Leman Russ.. Returning as a Daemon Primarch?

BloodWolves

Wulfen for me are like prequel movies. It further explores what makes the subject interesting but generally goes just a little bit too far.

I love the ferocity of the my wolves, but it just seem tragic to have them fully succumb to their demons. Im not against them, I thing it's cool it exists, but they just don't do much for me.

Edit: A good example is the old Mark of the Wulfen. In whatever edition it's purposefully vague what form it takes which was so incredibly awesome. The new art and models for wulfen just don't fit the Astartes aesthetic for what I like.

I dont mind Wulfen so much aside from the models being kinda terrible. I GREATLY dislike TWC especially the idea that they are mutated aspirants, that's just straight garbage. Im not a fan of packs of Fenrisian wolves because, let's be real people only take them to increase their wound/model count in their army. *shrug*

I guess the wolfy wolf mcwolf stuff to me is good when it's a seasoning, but is kinda horrible as a main course. At least for me anyhow.

Wulfen are partial failures, in as they still have some humanity left.

The wolf theme was my main draw, and less the norse/Celtic aspects, so I guess if GW can keep both it would be a total win. I like both TWC and fen wolves, and don't share the view that they are "too much fantasy". Hell, we would need to remove all shoulderpads just to get *that* effort underway...

Not so much of the "too much fantasy" part that I don't like, but I admit I am also biased because of my abysmal luck in running them. Also the look and design of marine riding giant mutts just didn't run with me.

Sigh, the wolf time will come, the wolf time will come, the wolf time will come, the wolf time will come, the wolf time will come, the wolf time will come, ......

At this point I have to defend my thunderwolves. They are amazing and the idea is amazing. The scaling in the model is NOT great... but that is forgivable because space Vikings riding giant wolves is again, amazing.

A few months ago, I was growing weary that SW were a bunch of furry's. However in the last few months I've seen polls and threads on multiple sites and I will say it is in the "SW should be vikings".

However a little wolf isn't bad, it's just GW gone overboard. As I said earlier what is made has been made. For those that like TWC and Wulfen let them have their models. We can always convery other models to represent those of you want to use those rules but not the models. If you are doing tournaments though, I hate to be rude but it's a tournament and model looks shouldn't be high on priority.

Months? Try years dude, people have been complaining about the furry ness for a loooong time. To point, the amount of bitching that happens has actually swung me the other way to not care anymore.

Not sure what the hell youre talking about tournaments though for.

This was my perspective, and I've only been playing for 2 years. So yeah not sure about anything before that. The books though rarely if ever mentioned thunder wolves or half the furry stuff the game has. In fact I can't remember reading a story with Tthunderwolf cavalry. My introduction of Wulfen made it sound as if they just grew hair, longer fangs, more muscles, and nails turned into claws, they seemed much more human than the models.

Can't remember if it was here or another site. Someone was complaining he was going to a tournament but his Primaris that used Wulfen weapon were illegal as they weren't the official models. That's why I say in tournaments you have to bite the tongue and follow tourney rules.

The hobby encourages kit bashing and creativity.

Most tournaments have proxy rules so your opponent knows what he is facing.  I understand and appreciate that type of rule.

A tournament that only permits specific release models sounds ridiculous.

My basic grey hunters and longfangs would fail that and they are made from all GW boxes (just different boxes)

Nope sorry that long fang is illegal you mixed pieces from a different kit...SW head but tactical marine torso.  Nope that Wolf lord is also illegal because you have some bits on there that didn't come with his box either.

Ah I get you, yea I would just make sure the tourney rules are clear and I’m always trigger happy to email a TO if I’m worried. That said though sounds like a crap tournament though.

My point was just that it seems like people can’t make it two posts around here with making sure EVERYBODY knows they are a “true” space wolf and clearly superior to wolfy wolferson furries. Put it in your sig and be done with it...

I vote Odin Russ returns, with Morkai at his side.

The Death God of Fenris.

Morkai, the double headed wolf

(one head Geri, the Other Freki)

Morkai, whos breath is smoke, eyes of fire.

The Animistic, Empyrean Greater Deamon of Fenris.

I personally like both the wulfen and the nordic aspect of wolves. Personally, i like a balance. Not too far in each direction and also not straying to close to codex marines. My take on the Wulfen based on the fluff I've read is that it is a shameful event when a brother succumbs to the wuflen. A failure. I also like the angle that the 13th has let their Wulfen loose to fight against the corruption of chaos. That is the only thing keeping them from turning from mankind. In this case, not a failure, but a pragmatic way to thwart the whispers of chaos which would be EXTREMELY hard to resist in the middle of the Eye.

I can't give you anything on Russ but I can give you the date for the Codex - 25th August bank holiday weekend in the UK and i think that's pre order date not release date.

Thanks, how have you got this info out of interest? Distributor?

Good grief, if that's right then release would be two weeks later in September...

Is this your opinion or fact?

Because titanicus is also coming in August, and if a specialist games launches 2 weeks after and specialist , I find that difficult to believe

I can't say where it's from as I don't want anybody to get into trouble but it's solid. Start saving your pennies.

I'm waiting on Orks but that seems locked down tighter than Kriby's wallet right now

You know of any new kits coming?

Not for certain, I heard that Russ was coming and could be a double kit along the lines of Morathi, so a primarch and wolfen primarch. However those kind of rumours have all gone quiet, release dates are easier to get than models lol. The first thing I heard for Wolves was single kit and codex only but the kit was supposed to be Russ.

I would not be surprised to see a loyalist Primarch before the end of the year because I was told in March that Angron, khorne berzerkers were all due at the end of the year and 3 demon primarchs and only 1 loyalist feels wrong for GW balance.

Hey PJ I appreciate you sharing what you heard. I hope you're correct with the Aug 25 pre order date. I suspect that is the earliest we could see a release.

I hope you don't catch too much grief if Aug 25 doesn't happen. Hahah. Things can certainly change quickly with the GW release schedule.
