The Angels Laridae

This is my custom RG successor chapter, the Angels Laridae.

It's a mostly jump pack and flyer army, the colour scheme is based on seagulls

This is 1st Captain Myke and his unfortunate pet cultist, he's my counts-as-Shrike

This is Chief Librarian Tredavious and Father Beatdown, the only Chaplain for the entire chapter

Here is Lieutenant Gylfi with his double-sided eviscerator (counts as Teeth-of-Terra in-game). He was one of my first paintjobs after an eleven year hiatus from the game, he's a bit rough

This is my Chapter Master. As per Chapter rules, he has long relinquished his actual name and is simply referred to as the Admiral. The Admiral gets carried into battle by Livingstone, an ancient giant gull native to our home planet, Galapogor

Not everything flies. Galapogor has 2 extreme climates, one is oceanic and coastal, the other is icy and cold. On this side of Galapogor is where the much smaller contingent of tactical, scout and devastator companies are trained in isolation from our airborne manfleets

I will update you with their progress

Dude that's awesome! I really like the conversions and colour scheme!

What white do you use?

I also like how you've added those wings to the jump packs instead of just using the full sang guard back pack

Thanks, and thank you everyone. It's White Scar white built up from Celestra grey. Tbh, when I started back to the hobby, I had no idea that white was so hard to paint, and I think it shows. A lot of the layering is quite rough and inconsistent. But I basically have lahmian medium dumped into all of my whites and greys and my more recent paintjobs have shown a deal of improvement

Where'd you get the giant eagle? Does he simply "count as" a jump pack, maybe granting bonus attacks when the Admiral Charges? (I don't think a real eagle will be useful in the vacuum of space, or on Venus and other planets with toxic atmospheres.)

It's a great eagle from fantasy with a green stuff beak. He just counts as a jump pack. I actually have two packs for him that both magnetise on to his back, one is just plain if he needs to get into a building or not fall.over every 2 seconds

I can see you've put a lot of time and effort into the painting and I commend that, I'm not a decent painter either but you've gotten them to tabletop standards so well done. And then to prove their tabletop standard you put them on a standard tabletop. But please don't get bogged down on the modelling painting side of the hobby, you could be good at the gaming part

Great idea!! shame its not painted that bit crisper, the sloppiness really lowers the overall look

I think you need to be more fair than that, clearly a lot of time was put into painting this army. Its quite high concept to replace the Raven motif with Seagulls, and I think OP deserves credit for thinking of this. Most people don't live near the sea and haven't heard of Seagulls

like the time and effort you put into this, the models look really good.

No doubt that you are a good painter.

Would you be able to give some background into why you went with Seagulls?

It would seem an odd choice, most would probably went with a more fearsome animal like a hawk or Eagle,

seagulls just seem a bit dull

I said it was a good concept but time spent on painting does not equal good painting

Do you live near the sea?

They really are just considered vermin really.

They are good at stealing food from old people and kids. And fowling up statues.

Like I said, just think a more fearsome animal would have been a better use of your time.

And White is hardly a colour scheme

Welcome to the B+C and the Ravenspire. Now that 100% of your posts so far has been spent telling someone how their paint job is not good, maybe share a constructive suggestion about what you would do differently?

I'm still blown away by the idea behind this army, replacing one bird theme with another is such a brilliant idea.

What white did you use? Is there any difference between Corax white & White Scar?

I really struggle with white, should I spray Corax and then base with White Scar or is there any difference?
