New Knight Castellan Revealed!

I hear the same, 80" range on the volcano lance. On the conflagration cannon he says: "18", S6, Ap-1, 2 damage, Auto-hits, Heavy 3 D6 damage" I'm guessing he means Heavy 3d6 shots, 18", Auto-hits, S6, Ap-1 D2 for the stat line. 3 shots seems like way too few for a knight sized flamer weapon.

Yeah 3d6 is what I think it is.

I wonder what the movement characteristic is on the castellan/Valient. Guns are nice but we still need to be able to play the mission.

At this point, it's the armiger/hellverin rules I really want to see.

The big sluggers are obviously gonna be the show pieces, but I think the little brothers will make or break the pure list

I agree.  I'm not really interested in the big Knights, but I would like to expand my Household with smaller ones to fit into the typical points/PL range of the games I play.

I agree completely!  I'll likely use the Armigers first with my AdMech while I work on getting more knights to expand to a knight-only list.  And we'll definitely need the Armigers/Hellverin to round out the forces.

Thirded. Fourth'ded :) The new options and new Knights are great. But we have big guns. Big guns were never an issue. You're quite right - it's the supporting cast that's really going to determine our viability - especially in pure lists.

If my 2k army is now <1500, then I can hopefully fit 2 Hellverins in and I'm done for 1750 and the GT.

Do you think it's going to drop that much? Sure, the armigers are getting a lot cheaper but the decreases in points for the big guys seem pretty modest

I run 4 Armigers,

60 point drop on each pays for one, I only need another 80/90 points of savings and with some fine tuning could be there.

There being 1750.

Would need to change the Styrix out for further savings though, my faith in FW to update costs/rules is limited

I don't get it. 4 armigers would save you 240 points with the rumoured drops. 2000-240=1760. The helverins are probably going to be in the 175 range, so two of them would add upp to 350 points. That puts you at 2110. So you'd need 360 points to drop to make 1750.

Or am I just dumb and you meant that you're aiming for 2k with those 2 extra helverins?

Or did you mean that one of those four amigers becomes a helverin instead and you just add one more?

That would still be tight, no? 2000-180=1820 1820+350=2170 So you'd still need 170 points to scurry away elsewhere in the list. That might be possible but I'm not sure

Edited the above ^

I blame long day and not being right from last weekend's concussion, lol.

Plus pushing a pram round primarni at the time.

4x Armiger with meltagun - (177 x 4) 708

Crusader rfbc/avenger - 485ish

Errant - 400ish

hellverin - 160ish

Is probably about 1750

Yeah, with one helverin I think it's totally plausible. It's just that you wrote 2 in the first post and that sounded ambitious haha.

See aforementioned concussion comment. Lol

Seriously, we don't have any problem taking down big, multiwound units. If you want to make knights good and viable then you have to add a point efficient way to take down hordes. The new knights unfortunately seem like more of what we already have. Fingers crossed for the helverins though :)

Hello Sir Hekhtur !

Looks like WD Pics?

The knight itself isn't doing much for me, it's just a knight. But I sure hope this means we get all of our pilots on the board if the machine blows up!

That armor he's wearing is even more reason to pair Scions with knights, same trim and everything.

My only concern is the character kit will make me want to redo my first knight to some degree since at the moment he's supposed to be the leader of my knight lance. Otherwise the character knight will be his champion. So many possibilities.

I'm hoping the name is just for product reasons and he's just otherwise a load out. The sculpted knee points to otherwise though.

He's supposedly a Freeblade special character, so it's unlikely to be a generic loadout.  There's nothing to say that you couldn't repurpose it as a different Knight, just as you can use Marneus Calgar's rules/model to represent your own Ultramarines character if you'd like.

Oh, detailed rumors and pictures the one time i'm not hammering these threads for updates every 5 minutes. But finally. Pictures! I can have something to look at!

And that's the standard GW kit alright with an upgrade alright. The old legs, old most of it really, but with some new stuff! (Shield, faceplate, banner, wolfheads instead of eagles, oh and of course the weapon (notice how the laser weapon still uses the old thermal cannon weapon shield though?)) Also the small weapon was different, as some eagle eyed folks suggested from the earlier drawn picture. Might have to get this guy even if I don't plan to make the freeblade, just for the pilot and unique parts

I still think the knights are due to be very imminent now.

I'm loving his Imperial issue lunchbox.

The Emperor Provides!... sandwiches?

It's a suitcase life support system, similar to the kind carried by astronauts before jacking into their launch vehicles.

Are you suggesting sandwiches are not part of life support systems? What if they get hungry?
