Sisters speculation topic

I dont like the boy wonder haircut. Hope they also bring back the fleur designator for something like Celestians and Sister Superiors.

We aren't working with new models for the CA dex. Give us a 2nd troop choice (even cheaper Repentia) and a second HQ. Then maybe spice up the usual suspects a bit rules wise. With Vect doing what he does, having just two faction Strategems can get un fun fast. Fix that, better AoF scaling and range (however they do it) and we'll be set.

From GW: "This year’s Chapter Approved will feature a beta codex for the Adepta Sororitas – and we’re inviting you to try it out. You’ll have access to a huge pool of units, Stratagems, Relics and Warlord Traits to represent the orders of the Adepta Sororitas in your games – and your feedback on how you find them will help us make the final codex as awesome as it can possibly be."

-Order specific rules perhaps? If that is what "to represent the orders of the Adepta Soroitas" means. I do note that they did not capitalize the word 'orders' so perhaps this is not the case.

-And I need to find out how to provide feedback!

See the open helm one im on the fence about. It looks like a tricky thing to paint and a bit odd (because have never seen it) though it is something marines cant do. Probably would suit a character better- more of a feature head. My thought anyways.

Aside from bumping BSS back up to squad of min 10 to get their current loadouts thus giving back celestians their niche of msu, i dont know a decent fix for celestians.

I really hope they don't go with that idea....

Easy fix is just to give Celestians the same wargear options as the Canoness Command Squad from the 7ed IA list. CA list won't benefit from new models, so giving Celestians a large toolbox of equipment would allow a player to pick and choose to make them the unit they need (or three).

I think if they gave Celestians the exact same stats and actual wargear options they would be well worth the points. I hate the bodyguard rule, no thanks. Perhaps instead, allow any unit within 6" of a Celestian squad to use an AoF gained by a friendly Imagifer that turn.

Would be cool if the 6 orders got their own chapter tactics.

For Celestians I'm thinking allow them the option of a Sarissa which takes the form of a bayonet, granting them +1 Strength in melee.

I really like the open visor helm, and the helmet design overall. It's inspired by a medieval sallet helmet to some degree which could also do something similar where the visor lifts. It's never been shown before in the past, possibly due to sculpting tech or no one thought to try and pull it off. Not too hard to paint either, just work from the inside out, helmet last.

I don't like that top middle head though, the hair and anime chin just looks off not to mention the face expression. Hopefully they scrap that one and keep the rest. A couple of em have pig-like noses too which is weird, the one with the eye patch would be my favorite if not for that.

The open helm gives us the opportunity to model a sister on a horse as a knight (or dame, rather ;) ), a sister at fencing class, or a sister on scooter with the marvellously dangerous opening-jaw-cover vespa helmet :D

I'm excited about trying our rules and having my feedback actually read!

I like the open helm, the wimple one and the eye patch one.

2001 - Everyone else who had a 2nd ed Codex has a third ed one but you have to chill with Necrons in Chapter Approved until we get you both codexes.

2003 - You're out of Chapter approved and you're getting some new models but only in an Inquisition book. Deathwatch and Kroot can chill in your old place until they get the Alien Hunters book we're definitely going to make.

2016 - Deathwatch get a Codex, sorry sisters.

2018 - You're getting new models honest, but for now you're going back into Chapter approved. Since you were last here Deathwatch have had two codexes and Necrons have had 4.

This may possibly be why I relish the victories of my Index army over those who have a Codex army, not that I might be a teensy bit vindictive ;)

Here is my guesses at the relics and their abilities

  • Cloak of St Aspira (+1 to Shield of Faith or Invulnerable save or Feel no pain)
  • Book of St. Lucius (Free Act of Faith)
  • Prasidium Protective (storm shield where a save of 6 reflects hit back into attack unit)
  • Tears of Dolan (anti psyker grenade)
  • Specter of Vengeance (Power Maul replacement- increased strength, damage, ap, and has a flamer built in or if they really wanted too counts as TH like in 2nd ed)
  • Axe of Retribution (Power Axe upgrade- better stats)
  • HOLY TRINITY (Combi melta, Flamer, Bolter that Kills any non adepta sororitas unit that looks at it on the table.....JOKING)
  • Scared Banner of the Order Militant (Imagifiers only, grants the imagifier the Astartes Ancient ability)

I'd guess that we'll get something along the lines of:

cloak of St. Aspia (+1 to armour save)

the censure (power maul / flamer)

wings of faith (grants fly and move 12")

a book which grants a 2nd army wide AoF

2 or 3 Order specific relics

a banner for the Celestines (yeah a relic that cant be taken by a character but rather a unit..... unique in the game)

other things I reckon we'll get are weapon choices for the mistress,  along with arcoflagelents and penitant engines,

a stragem that adds plus 1 to AoF roll (if they havent totally altered the AoF mechanic)

new units: - a noviette troops choice

a 2nd close combat unit with the <order> keyword

repressors in the army list

edit -

warlord traits... another 5 to go with the one from last years CA

1 will be an extra attack on a 6 for <order> in 6"

2 extra move or dont count as moving on AoF movement for units in 6"

3 either -1 AP or +1 to wound in combat for units in 6"

I agree that there will be strats for the 3. Hubs and I were speculating while on the road today (Labor Day vacation plans) - we thought ignores cover with flamers and the space marines heavy bolters strat likely; maybe reroll 1s to wound with melta.

I speculated that OOoML would get the reroll 1s/reroll all to hits with battle sisters we see in Ultramarines and Black Legion, as a strat.

I would be surprised if the CA Beta Dex has any room available for a fluff re-write.

I also hope that they don't just give us marine lite order traits, if that's all they intend to do, just skip it please.

Faith is our core mechanic. I would love if any order traits we get (if?) focused on how that Order interacts with our AoF rules. Even going so far as the preferred units of a given order generating an AoF for themselves on a 5+. Sacred Rose Retributors possibly generating their own AoF would be very cool.

Bloody Rose Dominion squads, Argent Shroud Seraphim, Valorous Heart Repentia. Ebon Chalice Celestians(?), OoMartyred Lady(?)...

Now previous posts have made me remember Karamazov's Assault Multi Melta. What if we got something like that, perhaps as a Stratagem for Retributors, or for a MM armed Immolator?

Ultimately I think I'll be pleased that the Sisters are going to be 'Real' to GW. Whatever happens, please do NOT lump us back in with the Inquisition.
