CM, solid update, just one question.... with grayseight, did you take into account the -20 from two weapon wielding and +10 from ambidextrous when calculating his target numbers?

Or the +10 from close range?

What the GM has written, he has written.

Very true MR, I just wanted to see if he had forgotten those modifiers...

By the way, is Akkad going to say anything back to Tyber, after his explanation of his experience with... alternatively armour cleaning methods?

He will good sir - just wanted to let others have a go at posting!

@ A.T  I noticed that!  Surely a firm handshake isn't something to be worried about though :biggrin.:?  A solid post in the IC thread as well by the way - will be interesting to see how White Scar and Raven Guard successors go at it!

Hi all, I had to rewrite part of the update. I did have Solastion dodge the servo-arm but it turned out that he couldn't. The rules say you can't use a reaction on your turn. Solastion attacked, Sabaan used the servo-arm as a reaction, then it was Sabaan's turn and Solastion dodged. Have I misunderstood the rules?

Steel - I did miss those modifiers, yes. Some of them at least! Still it is enough to get us through. We are in the closing stages now!

Nope, thats fair enough actually.

Also, for future reference, an Improvised Weapon counts as Primitive which means Non-Primitive Armour would double its Ap value against it.

So, uh, use your combat knives in Astartes-on-Astartes combat battle-bros because they're not primitive :P

We are in the closing stages now!

This is good - have enjoyed the camaraderie and back and forth, even the trash talking, but now I cannot wait to sink some Heavy rounds into some 'Stealers.

And to actually not be trying to kill each other (UNLESS SOMEONES ALPHA LEGION :O!)

Also, Drama and character building! because whats a better way for space marines to bond than by doing it while PURGING THE UNCLEAN XENOS FROM HIS DOMAIN!?

I think the servo arm is intended to work in the same way as the Furious Assault talent - when you take your normal action you give up one of your reactions to make an extra attack, at the cost of leaving yourself without a reaction to dodge or parry.

After the leisurely pace earlier, I'm struggling to keep up here. Great work all around!

Guess it's going to be all Dragonball Z'dish tough guy bonding afterwards. Nothing builds real and everlasting friendship like beating each other halfway into next week! Do not let the Pony Brigade tell you otherwise!

I also have to take another look at the servo-arm. It's done quite a number on Solastion for what I was still taking for a glorified cup-holder. Still looks stupid though ;p

I had said to you that serve arms were beastly things in CQB Xin, back when we started....

Well they are powerfists with bonus attacks.

I'm just fairly sure they are not supposed to be entirely undefendable powerfists with bonus attacks :p

I'm not sure on that part either, I would think you could use your dodge or parry action against them... Still until Sabaan goes again, he cannot dodge any incoming attack....

I do remember that. And I will sing the hymn of appraisal for this glorious gift of the Omnissiah from here on ever after! ;)

Guess the thing is indeed that you have to skip of any reactionary move / dodge to use it in that way. Which would feel kind of uncomfortable in another situation. I think it kind of goes wonderfully with the Iron Hands' disdain for their enemies here, though

I can't check my books as I'm busy (next free time and update on Tuesday night/Wednesday morning) but I will read and try to rework my understanding of things.

No problem CM, I'm happy to give you a hand if you need it... I used to have a cheat document with all the modifiers on it....

It is suitably vague that it could go either way.

On the bright side parry, unlike dodge, is not 'turn only' so I imagine both Atratus and Sabaan will be saving that all important parry reroll fatepoint :p

Good to know. That way I can take some time in writing up Sabaan's response and not worry to much about keeping you guys waiting.

Hi all,

As I write this I'm working on the post after having spoken to Nineswords elsewhere - I have worked out the Greysight/Atratus half of the fight, and am working on the Solastion/Sabaan half.

I've also had a look at the Servo-Arm's rules, and my ruling would be this:

Sabaan may make an action and attack with the servo-arm, forfeiting his reaction for the round.

Sabaan may attack with the servo-arm, leaving his reaction free (for example, to dodge)

Sabaan may make an action (and use the servo-arm attack as the one reaction in the turn.)

Xin, in combat you should try where possible to make clear what you wish to do.

Hi A.T. - can you let me know why Atratus has a dodge of 65? It helps me if you can let me know rules so I can try to file them away. (And why the critical damage is halved? Is it your armour?)

The extra 15 points of agility would mean that you'd have passed the dodge by 15 - which would still not negate anything beyond the first hit. However, the halving of critical damage would mean you sustain 1 rather than 2 - this only knocks you 1D5 metres rather than 1D10, so you would sustain 5 levels of fatigue rather than 10, and still be "alive." - you will be prone (or floating in zero-g) and be able to act. I will amend.

Corvus armour (10) & background (5).

It would avoid a second bullet if applied, I think you were using it as an opposed roll having to negate the shots successes? (Pg 239)

The critical hit damage is from true grit that all marines have by default (pg 128)

---------------------------------

If Atratus is still up i'll stick to the original post and rolls (and update the fluff when i'm not half asleep and cranky)

One attack when Greysight moves away and (depending on damage) a second on the charge. The knife attack would be lost in both cases.
