Thanks guys!

I replenished my stock of foamboard today: 50x70cm sheets, 2 x 3mm thick and 3 x 5mm thick. I also retrieved an insulation panel from my remaining stock in the garage.

I did a quick & dirty mock up for the hilltop accessed via the drawbridge

Then I tackled some walls for an inclined roof, quite a lot of cutting as I need to take into account specific shapes of the adjacent part.

And here is the gigantic door these walls will be glued to. I started by gluing the skulls I had removed from the back of the door to the two lamps left and right of the door. I then added bits to encase the stairs. Then I ensured I could get a good fit for the adjacent walls. There is a beam on the left of the pic, not on the right, so I took that element into account for the two sides. The lower part of the wall comes forward so I also took that into account.

These connectors are useful to mask the imperfections, so you get this. The keypads will be masked, I need to find a good way to do it.

More to follow :biggrin.:

Some more progress in building scenery

Adding roofs to the left and right parts by first building a structure (foamboard for the walls, cardboard for the floor) and then cutting some cardboard to shape for the actual roof

gallery_116407_14938_52607.jpg

and also adding some textured plasticard to act as terrace, this requested some fine-tuning to get to the exact height I needed to be able to extend the row of civitas imperialis panels above the gigantic door

gallery_116407_14938_49339.jpg

Switching to other roofs for my hexagonal towers. By dividing the circle into 24 equal parts, I could theoretically get 4 hexagonal roofs but the cardboard only allowed for 3 as its width was not sufficient.

gallery_116407_14938_38412.jpg

and a first result using one of the hexagonal tops from the spires box

gallery_116407_14938_26662.jpg

trying the other one, its base is thicker so it seems a bit weird, some adjustments are needed

The first 3

More drawings and measurements, this time adding another circle

At the basis, the width is 28-29mm, at the truncated top it is 12mm. Once ready always check it fits into the hexagonal tower.

This fits better

One little thing to add: another tiny hexagon so as to give more contact surface for the top, always checking it is parallel to the ground (aka my desk)

Adding L-shaped plasticard (2mm width) to hide the angles. This is more aesthetically pleasing and also ensures the roof doesn't lean too much to the left or to the right.

Thanks!

Well, patience is one thing, good preparation and some chain work definitely help as well. I currently don't have a job so I have plenty of time and that is, for me at least, a good way to try keeping some sanity, even though morale can sometimes be on a "slow motion" rollercoaster. Or, maybe I have completely lost it already :teehee: :biggrin.:

Anyway, I did some more work on hexagonal towers. They eat civitas imperialis panels quite fast ...

Various stuff, including some additions to previous partial builds

A roof terrace

A higher hexagonal tower, with details to be added later

Industrial building getting some additional details, like stairs, flooring, ...

gallery_116407_14938_18882.jpg

An extended loading bay. The ground level was done previously, I added a terrace and an upper floor.

Thanks guys!

More painting :tongue.: Man this looks great.

My aim is to round up this bout of building by end of Feb, then paint a lot. I still have a few surprises in store. And painting is definitely required if I want to succeed my vow :biggrin.:

LOL where do you store all this?

Let's just say we had a dressing room :teehee:

That loading bay is a great concept, totally stealing for my next big terrain push.

Please do. Simply using 5mm thick foamboard, 2 panels glued together, one to support the terrace, the other to act as upper wall. I need to add lateral walls, flat ones, then I can use this in combination with other buildings. Always trying to be as modular as possible.

You sir, should consider a career in grim dark architecture. Brilliant.

Well, if I don't succeed in getting back into my specialty, I might.

Will there be trucks or aquatic ships docking at the loading bay?

Sweet suggestion, I especially like the idea of ships docking! Could be an interesting set up: shoreline docks with shallow water drilling rigs and titans fighting in between :biggrin.:

Thanks guys! Taking a break for a few days, I have an interview to prepare. Expect more soon.

I'll be ordering some more stuff as well, still undecided as to what exactly as there is so much … I also asked FW if an upgrade kit for the psi-titan might be coming, hopefully they'll answer positively (not holding my breath though).

At least gun if not the head.

May bring the Emperor’s light in your interview.
