Moostick
http://pro.bols.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/special-issue-ammo-rules-1.jpg Full Bolger List posted on BOLS Standouts are storm bolter and combi-grav. Combi-grav could mean we get access to more options. EDIT: CHAPLAIN IN TERMINATOR ARMOUR? YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES, THE FIRST THING I'M HAPPY ABOUT. He is literally the only additional datasheet we got, and it's the one I wanted the most. So outside of him, no new units, brothers. Edit 2: So bolter weapons are all +1 pts. Intercessors are only 2 points more than Veterans. Chris521
Shame about Heavy bolters not listed for SIA, but storm bolters could be great. Assuming they aren't too expensive, and they have the expected SIA profiles, you can deep strike some decent (and flexible) fire power. 40 S4 ap-1 15inch shots ( or 12 inch wound on 2+ with no support) from 10 guys plus Deathwatch Tactics and stratagems could be real nice. Moostick
So based on the revealed information, we can extrapolate the following: Barebone units (assuming 5 for Term, 3 for Bike; I saw the rumour of single Termies, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was a typo left over from the Index. Not even joking) Original -> Predicted New Veterans w/ bolters: 95 -> 85 Terminators w/ SB+PS: 190 -> 170 Bikers w/ TLB + Chainsword: 108 -> 87 VV w/ BP+Chainsword: 105 -> 95 Terminators and Bikers probably get the SM treatment, but get increased cost in their guns. Overall, still a decent reduction. VVs and Veterans are obviously an improvement as well, but probably not nearly enough. Good ol' SM shackle. Kallas
Storm Bolters getting SIA is pretty damn sexy, and it actually gives Veterans something over the Intercessors (ie, weight of fire). Assuming one is inclined to slap Storm Bolters on all/most of them. Deathwatch Terminators are going to be brutal. Which is awesome. I've got a bunch of Terminators and a Captain and I'm tempted to make up a Deathwatch Terminator Strike Force just for awesomeness Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346704-codex-dw-next-week/page/14/#findComment-5073051 Share on other sites
Deathwalker
They have changed it to cost for the SIA, rather than baking it into the cost of the marines, which is a far better approach. Why should you pay for SIA if you have no weapon that can use it? I'm quite liking the changes and rules thus far. SanguinaryGuardsman
New Zealand preorders up: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-NZ/searchResults?N=710747498+3206404541&Nr=AND(sku.siteId%3ANZ_gw%2Cproduct.locale%3Aen_NZ_gw)&Nrs=collection()%2Frecord[product.startDate+<%3D+1525519320000+and+product.endDate+>%3D+1525519320000]]https://www.games-workshop.com/en-NZ/searchResults?N=710747498+3206404541&Nr=AND(sku.siteId%3ANZ_gw%2Cproduct.locale%3Aen_NZ_gw)&Nrs=collection()%2Frecord[product.startDate+<%3D+1525519320000+and+product.endDate+>%3D+1525519320000] I really hope this is pricing error because I see something really garbage here. Unlike DA/BA boxes, that had Intercessors bundled with new Primaris upgrade sprue for pennies, DW boxes with two year old upgrade sprue have full price of sprue slapped on top of bundle. The very same sprue that was free with all DW kits 2 years ago! Thankfully I still have like 5 of them so I don't care, but I already can see people skipping on DW bundle and just buying regular Intercessors, and GW going "DW doesn't sell"... Also, CE cover outrage starting in 3... 2... 1... Those prices make me wonder why NZ hasn't had a communist revolution. Moostick
What's the SM shackle? Exactly as it sounds. Every decision made for DW must take SM into consideration, which includes point cost, stat line and rules. GrinNFool gave a pretty good general description previously. It makes sense to do so for fluff, but at the same time it doesn't work if trying to make a separate "elite" army. GK has the same problem. SanguinaryGuardsman
This codex seems really good. It might not be competitive but it does something no other SM codex has done, make bolters and troops good. Maybe not Eldar good but definitely viable for club level games. LordCommanderSamirus
I'm generally pretty positive but I am admittedly a bit let down by the lack of non primaris apothecaries, techmarine, champions and ancients. Looks like I'll still have to house rule a couple of my models. SanguinaryGuardsman
I meant "Eldar good" in the sense of winning tournaments not a troop vs troop comparison which I think favours DW. I'm not sure. Pure DW, I think you would be right, but if you use DW with even just other marine variants I am not so sure. Add in Astra Mil and I can see some really, really devastating lists being produced. Im already planning to get some DW intercessors+reivers to run with my raven guard. They will be painted as Raven Guard but counts as DW. Deathwalker
For -tournaments- yeah, beer and pretzels, perfectly fine. I can even see some fun Inquisition 3 detachment stuff working using DW to breach a LZ against any Xeno's filth and the GK dumping into the clear zone with inquisitor backup. Certainly fluffy Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/346704-codex-dw-next-week/page/14/#findComment-5073107 Share on other sites
