<Blackthorn>

Marking his targets via auspex Atratus banks sharply onto the roof of the closest weapon - those who looked to the skies in confusion less likely to stumble away into cover than if he had landed amongst them.

Helgrim angled his downward trajectory to put himself alongside Vârvost, nodding to the scion of the Angel before rolling away into a steep dive toward one of the clusters of guards.

Atratus glanced up as Varvost crashed down past his position, as ever the Eradicators eyes on the largest group of targets.

It fell to the Raptor to pick off the stragglers. Likely they had no part or knowledge of their masters actions and he felt no malice, but judgement had been passed upon them.

The grav-plates of his jump pack still charged, Atratus dropped down silently onto the first of his targets. His power blade found no resistance and the sound of the guard falling was lost amongst the echoes of Varvosts chainaxe as the Raptor lept forwards again.

Helgrim landed amongst a group of unprepared and surprised sentries, and efficiently dispatched one of them with a crushing blow from his crozius arcanum, its crackling power field tracing a grim arc. The two remaining troopers were left in gore-drenched terror, but Sergeant Tyber's blows had yet to fall.

Tyber did a quick scan to see the assault elements of the squad doing what they do best, moving quickly and efficiently, but time was not on their side at the moment. With a quick burst of his jump pack he charged towards one of the mortals, this one would be useful once the fighting was done.

ROUND ONE BEGINS

(Placeholder Post)

The crackling discharge of the Crozius; this hissing of Harvest and the Raptor's twin blades; the howl of Varvost's chain-axe. This is death, distilled into its purest form.

The second target had dropped their weapon in wide eyed fright, or perhaps awe as the astartes arrival, living barely long enough to recognise their fate let alone raise the alarm.

Atratus turned to watch the fight unfold on the second platform, two guards unattended had been marked by Tyber but sight of him was lost behind the weapon. Varvost too was lost to sight but the sound of his weapon left no question as to his own success.

Without breaking his stride the Raptor swept back beneath the shadow of the anti-aircraft weapon as he prepared to take flight once more.

With his prize in one hand, Tyber turned and flared his jump pack again to land just a little past where he landed the first time, taking out his bolt pistol he drew his aim on one of the troopers and squeezed off a round.

The first sentry felled by his hand, Helgrim advanced upon the remaining trooper manning the anti-aircraft battery, however due to the gore coating the deck, his footing was less steady and his vicious overhand strike missed the trooper, smashing into the deck plating.

Chaka listens to Thorvald as he reports the largest vessel.

"A cruiser... the heavy armor should have left much of the interior intact, though still depressurized of course. Still, it seems as good a place to begin as any. Captain Rubio, have Xenocide approach the Riches Untold. From the Aft, brother Vorkys is right to be cautious around the weapons of these hulks. Even if she aren't manned by our enemies, there is a chance her weapons could discharge while we are in their range. It would be needless risk to fly in front of her guns."

Rubio nods and sets the bridge crew to work, plotting a course around the previously marked kill-zones and torpedo firing arcs.

ROUND TWO BEGINS

At such altitude, the wind is violent, surging and swirling in gusts that pull at you. The Chaplain's crozius crackles with unsatisfied fury as it crashes to the deck, missing the intended target. Beside him, the Dragon drags one of the troopers along with him as he raises his bolt pistol, the mortal beating wildly - if ineffectually - at his captor. Tyber's shot goes wild.

Tyber moved closer to the mortal that attempted to strike him as he looked to the mortal in his grip for a split second, making it clear that he knew he was there and that resistance would do him no good as he spoke over the external vox, +I only need one of you, struggle and I will find another.+

With his words out, he answered weapons fire with weapons fire.

Baltarian Abyss

The Xenocide advances, the crew following Embe's careful instruction.

Ahead, the Riches Untold rolls lazily in the void: a five kilometre-long shard of crenellated metal trailing a haze of debris like a funereal shroud. As you near, you see that the cruiser's hull is pitted and worn by centuries of unshielded exposure to the void. You can see layers of overlapping marks that appear to be those of micrometeorite impacts; your eye is also drawn to rents and tears along the hull, bearing the distinctive burn-scars of weapons fire.

The auspex indicates no signs of life - the vessel is cold and lifeless. They do, however, register pockets of extreme radiation aboard the cruiser - perhaps an indication of the weapons used centuries ago against its crew.

