So it answers a few questions:

  • we'll see both ahriman and magnus
  • we keep access to dark hereticus and get a new disipline
  • no exalted
  • as suspected: tzaangor shaman is elite, mutalith vortex beast is heavy support, enlightened are fast attack
  • skyfires are called tzaangor elightened with 'fatecaster greatbows" -> single profile with different weapon options?
  • the rubric marines are listed as having "glamour of tzeentch" and SO have "temporal manipulations" -> maybe the aspiring sorcerers can pick a spell now?
  • we get access to doombolt (tzaangor shaman has it) -> this was our anti vehicle spell in 7th right?
  • we'll see a new relic "dark matter crystal", equiped on the demon prince

I'm so excited just from reading this!  I can't wait!

Yeah, aspiring sorcerers being able to choose the powers is huge. No need to spend a CP for the familiar stratagem. This makes the nerf to smite much less of an issue.

 

Enlightened are basically both skyfires and normal enlightened combined, which is cool. Shaman is Elites, which helps with filling out the detachment. 

 

Excited to see the mutalith being showed.

 

I assume Magnus has the warlord trait that gives an extra psychic power. not too bad i guess. Curious if there are better ones though.

 

Should be nice to see the relic in action too!

If it is like the orks/grey knights psychic power that allows one unit to be teleported, it would make rubrics and tzaangors both much more scary, as they can suddenly teleport to charge range/rapid fire range and with warp time added to boot... lol i teleport my birdgoats, i move my birdgoats, i strike with my birdgoats :D

I'd almost bet money on such a power or Stratagem being available for TSons.

Temporal Manipulation does sound like an alternative to Warp Time doesn't it? Maybe it allows you to leave and enter the battlefield after deployment? Or something like -1 to hit for shooting attacks as they phase in/out of time.

 

Who knows!

Looks like the DP and Magnus have more than usual for Spell selection. Now this has me intrigued. Maybe we get 1 more power than normal on characters? but then ahriman doesnt have anything else... So its likely that Magnus gets 1 power from Tzeentch board, AND possibly DPs in Tsons armies get 2 powers. Color me intrigued batman

Yeah, I used it with my necrons (Vargard obyron has teleport ability and the new relic from chapter approved too. It is really nice to teleport and rapid fire immediately

I'm seeing a lot of the emphasis is going to be on the AoS line. I mean that's not terrible but I'm looking at units I never thought I would look at before.....

 

Vortex beast? (no idea about specifics but it's got to be a heavy shot)

 

Tzaangor with bows on disks... Elite Tzaangors... lots of Tzaangors.

 

So who do you think is going to win this one?

I have a feeling we will see a lot of damage dished out by the 9man unit of Enlightened with bows. They can probably avoid combat with everything minus jetbikes. I expect Magnus won't last 3 turns. If the Tzaangors manage to get a charge off, they will eat a Custodes unit if Ahriman puts Prescience on them or something.

 

I am sure it will be rough, but I think if the Thousand Sons can force the Custodes forces to spread out, the Mortal Wounds will do the rest.
