New Knight Castellan Revealed!

Hoping I'll be able to convert the new options as I have 2 Forgebane Armigers ready to be built...

Autocannon-like weapons for the Armigers are available on shapeways (along with some pretty funky Warhound-style heads).

That armadillo carapace is actually quite cool!

Interesting rule on the new terrain piece:

'Used offensively, you can ensure that your weapons with a random number of shots (like the volcano lance wielded by the new Knight Castellan) always perform at maximum effectiveness.'

That's damn nice in theory. Guaranteed 24 RFBC shots anyone? (If dual weapons are a thing for all).

will take 1 armiger full kit, then duplicate weapons for my 4 already owned armigers (forgebane)

will take (probably) one renegade box to get 2 big guys: problem, I am afraid that this is NOT 2 full kits (like warden which can do all the knights)

will take (maybe) one super big guy depending if it is a complete kit allowing to do all the builds (but I'm a bit disapointed as the castellan is not taller than the IK )

Renegades contains the Warden Kit, but you only get one upgrade sprue. The other is standard.

It's still a good deal based on the fact you can build say a Crusader and an Errant? Worth picking up.

that means that you have ALL the up/weapons in the box? at least one of each? this way I can duplicate them for 2 full variations?

In Renegade, you'll have two:

Battle cannon

Melta cannon

Chainsword

But only one:

Carapace weapon

Gattling

Fist

Yup, exactly right. Charlo's words are wisdom :)

Yeah, I was lucky enough to pick the box up the first time around and his list of the contents is spot on. It's a bargain if they sell at the same / similar price point as the last occasion.

I think it's almost weird if we don't get a pure close combat armiger really. Two close combat weapons/close combat weapon and flamer/close combat weapon & shield. One of those would make me happy

Yeah I'm feeling the same way. But then I remind myself double close combat weapon would be lackluster considering anything on the first floor of a ruin can't be attacked.

Well maybe our hopes might be confirmed later in the week!

No Renegade/Chaos coverage whatsoever confirmed. Sigh. Which is... disappointing. I feel like they've shot themselves in the foot for the sake of a faction keyword swap in terms of sales, and made life very difficult for 'real' Renegade Houses to operate. They're pointing out that 'our rules can be found in Index: Chaos' which means no point reductions either... for the same gear, and less options.

I'm venting a bit folks, so apologies. It's just knowing that I'm never going to rate a full codex, I'd have been very happy with just a single page at the back of this one, rather than continue being rendered irrelevant :/.

Of note is the fact that Mechanicum Houses have now essentially had coverage in two codexs... and CA support.

I wonder if I could ditch all the big knights and just run Armigers/Helverins...

Just for a laugh...

I think that's gonna depend on the statline of that helverin gun. They call them fast-moving, long-ranged fire support but I'm not sure how easy it's going to be to utilise their speed in that setup. And obviously anti-horde might be a problem since it looks like neither armigers nor helverins currently have much of a horde clearing option. That slash attack might help with that though, unless people hide in ruins.
