KT that I've been thinking about is a mix of Scions/Guardsmen:

1x Sergent [Leader]: Chainsword, Plasma Pistol (6)

1x Special Weapons Gunner: Plasma Gun (8)

1x Special Weapons Gunner: Plasma Gun (8)

1x Special Weapons Gunner: Plasma Gun (8)

1x Guardsman Gunner: Flamer (8)

1x Guardsman [Comms]: Lasgun, Voxcaster (10)

1x Scion Gunner [sniper]: Plasma Gun (13)

1x Scion Gunner [Heavy]: Hot Shot Volley (13)

1x Scion Gunner: Hot Shot Volley (13)

1x Scion Gunner: Hot Shot Volley (13)

Total: 100 pts

Model Count: 10

Can always mix and match the special weapons to cater to whatever opponent your playing as they are mostly 3 points each. Would be cool using old school vostroyan models too..

Sup my dudes!

Im making a Scion KT and I need advice for specialists.

Its a 100 points list

My leader is taking plasma pistol and chainsword.

1 spec with sniper taking a plasma gun

2 spec comms with radio and hotshot lasgun

3spec heavy with hot shot volley gun

4 of the dudes with hotshot and 1 with a flamer.

I intend this to be an all rounded list.

Im unsure if I should take medic over comms tho.

Guys i have a silly question, grenade launchers count as assault weapons right? So can i have multiple grenade launchers shoot in the same phase? (aka they are not affected by the grenade weapon rule of 1 shoot only per phase)

Grenade Launchers are an Assault weapon so you can have as many firing as you want.

Ive never really seen the point of meltaguns in kill team. You're probably either shooting at long range or in melee. Its kill team so you are probably shooting into cover. Thats -2 to hit on a single shot weapon. Sure if it hits, it hits big, but plasma is just a better deal.

Scion killteams are cool though. If I ever build a guard KT it would probably also be a scion list.

Admittedly, they are more of a psychological threat than anything else; opponents just don't want to be anywhere near them, particularly if they have Elite models.  That said, when they hit, they hit hard.

I've found meltaguns effective on a Veteran specialist, as they get their own inherent reroll - if you hit something within 6", you are probably taking it out of action.  Great for when you absolutely need to take out that frag cannon.  Best to put it on a scion, though, as you really need to maximize your chance to hit.

Yes, plasmaguns are overall more effective, but I don't think that meltaguns are unplayable.

I had played 2 games of Arena with my guard killteam vs tyranid Genestealers melee list. It was rather fun and narratively appropriate.

The first game my list had a lot of dudes and a whole variety of weapons loadouts to try different things and to "feel" like a unit on patrol with all the tools to handle a variety of threats.

They ended up massacred by genestealers. So the next game we decided was a response team that specialized in purging xenos infestations. Literally every model in the list had a flamer, and the game was very much more in the guard's favor.
