I had not settled on a color scheme so I have a variety of colors in my army and I am totally fine with it to represent the different ages of the Custodes and dreads. The darkest Galatus known as A:cussaka has stood sentinel over the emperor himself weathering the intense energies of the throne for nearly three hundred years before he yielded the position to train newly entombed Custodes during the recent daemon incursion on Tera itself.

A:cussaka is the leader of the emperor's entombed Custodes and only steps forth to fight an enemy that has approached the throne.

Headway. Still so much to do on these guys. Unsure of the black capes and stuff should I switch it to red?

Hi betrayer41,

These Custodes are looking great, very nice contrasts between cool gold and warm reds, as well as gloss gold and matte base. Very similar to what I'd like to achieve with my own.

Can I ask what your paint recipe is for the bases?

Thanks and great job!

Thanks Mate! very very simple. Haha took me forever to find a scheme a liked. almost always the easiest.

Black Primer

Airbrush two light coats of VMA gull grey.

Heavy wash of agrax

Drybrush VGA bone something or other

Dry brush VMA white grey.

The rubble part is:

VMA concrete

Heavy wash agrax

drybrush white grey

Usually its a bit too white so i water down some of the concrete and kind of rewash it.

@Inquisitor lorr, Yodrhin, here is the recipe:

1-Black undercoat

2-Ammo MIG Old Brass (airbrush, 15 psi)

3-Vallejo Game Air Glorious Gold (45 degree, airbrush, 15 psi)

4-Ammo MIG Gold (from above, airbrush, 15 psi)

5-Light drybrush of Necron Compound

6-Violet shade in the shadows (airbrush, 12 psi)

7-Seraphim Sepia wash (brush, make sure it is dry before next step)

8-Nuln Oil wash (brush, make sure it is dry before next step)

9-Light drybrush of Necron Compound

10-Wash of Seraphim Sepia/Lahmian Medium (50/50, brush, make sure it is dry before next step)

11-Some edge highlights using Ammo MIG Silver (brush)

Very nice figure. Would you mind sharing your technique on the sword? You have very smooth transitions and it works well with the gold.
@Redking, yes, sure. Well ... it is airbruhed which makes it quite easy once you are able to use it properly.

1-Basecpat black

2-Vallejo Game Air Magic Blue (cover all the black)

3-The dark parts are obtained by adding some black to the Magic Blue

4-The more pale parts are : GW Temple Guard blue followed by GW Baharroth Blue

5-The edges are GW Baharroth Blue with white, around 50/50.

It is important to block one side of the blade with masking tape while painting the other side.

There are some tutorials on youtube that will show you how to do it, just type "painting power sword".

I’ve been thinking about finally getting an airbrush and pump and this is really making it hard to ignore!

What airbrush/ pump do you use? Any advise for starting airbrushing to reach a similar standard?! I’ve never tried before!!

Sharrowkyn, sorry about this late reply ... missed your comment :sad.: ! I use three airbrushes, a Badger Patriot 105 for priming and varnishing, a Badger Khrome for the basic stuff and a Badger Sotar for the details. I recently purchased a Badger TC910 Aspire Pro compressor ... and I would never go back to what I had before which was an Iwata Smart Jet. But since you've never airbrushed before ... I would heavily recommend you to search the web for articles and videos. English not being my first language it would be way more helpful :smile.: !

Added a bit of depth to the gold. Gotta knock out details and then onto bikes!