Quick to respond to his miscalculated swing, Helgrim unleashed a flurry of blows at the cowering trooper.

+++STRUCTURED TIME ENDS+++

Within a matter of moments, the four Astartes have killed nine troopers and captured one. More importantly, the Desiato Household's air defenses are unmanned.

With Helgrim killing the cowering trooper and Tyber shooting the other off the platform, combat ends, and the perspective shifts elsewhere...

+ + +

It takes mere seconds before the blunt-nosed Storm Raven descends from the cloud cover, swooping in to allow the rest of the Kill-Team to descend onto the landing platform. The guards are alert, their weapons up. They do not know who their enemy is, but they know they are under attack.

The cloak of surprise has been shed; now strength-of-arms must carry the day.

OG1eEXx.png

Firstly, all players need to roll Initiative. This is done by rolling a D10 and adding your Agility Bonus (normally the Tens unit of your Agility statistic.) It is worth noting, however, that Incariel's combat formation ability allows you to use his Int Bonus of 5 instead of your agility bonus. If you wish, you can spend a Fate Point to count as having rolled a 10.

As the storm raven approaches the platform the cabin goes briefly quiet. Ekieo hears nothing but the steady beating of his hearts. His eyes shut, blanking out the flashing hud within his helmet. He takes a deep breath and with his exhale he opens his eyes and the world comes alive once more. The storm ravens altitude and proximity alarms blaring and whirling as Brother Sabaan performs the fast drop of the crafts deadly cargo.

Its time

Mag lock braces disengage and Ekieo is quick to his feet, he launches out first, reminiscent of his drop pod expertise, taking point immediately with a defence knelt stance, bolter poised ready to lay down cover. The rest of the tactical unit fall behind in an arrow formation, the piercing justice of the imperium about to be unleashed!

Pyke could feel the inertia pressing him into his seat as the ship banked sharply and made ready to land on the platform ahead. The whine of the landing gear servoes preceded the ca-chunk of the craft touching down. The hydraulics compressed as the weight of the ship sank onto its feet. The ship had barely came to rest Before Severix and his brothers had released there restraints.

Pyke racked the lever on his frag cannon feeding a massive shell into the breach as he stormed out of the craft. He could make out house guards scrambling for cover as they brought their weapons to bear on this new threat from the skies.

The oath papers attached to his cuirass flapped in the breeze as his grim helmet looked for its first target...

The Spearcast rounded out and through from its first trajectory, having delivered one round of the Emperor's fury, and now with the air batteries neutered it safely dove below the canopy of choking smog to deliver the second. If the thudding of ceramite boots and the roar of chain weapons were the peel of rolling thunder, then here now struck the bolt of lightning that was promised.

He was ready.

Examining the Auspex readings, Chaka ponders the information aloud.

"No lifesigns. Doesn't neccesarily rule out all forms of opposition, combat servitors and other mechanical defenses could still lie dormant inside. Still, I'm confident we could overcome such obstacles if they are present. Apothecary Yeng, what is your opinion on that radiation? Would those areas be safe to explore in our Power Armour?"

<Swordhand>

As Gideon looked up and watched the lifeless vessel before them, his eyes widened in shock. While he was well aware of the size and dynamics of Void Warfare, he had never seen wreckages like this before. The size and depth of the rents in the vessel were horrific, for such armour and void sealed hulls to have been forced to give way to weapons constantly thundering against it...

Though Astartes know no fear, and they shall show no doubt, Gideon felt....strange. While he knew that he could most likely survive exposure to the vacuum of space, to survive a ship being rendered apart like that... He prayed to the emperor quietly that none of the Astartes or Mortals on this vessel died in such a horrific and cold way.

Lycus steps down from the boarding ramp of the landing craft, bringing his blessed weapon to bare as he takes in the scene around him. In truth, he suspects he could have enacted this combat with his eyes closed, able to rely on the accurate stream of information being broadcast between his squad mates and the vengeful machine spirits of their armour.

"Finally, time to perform His service...", Lycus mutters to himself, as he racks the slide.

Lycus quickly assesses the situation, before coming up with a quick battle plan.

"Greysight, clear the left flank, I will take right, create a kill-zone.. Pallan, provide covering fire, keep their heads down. The rest, advance and purge, in His name".

Lycus moves to the right flank, and begins to select targets of opportunity.
