Telling Squads apart.

I number/code mine on the back:

HQ1 - 5: Commander (back when there was one) and Command Squad

111 - 110: First Squad

121 - 120: Second Squad

131 - 130: Third Squad

etc.

AF1 - AF0: Armoured Fist Squad (back when they were available)

HW11 - HW12: Heavy Weapon Squad One

HW21 - HW22: Heavy Weapon Squad Two

etc.

It's neat and clean.  The only downside is sorting them away after the game since my eyes aren't what they used to be.  The lettering's kinda small.

Squadmarks seem pretty decent.

I would have said cadian numbered shoulder pads or colours, different base textures (shades of green grass, mud, sand, rock, etc), base rim colours, numerals on the back. The problem with these is that they’re permanent so you cant mix and match easily

I haven't enough infantry for it to be an issue yet. But at local club member had added small magnet to underside of model base, then small magnet under a second unused base of same size. These he coloured (painted rim). Simply sits squads on base with colours showing which is which.

he got pile of bases cheap on ebay.

Models end up a base height higher. But thats it. He just kept the bases in a freezer bag he took with him.

worked well
