots are the shiznit, and I only have 2, but they are a very boring unit to spam.  Plus I have 8 Castellax, 6 Vorax, a Vultarax and a Thanatar from 30K that I hope will get 40K rules eventually.  And that's not even counting the Thantar variants and Domitar which are crap in 30K but may become good in 40K, or the so far unreleased jump pack robots (name escapes me).  Kastelans are by far the ugliest of the bunch by a mile, so I'm content with just two.

If anything, I actually got some Mechanicus I probably need to get rid of.  I have two Vanguard/Ranger boxes I was going to use to convert the Secutarii, but I'm disenchanted both by the final conversion pieces and the rules.  Hopefully will be able to trade them for something else.

I'm trying not to buy anything new for the moment while i work at my glacial disabled pace on my existing purchases (current focus: the Sector Mechanicus terrain) but once i have it'll be another Dragoon or two, a second unit of Electropriests so i have one of each type, another unit of Kataphrons and a 3rd Onager.
