Upon closer inspection, they really screwed up Russ's face....

But I'm quite interested to see how the novel turns out, and I'm genuinely hopeful that Russ will get a good showing.

How about this from the internal artwork, something a little different...

Holy terra, what is this. O.o

Those are werewolves sitting the the dining chairs.....

Hmmm, horus strikes and he falls into the "Odin sleep (comatose)" Russ with a vision of the future.

A future in which all of his children have degraded into werewolves, and he stands surrounded by his children in despair of what they've become

Could this be the future that Russ had foreseen

I'm thinking yes. I edited my post, I need this art, I need this book, is this the limited art?

Could also explain if Russ was the one that put cawl on making primaris in an attempt to prevent the future he's forseen for his children, only to end up fulfilling it. (primaris wolves allgo 200%wulfen"

30K meets Twilight

...and Russ does look a bit Fulgrim-esque in that art

More like 30K meets Van Helsing / Underworld if you're refering to the Wulfen.

Loving that art, though. Can't wait for this one. Also curious of what we will see of Cawl. It's good that he'll be introduced by Haley. That way, we'll get a constant depiction of him instead of being written by different authors.

And there are quite a lot Primarchs mentioned. Think that it will start on Terra along the other Primarchs. Seems to be told from Vlka perspective, which I approve! :tu:

Curious to see how Guy will treat them. Has he handled them previously?

So daddy has long flowing hair and Horus is bald ...

So that’s The reason behind the Heresy. Hair envy!

On board the Vengeful Spirit:

Horus: 'You said you made me perfect in every way!'

Emp: 'So?'

Horus: 'So why the male pattern baldness!'

Emp flicks his flowing locks: 'Because I'm worth it...'

Hoping we see plenty of the stuff from Inferno integrated here. Gimme some Deathsworn.

Also please please can Abaddon be afforded some competence and charisma? So far his best showings have been Horus Rising, the Conquest of Ilium in, ah, Conquest and Little Horus, beyond those it's all been a bit "rah, I'm angry and killy" and it's hard to see the qualities that made him First Captain.

The greatest 70s rock album cover we never had!

He looks like a Fado singer.

Unsurprised to see Loken and Tyrfinger in the Dramatis Personae. After all, the whole point of Vengeful Spirit was for the Knights Errant to prepare for the Rout's attack on Horus. Those two survived and returned to Terra, so it is only natural we'd see them report the current status to Russ.

I'm just happy Freki and Geri got listings....

Either way, I think this will tie A LOT of stuff together for the Wolves. I'd say that yes, this is a vision of the Wolf Time and will have big implications for why Russ leaves for the Eye. It'll also reflect back (or forwards, chronologically) on Corax: Weregeld, where Russ was comatose and having visions/nightmares.

Seeing how this is a Haley novel, I have massive hopes for this. He's been the one consistently brilliant author in recent years, no matter what he touched in 40k/HH or WHFB. He does his research and gets into characters' heads like few other. He brought out exactly the character traits that needed highlighting in Perturabo, set up Mortarion for 40k and the HH fall, showed Sanguinius and Curze dueling it out in a satisfying and provocative way, and his short story Twisted proved that he gets the Sons of Horus and Maloghurst. I have no doubt his Abaddon will be one of the best renditions he's gotten in the series.
